Good Points: Performance. Looks. Handling. Price.
Bad Points: Build quality. Tyres too expensive.
General comments: I have a love/hate relationship with my Renault Clio 182 Sport. Behind the wheel, I have driven few better cars. Seriously good fun and no wonder Evo magazine refer to it as the best hot hatch ever. Makes a lovely noise when you give it some welly and corners like it's never going to run out of grip. However, there is a price to pay for this seemingly wonderful value....during the first 3 years of ownership (from new) the car had to go back to the dealership no fewer than 20 times for recurring and random repairs. Not available from new anymore, I really wouldn't recommend buying one second hand because it'll cost you a fortune to keep it running smoothly. Like i said....Love/hate.

Looks-wise the Renault Clio 182 Sport can be improved, it can appear just like just a regular Clio on the road. Surpisingly good fuel consumption for a 2.0 litre engine.

erm... bad points...not alot of room... but obviously this is known when it is bought!.... the 2.0 needs to be more different from the standard clio.... like the 3.0 bodykit.... but with a 2.0L engine.

This car absoloutly roars, I would highly recommend this car to anyone, Fuel economy is relativly good and the striking monaco blue colour really makes the car stand out, Add to this the performance with the benefit of speed when you want it and you have one outstanding machine!

Previously had a Ford Focus ST and loved that. The Renault Clio Sport is something else though. Just as quick in a straight line, quicker through corners and an extremely easy car to live with.
Your not going to get performance like this for less and still have 32.0mpg.....

Ive had a 172, 182 and 182 cup now and the latter is the best. There is less body roll, improved handling and quicker. It also looks far better than the 172, and has the improved anthracite alloys from the standard 182.
I also havn't missed any of the missing equipment. The auto wipers and lights were useful, but I would rather have the better performance - I would have bought a Range Rover if I wanted a huge degree of comfort.
Amazing car (and quicker than a Golf GTI, Focus ST and equal to a Ty ...

I have had this car from new for the last 3 years and did put a review on here back in 2004. The only problems I have had is the alarm that seemed to go off on its own Accord, but this was sorted on the 2nd trip. I have driven a lot of sports hatchbacks over the last 20 odd years. How old am I? well its all about fun isn't it. This has been a great car and I have driven it hard, only got 3 points as well which I got 2 months into getting the car, it could have been worse. The handling around cor ...

It's got the lot. Accelerates better than most (including my mates Golf GTi and a Focus ST) and that's with my Clio being standard at the moment. Looks great, handles like a dream in the dry and is comfortable. It goes round the Top Gear track in 1.33.08, which is proper fast! Mine cost 10k (with 14k miles on clock), it was in mint (and I mean mint) condition, so cant argue with the great value. Had a C2 VTR before, with that stupid flappy padle gear box (apart from that great car), but the Rena ...

Such a quick little car, brilliant fun it sticks to the road really well! Love driving this car, its a real head turner, in the racing blue not to some peoples taste but it really does stick out! Interior is lovely, have the Recaro interior, which makes the driving experience oh so much better in my opinion. Quite economical, when driven sensibly that is, kinda shoots off when you give it some, loves the higher revving driving, quite a thrilling little car to drive, got every thing in it, cruis ...

I can honestly say that this is the best handling car I have ever driven but the straight line speed isn't great, (OK, my previous car was a Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo I suppose).
The engine lacks torque sometimes to, I reckon the chassis could handle 200bhp its that good.
It seems to run much better on super unleaded and feels much quicker as well.
Some problems: Wiper arm fell off whilst driving at 85 in the rain! Engine cover bolts missing with causes vibration and the steering rack "creaks".
M ...

Just picked up my Renault Clio 182 on an 04 plate in platinum silver, found the car to be an excellent drive. Having owned a Civic Type R previously i didn't expect this car to be as quick, but i was very surprised, this car would easily keep up with the type R and the handling on the Clio is a class above and also the kit you get in the clio is greater. Some people say the 182 isn't that quick, all i can say is that they haven't driven it properly or comparing it to cars wich are in a diffirent ...
