My wedding was on 1 May 2011 and the fact there is still a bitter taste in my mouth today (19 April 2013) shows how bad the service was. People get sucked into this poor service by the offer of free money - but it's not free money as their prices are so high. I'm surprised Debenhams are still in business to be honest - high prices and bad service. The wedding list idea is a simple one. You make a list of stuff your shop sells and let people buy it as a gift for the bride and groom. Yet... (read more)

I can not stress enough how badly debenhams have handled our gift list and dealt with the numerous problems we have and still are experiencing due to them. Of all the aspects of organising a wedding, the gift list was supposed to be one of the easiest and most fun bits and it has end up causing some of the most stress in the lead up and now even after the wedding day itself. I have never left a bad review before but if this one could possibly save other couples and their guests the... (read more)

Website down for several weeks before our wedding. When I called no one seemed to have a clue what was going on, unable to access our list. Unable to take orders from the list. Gifts delivered late and damaged. Unable to replace damaged gifts as only the buyer was able to request a replacement. Total shambles, very disappointing. The one positive thing I can say about the experience is that wedding people in our local store were friendly and tried their best to help. But I get the... (read more)

We set up our gift list with Debehams with a few months to spare before our wedding. Even at the start, items we had scanned in store showed as low availability & had a chance they may be discontinued before our wedding date. Before sending out our debenhams gift cards with our invites, we double checked that we were able to access our list online as if we were a guest. It worked fine, so we continued to send out the gift list cards with our invites. Within days of sending out the invites,... (read more)

I have ever been so appalled by such terrible terrible service. I am so glad my 170 guests were so disgusted with the service that they will never buy from Debenhams nor their families etc. me and my fiance set up a 'gift card' so friends and family could donate and we could use this for a virgin honeymoon. About 2 months before our wedding, the site crashed. It was not fixed until TEN days before our wedding. They had an 0845 number saying 'we apologise the site is down'. Therefore it was... While the staff in the Glasgow store were lovely, once our list had gone online my surname was mis-spelled (meaning guests couldn't search properly for it), several of the items that we had chosen were out of stock (including basic things like pepper mills and coffee grinders), the message that we dictated in the store to go alongside the list was wrong and then finally just as we sent our invitations out the website was taken off-line for a 'makeover' and continued to be down for WEEKS... So we sent the invitations, the week they arrive - no website for 3 weeks. I field calls from guests questioning if we had set it up right ! 6 emails over the 3 weeks and I am still waiting for more than "sorry - we know its a problem". They will not cancel the list now either. Today I visit a store - 40 miles trip - and they "acknowledge" the issue and... (read more)

We set up our Wedding list with debenhams around the 23rd of December 2012. However, our guests have never been able to get onto the website as the online service has not worked since sometime in January it is now the end of February. Appallingly, even though we supplied... Hi Having a wedding list on Debenhams website too, I can not access it, nor my guests. Its been a month now and we are miserable as anything about this tiny part of our big day that has become impossible to sort out. Our wedding is on the 9th March and currently there is no way for any of our guests to purchase anything on our gift list...not by internet (as said above this is down ) nor by phone as customer service assistants can't access the gift lists while the website is down.

I purchased a gift from the Debenhams gift list in Luton and also paid for a gift card to the value of £60 on Friday 24th August, the day before the wedding, under the impression that this would be deducted from my account the same day, much to my error. You can't top up the amount you want to pay online and are basically forced to go in store. Rubbish experience. Customer services no help. We went with Debenhams instead of John Lewis as tempted by the £50 gift voucher, but I wish we had gone with quality over a free gift voucher! All staff were friendly, but systems are clearly very old, outdated and not up to the job. we had the same issue with delivery to a new address having been reassured this would not be a problem, considering this review is from 2010 and it is now 2013 and must have happened to more than just us bear this and all other negative reviews in mind. They have now changed their policy an gift lists only go live 6 weeks before the event. The most frustrating thing is that they think that this is acceptable and I am the one in the wrong for complaining! Absolutely livid and now stuck as I have sent out all of the invitations with their cards in stating that they can access the gift list 3 months prior to wedding! Sort it out Debenhams! I agree with you that this is shocking customer service!
