Good Points: ACCURATE, heavyweight model, field strips!
Bad Points: Don't know for sure if Y&P is the actual manufacturer! No "dots" on the sights
General comments: Aloha all!
Just picked up another G17 Springer...it came in a black box w/ the model designation numbers on the side and nothind else. Yet, inside the box, came the complimentary 100 .12g bb's with a Y&P "cover" over them. This one differs from my first one in that the barrel is threaded for a silencer, which I also got.
This G17 Heavyweight is extremely accurate! I have had the experience of seeing this gun shoot .12's w/ a flat line trajectory out to about 25 yards! (Slowly after about 15 yds. but straight none the less!) Groupings CTC outdoors from about 10 yds. under 3 inches, pretty imressive to me! Anything within this range it'll hit dead on! Although I noticed the silencer, which threads on counter clockwise affects the accuracy IF it's locked on crooked. Just something to be aware of.
The amazing thing about this G17 is that it field strips very similar to my real G17! All you do is move the slide back a bit, then you must remove the plate behind the slide, which just slides downward. Then pull down on the slide release tabs located forward of the trigger guard on the receiver and just push the slide forward. You can check out the recoil rod, the barrel, spring, piston cup, etc...You can actually upgrade the spring for more fps!
12's are for best velocity and distance. .20's (Max!) are good for close range accuracy. OBTW-NO dots on the sights...put these on yourself for low light/ hassle free shooting.
If you ever come across one of these in the plain black box, GET IT! You will be amazed!
