Despite its physical beauty, my love affair with this phone ended quickly. The software seems almost willfully frustrating, with nothing where you expect it to be and few options to customise (good example - if look up a name in your phone book, you can't directly text to that number!) The joystick control is used to bring the phone out of sleep mode, but moving it activates shortcuts (such as WAP) when you didn't want to.

For the usual price, Sony Ericsson T610 is a good phone with some nice features, but the camera isn't that good. You can barely make something out because of the quality, and it's not even VGA. Nonetheless, it's a good valued phone. You might have difficulties with the joystick after a couple of months of using it. (read more)

The Sony Ericsson T610 is a good, average mobile phone with a nice design. It hasn't gone wrong once yet. The only thing was that reception wasn't brilliant, but it was good enough. Maybe it's time that I bought a new mobile phone! I've had the Sony Ericsson T610 since November 2004, and for the last 5 months i.e. out of warranty, I have been unable to send picture messages, access WAP or use some of the other connectivity features. This is despite fairly constant re-programming. In its time this phone was a definite market leader, and I suppose I still keep it as my personal phone out of a sense of having got used to it, and after all it makes and receives phone calls... When you first turn the Sony Ericsson T610 mobile phone on, you can't get to the messaging section for about ten seconds. If you press the buttons loads of times, it remembers every move, so when it wakes up it will go through each of those presses first!! Once on though, it is fine, and the menu is good. However, if you have gone down too far and want to scroll up again using the joystick, it can be very fiddly, and will select the thing you don't want. In bright sunlight you can't see... (read more)

This phone is great to be precise, it's got a great screen and loads of great options. Ringtones, pics and themes are all great. The camera is fantastic, my first and best! I love the centre control- a joystick, it means I can easily navigate through the menu. Everything is easy to access and it has great memory. There are loads of shortcuts, to name a few:
Pushing the joystick left- new text
Pushing the joystick down- numbers
Pushing the joystick up- internet
Camera icon on side- camera

I was an avid Nokia user. And for some unknown reason, I decided to get the Sony Ericsson T610 as my upgrade. It was the worst mistake that I made. Unfortunately, I only discovered this after the 7 day exchange period had run out. The Volume is too quiet, the whole phone seizes up for no reason and you end up having to turn it off. I am currently on my 6th T610 Handset. It cannot get a signal in most of my house but can get a signal under some tunnels.
Quite often I will call someone when I put the handset in my pocket.
The camera is OK for little pics.

Sony Ericsson T610: I got my T610 for £90 with £11 free credit from Carphone wharehouse. The phone is quite good looking and isn't a "brick", very light infact. The phone is quite slow when switching between menus and sometimes your signal disappears for no reason. Sony Ericsson's seem to suffer from this defect though, my old T68i became totally U/S after about a month.

Mine was an upgrade having been an avid Nokia user for quite a few years. The menu control structure is completely NON intuitive - everything takes three times longer to do with this phone compared to my old Nokia.
The phone would be usable by a Hobbit. The buttons are tiny and unpositive to use - you wonder if button presses actually register.
Operation of the device became unreliable after a few weeks moderate use.

When I first got the T610 phone just over a year ago I absolutely loved it. Was a massive improvement on Sony J70. It is simple to use via central joystick and picture menus similar in style to Windows/Palm OS. Got the T610 as an upgrade to a 8310. It's certainly a smart phone with bags of functionality. The trouble is that it's more difficult to do the simple things (lookup/edit a number or even make a call for that matter!) than most Nokias. These icon driven menu systems will surely be ditched once the gimmick factor has gone. If you want all singing all dancing stuff then this may be the phone for you. This really is the worse phone that I have ever owned. I will elaborate on the bad points:
The ring volume is too quiet. Although there is a vibro function, this doesn't always seem to work. I've had many occasions where the phone has been in my pocket and I've missed calls as I didn't know the phone was ringing.

The Sony Ericsson T610 is really easy to use. Or maybe they all are nowadays? I remember when the only simple ones were Nokia. But this is very nearly as easy as a Nokia, except for the fact that the key to make a space in a text is the hash key not the zero, so the first few messages I sent had + signs between each word.
One fun thing that I really enjoy is that I can assign pictures and ring tones to my contacts. So when my son rings me a photo of him flashes up and it plays a Blink182...

