Good Points: I adored this charming, homey hotel. I recently stayed here for 4 nights with my mother (age 72) in late Feb 2008. The staff was extremely helpful, thoughtful and kind. Our room was lovely, spacious and very clean. It had old fashioned charm with modern conveniences. The location is the best: 5 minute walk to shops, grocery stores, museums, famous sights, subway, etc. My hard to impress mother also adored this hotel.

Bad Points: Currently (Feb. 2008) there is construction across the street. It didn't bother me as the positives (above) far outweighed the construction but more noise sensitive people might have trouble with this (esp. in summer as they don't have air conditioning). Also elderly who have trouble walking will have trouble with the entry as the hotel required about 20 steps to enter reception (no elevator at all for access to the hotel) but inside there is a small elevator.

General comments: This is one of my favorite hotels I stayed in all of Europe (I've stayed in places all over Europe ranging from bed and breakfasts to the Four Seasons in Provence). I stayed at this hotel through a 3 city tour (Prague, Vienna & Budapest) through an Austrian Airlines package. Our hotels in Prague and Budapest were far beneath (location & quality of staff) the quality of this hotel. The location just could not be any better! The helpful staff make you feel at home and it was just a lovely experience which helped me love my trip to Vienna. My hard to impress mother also adored this hotel. I would definitely come back and recommend this hotel to all my friends (except for the issues below).
However if someone is noise sensitive, the construction across the street will be a problem. Also there is no air conditioning so summer might be a problem here if you need cool air (esp if the construction has not finished by then). Also elderly with walking issues (requiring a cane, etc.) will have trouble getting up the 20 steps to the hotel reception.
