Amoudi is a little village close to Alykanas and having avoided the over-development you'll find down at Laganas, for example, has managed to retain its Greek character. Most of the businesses in Amoudi are family-run and very personable and this is very much the case with the Amoudi Hotel which has seen a gradual development of its facilities over the last 6 years. During our 3 visits, the last with a three-year-old, we experienced nothing but friendliness from the locals and a keenness to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The owners of the Amoudi Hotel, were especially friendly and helpful and no doubt this level of client-care goes a long way to ensuring repeat business - many people we have met and read about, ourselves included, go there regularly and that speaks volumes.

The apartments and studios are all kept very clean, generally being attended most days by staff. There are changes of menu every day at the small poolside cafe/restaurant and if you fancy a change, there are half a dozen other restaurants within short walking distance. A kilometre away is Alykanas, so you're spoilt for choice there. Most of the fresh produce served at the Amoudi restaurant, comes from their gardens both next door and up the road a little way, so you know it hasn't been sitting around for days in some supermarket. The beaches (there are three very close to the hotel), although quite small, are sandy and shelve out very slowly so are great for kids. Being shallow, the water gets warm very quickly in the summer and small fish can be seen right up to the water's edge. Go snorkelling a bit further out and you'll find lots of pretty, bigger fish to look at.Car hire is very reasonably priced and you can get to anywhere on the island in less than an hour - as long as you don't get lost! (You'll only meet traffic if you go into Zakynthos town near rush hour and that's still nothing compared to, say Epsom High Street on a normal lunchtime for example). But that's half the fun so as long as you have a map, which the hotel or any car hire firm will give you anyway.

Night life is limited to the Camelot bar or bars/restaurants in the other hotels along the main street. If you want to go clubbing you'll need to go along to Alykanas or if you have transport, hit Laganas, Kalamaki or Argassi, for example. That said, it's very much a quiet resort for families and maybe couples who just want to chill out so if that's what you came for, it's no loss at all.I'll mention the pool because I'm a non-swimmer: Although it's shallow at one end, it shelves quite steeply to 2m deep at the far end so you need to keep an eye on the kids who will be out of their depth very quickly. Is that a bad point? Maybe just for me. That said, it's always kept very clean and generally people aren't encouraged to use it after dark.If hiring a car, some of the back-roads have big potholes - worse than UK despite the cuts in road maintenance - and if you bend the rims, which I did twice on one trip, you'll have to get them straightened at your cost - generally about ' 10 a go. (A garage mechanic with a club hammer basically bashes them straight again then reinflates the tyre!). Holiday hint: Don't drive too fast, enjoy the journey (the scenery is beautiful). And watch the road!

Hotel Amoudi Apartments offer excellent accommodation in a typically greek village.
Owners are a fine family and cannot be more accommodating.
Very close to shops, bus, tavernas and beaches.
We are returning this year after a memorable time last year.

Amoudi Apartments is located in Amoudi, a peaceful small village, which is 15 km from the city and the port of Zakynthos, 18 km from the airport and 2 km from the village of Alykes, where you can find everything you may need. So, it is necessary to have a car if you want to see all that Zakynthos has to show you. Sea is 200 m from the hotel, but is not the best beach in Zakynthos.

The Amoudi Apartments has 2 buildings with 20 rooms. Rooms have air-conditioning, TV, refrigerator and kitchen fa ...
