Good Points: Here is some good points I liked: A fine slingshot for beginers. Value for Money. Light weight. Cheap and easy to replace the powerband. Amazingly powerful with great accuracy.
General comments: This slingshot is fantastic before I bought this product I would had like to know the rage of the slingshot I would recomend it if you read the the shooting instructions with the slingshot and use some kind of saftey goggles to protect your eyes.

I'm reviewing my one from the early 90s. I'm sure they haven't changed much performance wise.
Back then I was in my early teens and over the course of a year bought all the Barnett catapult range, strike 9, BW, Pro Diablo and a few years later the cobra.
While I loved the Pro D it was a pain to carry about. So I bought the BW. Never looked back. It was easy to carry or conceal, in those days parents didn't like the thought of them. It was just as powerful as a Pro or a Cobra, I know this ...

Another good point is Barnett slingshots have no gimmicks like other brands, like "powerful slingshot!", "200 fps speed!", ect.
How powerful a slingshot isn't determined by the slingshot itself, but the powerbands. Any well-built slingshots can be as powerful with the right rubber band.

I have the new version with those red rubber thingies on the handle. The wrist brace seems to be longer than the old one and the yoke is slightly curved to the left side, I'm not sure if this is a kind of ergonomy. I never have the old version of black widow.
If you want to get the best power and speed for slingshots, you need to use flat bands. Only Saunders recognizes this. Surgical tube is slow. I attach latex flat bands on my black widow and it works excellently.

I brought it for 8 quid and dont regret it one bit, but it could do with a better band on it.
Its alot more powerfull than it looks, its simple to use, its cheap, its safe... for the user that is and its good fun, and its a barnett... now thiers something to brag to your mates about, a barnett slingshot WHAT A TOOL you'l look!!!
The only way of aiming the thing is via looking through the metal points, and because it was made to be an if you like entry level slingshot its pretty basic.

I love it for the fact it is quick and easy to use and also goes miles. I heard there used to be a stronger black rubber band for the black widow. Does anyone know where i can get one?
Thanx to the person that actually helps me lol

The Barnett Black Widow is an awesome slingshot. I found that the bands aren't always strong enough but on the whole its a fun and useful device. I use it a lot and practice shooting at beer cans and I can hit then from a long way off.

The barnett black widow is a mighty fine slingshot with a lot of power. The ball barings penetrate a piece of 3 mm plywood at a distance of 10 meters. It's also a very accurate slingshot, so it's fun to hit cans on a distance of 15 to 20 meters. I don't have any experience with hunting mammals and birds, but if i can penetrate a piece of plywood, it will definitly be affective to hunt small mammals and birds. The impact will give a reasonable shock effect on the animal and probably a certain dea ...

What kind of range would you estimate it can give, say using the .38" steel shot at a 45 degree angle of fire ?
Also, when you pull the sling back, it's easy for a long way, then you come to the end of the easy stretch. Is it safe to strain it past that point for extra range, or is that unwise ?

The Barnett Black Widow is small, light and agile. It does not have any counter weights but it's a powerful slingshot.

I found a dead pigeon and thought I would see what this beast would do if it hit a pigeon, and it broke its skull when fired at the back of its head and when I shot it in the body it went like halfway into the pigeon. I fired it diagonally and it went for miles and I smashed a bottle with it. I would recommend the Barnett Black Widow.

I decided to right another review considering my first one was rubbish! I recently managed to get a pigeon with the almighty black widow! It snapped its back, demonstrating the true deadliness of this high power hunting slingshot. Me and my friend spend ages blowing apart cans with it. The only problem is that we have to keep replacing the cans because one stone BLOWS THEM APART. I can confirm that this is more powerful than my dad's .22 air rifle. The sheer force that the stones can deliver nev ...

I've had the Barnett black widow slingshot now for roughly 4 years and the only thing I've had to replace is the rubber. This slingshot is, as it claims, "The original, the best" I wouldn't recommend it to young people unless they are experienced or have an understanding of serious weapons because, to be perfectly honest, the black widow is lethal. I'm surprised you don't need a fire arms license to own one. I can shoot my black widow for absolutely miles. It takes chunks out of brick walls. I f ...

The instructions for replacing the bands was rather short and could have included much more detail or alternative methods.
