A Grand don't Come for Free is the second album from mercury award nominated group, The Streets. I myself have not heard the whole of Original Pirate Material but I did hear them perform live at the Reading (or Leeds, I can't remember) and really enjoyed it. A.G.D.C.F.F is a almost a story made up of differnt songs, each having some relevance to another, like a kind of rock opera, only its a lot longer and the songs are separate from each other but you get the idea. As for the songs, lead-vocalist and producer Mike Skinner has succeded in a great follow up to O.P.M. For the idea of a Birmingham bloke for whom everything revolves around drinking, smoking cannabis and girls, Skinner's strangly addictive and simple songs, which range from the brilliant Fit But You Know It to the unforgettable ballad, Dry Your Eyes. It's an incredible album and would be great for someone who likes The Streets but I would listen to O.P.M if you are unsure. If you liked O.P.M, you will love this. I've had more requests to lend this CD to my mates than any other, and that's saying something!

I've had Original Pirate Material since it came out and would consider myself a big streets fan. However after a few listens the album has left me disappointed in places, although I must add at this point that the CD is still worth the purchase.
There are some brilliant tracks, 'Dry Your Eyes' has the potential to be a No. 1. 'I Wouldn't Have It Any Other Way' is truly chilled and I ...- Read Bubabaah's review (330 words and 1 comment)

AGDCFF (A Grand Don't Come For Free)is the second Streets CD to grace my player, and I recommend listeing to Original Pirate Material and A Grand on repeat for a couple of days at least, the two compliment each other so well its nothing but joyous. A grand has the same roller coaster of emotions style as OPM, though not quite as deveoped musically (dubious ryhmes at points) the beats aren't quite as uplifting as OPM, but on the whole this album is still pretty amazing and it's highly recommended ...- Read Vento's review (107 words)

'Original Pirate Material' supposedly showed a day in the life of an average 20-something year old male living in the drab streets of England. In 'A Grand Don't Come For Free', they pretty much show his entire life.
'A Grand Don't Come For Free' is a concept album, a CD with a story. Mike's the main character, an average fellow just like from the first CD. His life is normal, going out with friends Dan and Scott at night, and hanging out with his girl Simone in the day. But his simple life be ...- Read Darko's review (287 words and 2 comments)
