    Bad Points: clothes didn't fit, staff member I dealt with


    General comments: i have experience of hiring suits from Debenhams Wedding Service southend on sea branch never again will i go to that store just had the most awful experience. i was met by a seemingly rude member of staff, all seven suits didn't fit properly, they said there was a charge if they got the other sizes in. they said if the suits don't fit then there's nothing else they can do. i wrote to debenhams, they passed me on to suit company who then gave me a 20 pound refund.

    All in all I had very good customer service in basildon and my wife spent a fortune in the store. The store was very tidy and clean and I found all the staff friendly.

    Used the Oxford St branch of Debenhams Wedding Service to hire Highland Wear for a wedding. There was a single guy dealing with everything and a huge queue waiting to be served but he did his best under difficult circumstances.

    We recently got married, and due to the fact that our groomsmen were living around the country, we chose Debenhams for easy access. After meeting the salesman at a wedding faire, he booked us an appointment for 3 months before the wedding. When we arrived, he informed us that we would need to do it closer to the date. A total waste of a day! When we did manage to do a fitting, we were given forms to send out to our groomsmen so that they could get fitted. They went to Leeds, Birmingham, Cla ...

    Had the misfortune to use Debenhams Formal wear hire at their Gloucester branch.

    When the suit I ordered arrived, the hire company had sent the wrong style jacket and the wrong trousers : the jacket was beige and the trousers were green! Two days later another suit arrived for collection, and although the suit was the style I ordered and the jacket and trousers matched, the trousers were too large and not the size I'd ordered.

    Staff at the Colchester and Basildon Branch of Debenhams Wedding Service were unhelpful and unfriendly. No personal attention, when going to a pre arranged appointment...had to run through all the details again, as if they were unaware we were attending. Staff were unfriendly when the questions asked had already been answered and faxed to them, and they were asked to read their fax, but they had lost it. Suits were shorter than ordered.     I have had the experience of hiring from Debenhams twice, and on each occasion there were problems.

    On the first occasion, the poorly trained sales assistants' bad handwriting meant that other branches could not decipher what outfit was required.

    On a second occasion, after being measured I was told to collect the suit on a specific date, the date came, and the suit was not ready. A week and a half later it still was not ready.
