Good Points: Private grounds with security gates and guards.
    Shops on the grounds.
Really nice gardens with real pelicans and a pond.
Hotel nicely decorated and close to the Nile River.

Bad Points: The Budget Travel rep did everything possible to deal with a complaint, but got nowhere because Budget Travel was prepared to haggle over €26 to resolve our problem, which could have been met at least half way.

General comments: We stayed in the Sheraton Hotel in Luxor, but travelling from Aswan to Luxor following our Cruise on the Nile was in convoy with Armed Police. This journey was terrible and stopped at one designated place for five minutes. The toilets were in a scandalous condition, especially the ladies, and you had to pay to use them. Everyone we met had Dollar signs in their eyes. Never again!!

Luxor, Sheraton Hotel - Not much to do in the hotel and there are only certain times of the day that you can do anything, not the most exciting place in the world unless all you are after is beach and museums!!! Cairo would have been better!!

We have stayed at the Sheraton twice now and found it to be absoulutely great. We are returning again in June this year. The first stay was in November 2003 and the second in Febuary 2005. The staff remembered us from the first stay showing how good they are. We would really recommend the Hotel to other travellers to Luxor

The Sheraton Hotel is in an excellent position, on the Nile, with fantastic views. We originally had garden facing rooms which we changed to Nile facing rooms, a very good move for not much more, which meant we woke up to the most magnificent views of the Nile, the mountains which house the Valley of the Kings, and the pool, which was large enough for all residents.
The service in reception was always polite and efficient, the rooms were serviced very well indeed. Of the three in house restaur ...

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in the Sheraton Luxor, and I will definitely be going back. I stayed there with my friend and there was plenty for us to do!

It was very hot (July and 50 degrees) So if you are planning to go out and visit the Valley of the Kings or even the temples of Karnak and Luxor at this time of year, I would suggest you go out very early, as the heat can be overbearing (we also did all of our trips through Thomsons so we had a guide etc expensive , but reassuring for firs ...
