I had two Air Arms Jackals back in the 80's. One was tuned at Streatham Armoury and was fitted with a fantastic silencer and scope, it was a great vermin controller!

The other was original and was a fantastic back garden gun and was used for ratting.

It took a while to get to grips with the military styling but it shouldered and handled VERY well indeed. The side-lever worked smoothly and the trigger was predictable and hey, it is a hunting/plinking weapon and not a target weapon.

I was gutted when they stolen during a burglary as I had owned them for many years and could not replace them.

I have had my Air Arms Jackal High Power for some years now and it has proved it's worth time and again. I use it as regular as my bsa ultra or my HW90.
All in all it is a fantastic piece of kit.

Mine never had a silencer but the power from the short barrel was fantastic, the side lever was in a great position too. Great fun and wipes clean.

I had an original Jackal Fire power, brand new back in the 80's when they first came out, it was a great gun, and I had it for years. I loved the military styling and the power was there to hunt bunnies or rats etc. I can tell you how powerful it was as I still have the pellet lodged in the back of my leg, where a "friend" who was a bit on the stupid side shot me from about 25 yards. My leg just flew up in the air like I was kicking a football, and then went completely numb, Thankfully! The pell ...

Air Arms Jackal High Power: We recently developed a minor rat problem at the bottom of the garden. Taking my neighbours old Jackal in .22 I sat and waited a while. I was amazed at the rifle which dropped rats at outside 25 yards.

I have owned an Air Arms Jackal Fire Power for about 10 years and have found the gun excellent for 'plinking' in the garden. I have fitted new springs several times to ensure maximum power. Modifications that I have done are:

Polishing the internal of the piston tube
    Polishing the piston
Superglue a 1/2 tap washer to the end of the Piston (This realy quietens the gun)
    8x40 scope with 1" mounts
    Good quality silencer

Cleaning the barrel with a brass pull-through does help with accuracy ...

I Bought my Air Arms Jackal High Power second hand off the 'airgun bbs'Originally bought it for my son as he liked the styling of it.
I find it very accurate, although its a little low on power I'm hoping to sort that by fitting a gas strut.
Love the no nonsense abs stock, im not into 'furniture' on a rifle so this suits me down to the ground. Comes to the shoulder really well, is well balanced, and very point able.
I can understand why people don't like the styling, and I realise it's not ve ...

The Air Arms Jackal High Power is rubbish. Save yourself the money and go buy a bag of pea-gravel from the hardware store, then throw them one at a time - you're probably more accurate and more powerful. This gun is a joke.

Came across this site on a link from the Bisley Field Target Organisation (q.v.) and was fascinated to see people still talking about the "Air Arms Jackal High Power". The gun was properly called the "Hi-Power" (as in the 9mm Browning Hi-Power semi-automatic pistol) as confirmed by an advert in the April 1980 issue of Colin Greenwood's classic "Guns Review" magazine I have before me as I type this, and it was marketed by Sussex Armoury at £59.95, "as powerful an airgun as you can legally b ...

I found the other reviews of the Air Arms Jackal High Power air rifle interesting. I've owned my Firepower since new. I've used other rifle for general pest control but have found this to produce the best results. It's not a target rifle so accuracy isn't spot on and I found i needed to weight the stock to balance the rifle for my liking. I have Bushmaster sights and have not missed a hit yet. Consistant knock down with wasps and an unexpected range for a non-licensed (just) weapon.
    It is a sha ...

This was the first air gun I ever shot (in about 1985) so holds fond memories for me. At the time it seemed a real powerhouse and looked cool to my young eyes. I had been on the lookout for one for a few years for old times sake, but good examples are hard to find as they were mostly bought by youngsters who gave them a rough time, me included! However, I did find one in very good condition and brought it. Powerhouse? Well not really. 8.5flb is ok for plinking, and to be honest that was real ...

MINE WAS ACTUALY THE FIRE POWER VERSION,THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BEING IT WAS AN AUTOLOAD.IE:A TUBE YOU PUT AROUND 30 PELLETS INTO,AND AS YOU TILTED THE GUN AND OPENED THE LOADING TAP, A PELLET WOULD FALL IN. OR RATHER THAT WAS THE THEORY,IT WAS VERY PICKY AS TO WHAT PELLETS WOULD WORK WITH IT,I SPENT HALF THE TIME POKING THINGS INTO IT TRYING TO CLEAR IT,AND THE OTHER HALF SHOOTING JUST AIR.EVENTUALY I TOOK THE AUTO LOAD OFF,AND HAPPILY SHOT FOR YEARS WITH IT.
LOOKING BACK ,I CAN UNDERSTAND HOW IT ...

one of the most embarrasing air rifles i have ever came accross. this is the sort of image that airgunners want to disassociate themselves from.
basically a plastic army lookalike piece of junk. you would need a lot of luck to be able to hit a barn door at 20yrds with this rubbish. you will also deafen yourself with the noise from the hollow plastic stock. no wonder it is not available anymore!

I purchased the Jackal 2 weeks ago for a mere £55.00 second hand from a local gunsmiths.
I also purchased a red dot site as the original rear site is missing.
Once i took it home i stripped it serviced it zeroed the sight in.
I am more than impressed with the jackal its a sidelever, tap loader with a short barrel, pistol grip looks very much like a automatic firearm.
I use .22 eley wasps pellets which were going straight though a 2" solid wood target and hitting the wall behind! There ...