I got a T610 a year ago as a free upgrade - just as well, it isn't worth a penny. Worst phone I have ever had. Was really chuffed to start with and ignored a colleague who said she hated her T610. Sony Ericsson T610 - It's a rather good phone to start with. The responsiveness of the keypad is comparable with Nokia standards. This is what I really liked. The camera starts up quite quickly but resolution does not reach up to Samsung standards although it's a 65k colour screen phone. The ringtone is also quite good and supports up to 32 chords, which is much better than most Nokia phones which only supports up to 16 chords. The reason lies mostly in the degradation of the performance of the software with the increased memory usage and time. I got the SE T610 phone on an O2 online contract because I wanted to change from Nokias which I have ALWAYS had. Originally I ordered the Z600 but they didn't have any in stock, so I went for the T610.
And I can honestly say it is a million times better than any of the Nokias I have owned. I love this phone, I might not even upgrade when my contract is up! It's perfect for me!

I've had my T610 for about 10 months now, & I was very happy to begin with.
Now I have problems with it locking up & giving me the dreaded 'blue screen of doom', & the back button works as & when it feels like it.
If you want to view the screen in sunlight you are well out of luck as well.
In its defence, the ringtone quality is excellent.

I've had 2 T610 - and my current one is on its last legs after a year. The buttons don't work so all I can do is see who is calling me.
Apart from the fault I have to admit the time when it did work this lil thing was pretty nifty, ok so now it's been super-seeded by the T630 and soon enough you got the T650 and the K700i is already out. But for the price you can pick these phones up now for, it is well worth it.

I am afraid we are all disappointed. The comments range from "poor display", "can't see anything in sunlight", "cursor key has a mind of its own", "poor quality photos" and "over-complex menu". If you want a phone to impress, you are a teenager or you want small with features, then this is the one for you. But if you want to use a phone in anger, you're busy or you can't be bothered...

For me, I have found it to be an awkward phone to own. The screen gets easily scratched, requiring a case which bulks it out, negating its small size advantage. I had this Sony Ericsson T610 mobile phone for 2 months before selling it on Ebay and replacing with a Nokia 7250i (thank GOD).
The phone was... HORRIBLE! The text message facility is mickey mouse- so slow, there is no quick way of doing it. Texts are saved ALL the time- sent, unsent, blank texts.. using up LOADS of memory.
Ringtones are appalling, can't even hear them. There is no way of turning off the ascending ringtone yet an option to turn it on.. when it's standard anyway!!

The Sony Ericsson T610 is good if one wants a mobile phone that is simple and easy to use. but if you are someone who expects a lot for a camera phone, this model is going to let you down. No doubt it gives users 65k colours, the memory space is only a miserable 2MB! that means, if you want to store pictures, this model only allows you to store a maximum of 16 pics before u are prompted to delete some pics.

I change my phone every year as I'm a bit of a gadget nerd.
This Sony Ericsson T610 mobile phone has to be one of the most unreliable on the market.
The battery life is nowhere near that stated by the manufacturer.
The phone continually freezes with no explanation causing a lengthy reboot.
Software which I have downloaded and paid for disappears.
I have had the firmware upgraded but still the same things keep happening.
Sony Ericsson have the poorest support service imaginable and Carphone...

When I bought this Sony Ericsson T610 mobile phone, I was always an ardent Nokia fan. Contrary to my expectations, this phone has been great! This is an excellent phone except you have to pay up to 30pounds for FM handsfree and the screen is sometimes impossable to see in sunlight which makes it hard to show off its features.

I've always been an 'Ericsson man' back from the first mobile phone I bought ten years ago. This was an upgrade from the T39 (superb phone) as I wanted the colour screen.

A lot of the Nokia mobile phones out now are pretty lame and tacky looking, so no excitement there!

I upgraded to this Sony Ericsson T610 mobile phone last year from a t68i that I had for a year.
Obviously the camera was a complete improvement and I'm still very happy with the camera. The phone itself is good, a very handy size but the screen does tend to scratch easily.
The battery life I have never found to be a problem but the reception can be a problem if you are indoors.
The built in mms and wap menus are good but the overall menu design can be difficult to navigate.

This Sony Ericsson T610 is my second Sony Ericsson after the T68i. I absolutely love this little handset. It comes with everything. Granted the camera could be a tad sharper but when considering that the t610 mobile phones main rival is the god awful nokia 7250i, then i think the t610 is doing a good job.
In terms of features it has everything. Including bluetooth, you can actually play games through the bluetooth function eg mini golf. and it also has infared.

I had this Sony Ericsson T610 mobile phone for exactly two weeks before returning and cancelling my T-Mobile contract. However, I have had second thoughts. I think it was the phone not the T-Mobile coverage that was at the root of the problem. Am going to give the Motorola V300 a shot. Perhaps it will work out better. This was not what I expected from Sony. The other thing was it would get real sluggish on me. Sometimes the "back return" key would not function as I would expect it to. (read more)

For me the first time I used the Sony Ericsson T610, I dreamed that I had came to the end of the world. This phone made me big in the community I was living because all people where like asking me were I had got it from. I also liked it's battery for the long hours it takes, its phone book, and the ringtones. Ooh what a phone!
