Massively disappointing experience for using the online store for the first time. Consequently due to your inadequacy to deliver a service that I paid for, I will now have to ship the products to my wife at great expense, instead of in my suitcase. No response from emails I have sent after being told to escalate the matter when I rang this morning, and an offer to refund the delivery charge was both patronising and inadequate. Looks like you have lost a new customer #TheBodyShopDontCareAboutCustmers #PoorCustomerService

“Customer Services are Dreadful”

I have been trying to order White Musk Body Butter during the 40% discount sale. I tried several times via your website but the discount was not applied. On 29th October, I emailed your customer services.Two days later I received a response suggesting I read the Terms and Conditions and asking which promotion code I had applied. I responded straight away. I have received no response. Today is final day of sale so I decided to try once more. Again no discount applied so I rang customer services. After a lot of holding and discussions with colleagues I was told that there was a problem with ordering this item and that I should pay the normal price and apply for the discount via email. I cannot believe that a company like Bodyshop can possibly treat customers in this way. I love your products but your customer services need to improve dramatically. I am very disappointed.

“No Longer a Loyal Customer!”

I am very disappointed in the Body Shop Customer Service. I have been a loyal customer for over 20 years. I was making a purchase on line and the total included a $10 birthday discount and a free jumbo body wash plus my 10% member discount. When I entered my debit cart info, the discounts all disappeared and I was charged $10 plus more. I immediately called BS customer service and was told I could not cancel the order. Therefore, I called my bank and while on the phone with my bank I called BS back. The bank rep asked BS representative for the transaction authorization number which he could use to cancel the order with my bank. The rep was rude and would not give this information to the bank rep. Now my bank account has been charged for the order at more than I was willing to pay. I have to receive the order by UPS and return it to the store for a discount. What a major inconvenience!! I will never shop Body Shop again! No good customer service. While I loved the products, the prices are higher and not worth the non-customer appreciation. Good bye Body Shop! You have lost a loyal customer!

I have had a similar experience. Have several times tried to order items in the 40% sale only to find that I am charged the normal price and the discount not applied. A very slow (3-5 days) response to emails to customer support. Today, the final day of the sale, I rang customer support, was on phone for some time while they tried to sort out issue. Eventually advised that there seems to be a problem and was advised to pay normal price and send email asking for discount!!!! Is this any way for a company as large as Bodyshop to treat customers.

“very disappointed”

Ordered online in plenty of time for Xmas delivery but after phone call after phone call to customer services and DPD their chosen courier I was finally told the parcel was lost and they couldn't guarantee delivery of another before Xmas. Won't shop there again.

“Still waiting for my order!!”

Put an order in 3 days ago from Body shop online. I paid by Paypal and noticed straight away that it was showing as "Pending" I rang the body shop and was told that it would be pending as they do not take the money until its ready for dispatching. 3 days later its still showing as "pending" which means its not even been sent yet. I ordered from boots the same day and my order arrived this morning. I would have expected my order to have been sent by now. Not a good service and will not use again

“Bad customer care”

hi,if someone can shed some light on my issue with bodyshop please do so. I’m outraged at their customer service. I got 2 of the same gift sets from bodyshop for my birthday few days ago. The people who gave me the gifts threw receipts away. I am really against using anything from ‘The Body shop’ firstly i do not think it is an ethical company because of all the chemicals and preservatives they use, second i am allergic to all their products. they wont give me a refund unless I have a receipt. The SKU tag and original packaging is still intact. Its brand new. The manager refused to give refund. She said only a credit note or exchange. But stupid enough they will give me a full refund W/O a receipt if I use the stuff and get a reaction hahaha!! Spoke to customer service same song being sung. Got the regional manager to contact me. He sang the same song too… Really bad customer service. cant do cant do…policy.....ridiculous!! I said oh well if you grant me a refund out of courtesy you will at least be able to sell the goods and make money. But you leave me no choice but to use your products and get a rash and you will make a lose of £50!!! They have to give me a refund. Of course he tried to convince me not to do that. But did not budge from, ‘well if u do not have a receipt cant give you a refund.’ So i’m left with £50 and the only thing i can buy is ear buds and few wooden back scrubbers…… or use their paraben, chemical galore products and get a rash and get a full refund!! Any suggestions anyone??

I have had a bad experience with them online, but to be honest I would not expect a refund without a receipt, as many people buy using discounts often 50% off, or the reward card which gives 10% off etc so how do the store know what to offer you? I think under the circumstances they've been very generous.

