i thought this place was ok for a base after all you are not there to spend all your time cooking the views were fantastic as we were on the 7th floor saw no cockroaches it is on a steep hill but a five minute walk to europa centre i enjoyed the beach which aso has restuarants and shops you had to pay 1 euro an hour for the telly but they had euro sport when football was on unfortunely there was no entertainment which they never aid in the brochure but overall a good holiday

Blue Star Apartments, overall convenient position. Reception staff friendly and always available. Not too big so feels more personal. There are two lifts so ignore the reviews which moan about the lift. Anyway climbing the steps helps to burn the calories!

Blue Star Apartments was good holiday base. The location and views of the hotel were both great. I'd recommend.

Very clean, professional staff, clean sheets, towels, and tea towels, great views over the sea, quiet location, but near enough to be in the heart of every thing. Puerto Rico is a lovely place with lots to do check out the chill bar its a great bar with very friendly people running it, Dolphin trip is a must, all in all hotel and location food and place is absolutely fab. Taxis from top to bottom of mountain varied with each fare which I couldn't understand.

I read a few favourable reviews of this place before our trip, with people saying that it was not as bad as some other reports had stated. However, I have to say that the Blue Star Apartements is one of the worst places I have ever stayed. There are no lifts, just a rubbish gondola that takes an age to arrive, if it's even working at all. The TV in your room requires you to put coins in to watch stuff and the signal is generally rubbish anyway. We were lucky enough to sleep near the gondola whi ...

The blue star apartments are basic. If you want somewhere cheap too stay then book at the blue star, they are just basiclly what you pay for. alot of people have complained about the life/cable cart when I was there it did not brake once. The apartments have 2 rooms a living room and a kitchenette although don't expect much in the kitchen its just 2 gas rings a fridge, kettle and hot water there is no cold water. so we had too buy big bottles from the shop. We had a good view from the apartment, ...

Apartments were overall ok but VERY basic. The best floor to be on is 4th and above. No problems experienced by us, but other guests did have not hot water for several days and did move accommodation during their stay.
The BEST place to eat is the picasso restaurant which is located only a two minutes walk away from the Blue Star Apartments, the staff at picasso were fantastic and would certainly recommend it, not the cheapest of places to eat and certainly not a place for burger and chips. We ...

We loved the Blue Star Apartments. They are unpretentious. When we first arrived we were put into an apartment which we thought wasn't up to scratch. The following day we were moved to an apartment on the 7th Floor. No questions asked. The apartments were basic but adequate. Just a place to put your head at the end of the day. We couldn't believe the view we woke up to every morning...it was incredible!! The staff on reception are amazing, the friendliest we've ever met on our holidays. ...

The Blue Star apartments are comfortable and clean and adequately equipped for an enjoyable holiday. Excellent location for shops, bars and restaurants and close to amadoras beach ( which is superb ). The apartments are at the top of a hill but just jump into an inexpensive taxi to get you anywhere you wish to go. My wife and I never saw any cockroaches the two weeks that we were there and the lift was new so there was no breakdowns at all. The bad reviewers obviously have not stayed in parts of ...

Taxi's are cheap and there are plenty of them to take you into town.
The Blue Star Apartments are in an OK location, it was only a short walk to the Europa centre at the top of the hill where there were bars, restaurants, shops, arcades etc.

The bar at the apartments closes at 6pm and there is no entertainment of any sort.
The apartments themselves were very basic and very dated if you are planning to go and make your own teas a couple of nights, you won't be able to. You can hire a toaste ...

The Blue Star Apartments are generally clean and tidy - I would recommend that you request a room on one of the higher floors as reception is on the top floor down a steep slope!

Have been twice now, in 2004, 2005 and now June 2006. I love it, no problems. When we see the cats, I tried to get one back to England last year, as we saw him born in 2004 but would of cost us loads to take it back with us. Great staff, what more do you want. You get a sun bed and good weather, so why people say bad things about the Blue Star I do not know. Perhaps they want a holiday in a Palace.

Would recommend this place to anyone. Restaurants and bars on the doorstep with a cheap taxi ride away to the main centre, where all the top bars and shops are located.

All in all, friendly staff, only about 4 cats, never saw a cockroach in apartments, would go back, cleaners in 3 times a week, lift is safe, don't believe all the bad reports, you can't please everybody and some people are born moaners.

After reading comments before we went, we were very apprehensive, but we were satisfied, as it was a very cheap holiday, and you get what you pay for.

We enjoyed our holiday at the Blue Star Apartments in Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria, but we would have preferred to have been able to eat in more often, as we have a fussy eater. The walk to the beautiful beach was about 20 minutes downhill, and a 3 Euro taxi ride back. If you move from bar to bar in the commercial centre, you can be in happy hour ...

Five of us went to the Blue Star Apartments in Puerto Rico, Gran canaria, and it was everything we needed for a weeks holiday. I have stayed at nicer places, but I was more than happy with the accommodation, and I would recommend it to anyone that isn't fussy about little things and just wants to get on with a good holiday. There are nice views and a nice pool area. The food and drink was well priced The only thing that was a bit rubbish was having to hire a toaster because everyone loves toast.

Myself and my husband stayed here on our honeymoon in 2004. Not only were the staff extremely helpful when I was taken ill with food poisoning (not from hotels food may I add), but they were friendly and a good laugh. In the 3 times I have stayed at these apartments, upon request they have been loyal and kept us in the same room for two of these trips, so that I could have a private balcony. (The odd number floors have open balconies, and as I found out, people can invade them).

    The Blue St ...

We absolutely loved our holiday at the Blue Star Apartments in Puerto Rico, and we are already trying to book early for next year, as we enjoyed it so much. There are lots of bad reviews on this hotel, but you have to remember some people are never satisfied, and it's rare somebody can be bothered to leave a good review, but people can't wait to dish the dirt when they aren't happy.
