Good Points: Irish pub next door was shut, but another one just down the road, plus reasonable Chinese eatery and very good restaurant within 400 meters.
Bad Points: Bed linen not cleaned properly, there was biro marks on my sheets the twin beds were not the same and one was broken. The food in the place was poor, the meats were tasteless and tough, there was supposed to be an a'la carte menu, but when we asked for it we were told there was no a'la carte in the hotel but the literature in the room said there was. The breakfast was only bearable, they don't do fried eggs, unless you ask them to, and then it depends who is working that day. The Orange juice was actually only Orange Squash. The en-suite of our room stunk of dampness and mold, probably because the shower tray was very flimsy and gave way when you took a shower so was probably leaking.
General comments: This Hotel rates itself as 4 star, but in reality is only a 2star, Maltese star rating system is different to ours. Even though the hotel is at the cheaper end of the market, it is not good value for money as the food is so bad that if you are on half board you have to go out to eat to get some descent food.
I would NOT recommend anyone to stay in this hotel, the only reason we did not change hotel ( and several fellow guests did move after complaining) was we were only there for a week and did not want to waste a day of our holiday moving.

The staff were very helpful, room was clean and bedding and towels changed most days. The food was very good with lots of choice every day. You have to be quite fit too stay here as it is up a hill from the centre.

Having read all the reviews on here, myself and my daughter were so worried what we were letting ourselves in for. We bought a Lonely Planet Guide to Malta & Gozo and went fearing the worst. However, this holiday turned out to be a really pleasant and relaxing experience. We were in room 1004 which is actually fairly quiet in the evenings. If you want an all inclusive, then I suggest you don't go here as admittedly, the hotel reception is a bit dead and I would not have wanted to sit in the hot ...

Having been a frequent visitor to Malta and this area in particular I was very, very let down by the service and facilities of this hotel. It seems to be overrun by students who are supposedly there to learn English and when they come back from school in the afternoons they then run about the corridors shouting and knocking doors.
Then at night time, when most sensible people are trying to sleep, they start again. There have been children as young as 13 on these trips and they are totally unsu ...

Having read the reviews before we went, and reluctantly reassured by Airmiles staff that the reviews I had read were not to believed! We decided to arrive at The Crown with an open mind. The room was small but clean - that was the only good point. Then we tried to get the fold up bed replaced - for two days the staff appeared friendly, assuring us that a replacement bed was being looked for. Then on day three we encountered the hotel manager - he told us in no uncertain terms that there was noth ...

Having previously read several reviews on the Crown Hotel, I was pleasantly surprised by all aspects of facilities etc. I would definitely return.

I can honestly say this is the worst hotel I ever stayed in. It has nothing, absolutely nothing going for it and I strongly recommend that if you are going visit Malta do not stay at this hotel as it will totally ruin your experience and your holiday.

My 7 day vacation at the Crown Hotel in Malta was the most terrible vacation in my life. It was our first and our last visit to the Crown.

A four star hotel in Malta is not what you'd expect in most other countries. However, in relation to some neighbouring hotels, the Crown Hotel wasn't as bad as I'd first thought. The rooms do not have balconies so you rely on noisy air con. The hotel caters for large numbers of students, who ran riot generally. The food was rubbish, there were no snacks available for all inclusive guests and to get an ice cream, it would have been easier to get blood out a stone! The staff are making the best of ...

We booked into the Crown Hotel over the internet and then found some reviews on another website. Some of these weren't very complimentary so we were apprehensive about going here. We needn't have been. I agree that in Malta 4 star is not necessarily what you would find for the same rating in Tenerife or Spain but the 4 star rating ensured that air conditioning was available in all the rooms and a rooftop swimming pool, which some of the small hotels do not have.
We only booked bed and breakf ...

After an eight-hour delay out from Manchester (sorry, but not impressed with Air Malta), we arrived at midday Sunday. Being on B&B terms, we didn't need food from the hotel (see previous reviews) and went out. Five minutes walk and we were on the Bugibba sea front (with more eating places than you can shake a stick at - if you like milk shakes, try "George's" thick ones ... still, back to the Crown).
On arrival we found the room to be clean, and it was serviced every day, with clean towels s ...

We arrived at the Crown Hotel in Bugibba at 5am and went straight to our room. The top cover was dirty, and as it was hot we discarded it. The pillows stank of sweat, and we had to have them changed. We were all inclusive, which means drinks and meals in a abundance, so we thought! Going for our evening meal was a nightmare, as the restaurant was always full of students who ate everything in sight, and there was never much left by the time they had gone. The food was not replenished, so you had ...

Kettle, iron and bath. Forget it. Food at the Crown Hotel was basic and functional but lacking in taste. Breakfast became an ordeal due to lack of choice and taste. View from room-other peoples rooms. Air con was noisy and clearly a regurtitation of our own air but colder. Pool was decent and cold but could get windy as it is on roof as stupidly the barbeque was held there on friday when everything was held down. Remote control for limited television on deposit basis- BBC World an unexpected ble ...

Excellent value for money!! My daughter and I had a short break at the Crown Hotel. We chose this hotel because we knew it's location as my daughter has previously lived in St Paul's Bay. It is a very clean, friendly hotel. All amenities were catered for as far as we were concerned, even down to the loan of converter plugs for our mobile phone chargers! Nothing was too much trouble and the staff had all the info on hand that you would need to get around the island. The air conditioning was a go ...

My husband and I stayed at the Crown Hotel for New Year, we were very disappointed, if we were able to get a flight home after the second day we would have, how this hotel got a four star rating is beyond me, it is closing in February to be refurbished not before time! The rooms were very poor; the first room we stayed in had no window and was very dark and dismal. The bar closed every evening at eleven the first night we arrived couldn't get anything to eat because it was after eleven when we ...

Overall, I would not recommend Crown Hotel. My girlfriend and I have stayed in better quality travel lodges! We did not think it was worthy of a 4* rating, there is no way it would attain this in the UK. Our bedroom was not particularly impressive on the ground floor, it backed on to the kitchen, very noisy irate chefs yelling all the time and maids start cleaning at 5.30 in the morning which means you cannot have a lie in. Too noisy from the "entertainment point of view!" if you want an early n ...