I see your point of view but i gave them the time and date of the transaction. They even had a record of the item sold at that time which matched the SKU. All SKUs are different so there is no ways the same SKU item was sold at another time on discount or otherwise. There is no logical sense to their silly rule. They could have out of courtesy done it. Many stores have similar polices but after looking at all the facts and proof available they do give a refund. I still disgree with what happened and they could have helped. The headoffice was not appologetic at all. They actually dont care about customer service. Well they are selling products that have chemicals and advertising it like its so pure and good for you, they are bound to not care about people's feelings. In the end i they gave me gift cards worth £50. So your argument that the items could have been bought on discount has no ground to stand on. If they were worried about not knowing if it was purchased on discount or not they would not have even given me a credit note worth full price.They just didnt want to loose the money. Its all about profit. i actually sold the £50 gift card to someone. I was happy. But really was not necessary to have unfriendly staff. It obvious to me that the staff are under paid. They dont seem happy so how can they provide good customer service. I was actually fine they could not give me a refund. It was just the way they spoke me in store and headoffice just made me liose faith and respect for Bodyshop. Oh and by the just incase you didnt know Bodyshop is run by a famous brand i think its estee lauder. They were good before years back now they are just another chemical product industry.

“Rude assistants”

FOR THE SECOND TIME I HAVE HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE, IN THE BODY SHOP IN HEREFORD, ONE ASSISTANT A GENTLEMAN(I USE THAT WORD BUT HE IS IN NO MEANS A GENTLEMAN) , I FIND HIM RUDE AND UNHELPFUL, TWICE HE HAS COMPLETELY IGNORED, MY ASK FOR ASSISTANCE, WHILE HE CARRIED ON WITH HIS ACOUNT OF HIS LIFE TO ANY OTHER ASSISTANT THAT WILL LISTEN, I HAVE WALKED OUT WITHOUT PURCHASE AND DO NOT INTEND ON GOING TO THIS PARTICULAR SHOP AGAIN, HAVE DISCUSSED THIS WITH A NUMBER OF PEOPLE, AND, HAVE FOUND TO BE NOT ALONE IN EXPERIENCING THIS TREATMENT. IN SHORT MANAGEMENT NEEDS TO TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR HEREFORD BRANCH .

“Bad expired products being sold in annual discount scheme”

I had a similar experience in Bangalore Body Shop ( at Forum Mall, Whitefield) They had a 50% discount as a promotional scheme and I bought Body Butter. When I opened the product the material inside had curdled and gave out a really bad stench. The expiry was April 2013 as per the sticker of the marketing company Quest Retail which imports this product in India. They have hidden the actual original manufacturers expiry of the product using a new sticker. In away the Indian franchisee is spoiling the name of the MNC brand by selling expired products at a steep discount to clear stock. As a MNC it is surprising that Body Shop has not put in place systems to track this kind of cheating of customers . This will injure the brand value over time if people in India continue to get expired products ( under special promotional offers launched by Indian franchisees). This is a serious offense in the West and god forbid if there is an adverse chemical reaction on the face of one of the BodyShop clients due to using expired products then it will lead to litigation. I plan to take this up in the Consumer Forum and expect the company to be responsible enough to prevent such occurrences in the future. Gina Davis

“Inconsiderate Body Shop”

Body Shop obstructed the pavement in my local town with their advertising board. When I pointed this out they said they had every right to place their board where they liked. They could not see it was a hazard to wheelchair users and people with impaired vision. They thought it amusing I should even mention it. The council have now made them move it.

“cheat on discount”

Don't use the body shop spent £20 get £10 off online, if you are member of the body shop. It doesn't work! When I used the code to get £10 off, it does show the right value to pay. However, after I log in and pay by my card, it gave me the member discount around £2 instead of £10! I am so surprised that big shop like the body shop plays this kind of trick!

“Rude staff member”

Went to my local body shop, went to the till to pay and the girl behind the till didnt even acknowledge me, grabbed the item out of my hand, she then held her hand out for money. The whole transaction was done in silence and with her looking at anything but me. At first i thought she may have a disability, but i pretended to look at other items before i left and heard her talking normally to another staff member. i hate bad customer service.

“Take too long to despatch order”

I placed a few orders as gifts and chose standard delivery as I was expecting the delivery with 5 working days. I checked my order status and was surprised that all 3 orders had still not been dispatched after 4 working days. I did get my order but it was late and it was not the fault of UPS delivery but was the slow/late despatch from Body shop. Very nice smelling products but seem to be getting a bit over priced. Don't think I will be using body shop again. Would rather give my money to a company that delivers what they promise.

“None Existent Customer Care”

I placed an order of items that exceeded £50 in my shopping basket and added a discount code that was advertised on their website. The code was accepted but for some reason the discount was not applied to my order. I sent an e-mail to their customer services over a week ago explaining the issue and have had no response. I was suprised to experience a complete lack of customer service and so will be taking my business elsewhere :-( It is the worst level of customer service I have received for an online store.

When the goods arrived the bubble bath top had broken off and my goods were covered in the stuff. Their care call centre (a misnomer if ever there was one) just kept cutting me off. I will not be ordering from them again! I gave 5 stars to the shop layout as I ordered online and I can't write a review without grading the shop!
