Gustav Holst, The Planets - This is a wonderful performance of a memorable piece of work by Holst. Influenced heavily by British folk, Holst composed a series of tone poems to represent the planets and the Roman Gods after which they were named. The music is highly evocative and many people may remember this fondly from having heard it as background music without having known what it was.
