I have the Aerox R SP55 which i've had for 3days and find it excellent except for one small issue the speedo due to it bein inaccurate it will say 35mph on the flat but really it's only doing 30mph and when going down a hill the speedo will read 50mph and the bike is only doing 40mph this is really confusing. I think that maybe when I de-restrict my bike it may be more accurate. Best way to de-restrict your bike is to take the washer out of the air box and cut the small extra piece off the... (read more)

Aerox R is very good reliable scooter , I've had mine for 6 months now and not a single thing has gone wrong. To de-restrict this scooter you will need to take the washer out of the variator (wich will add 10 mph + on top end) then in order to de-restrict the exhaust fully you will need to buy a racing exhaust. My racing exhust was road legal when I got it but I got a piece of paper telling mre how to take the two restrictors out of it!! Which is very simple (one in the muffler) and (the end... (read more)

Buy a 70cc cylinder, perhaps a new racing clutch, a race variomatic and a bigger carburetor. There are lot's of ways to get the Yamaha YQ50 to run faster. Buy the above items, and you should easily get it to run at 70 mph at least. Check out www.scooter-attack.de. They sell lots of tuning parts for scooters. They are located in Germany, but just to get an idea of what to buy and the prices.

I had my Yamaha YQ50 Aerox R for round 6 months until I changed it for a Gilera DNA. The Aerox was a 2001 Virgin mobile replica. The bike was great while I owned it. It was very fast, and it couldn't be beaten by any other 50cc scooter in town, but I think the previous owner did something to the engine to give it the extra power, which might explain why the engine packed up and has been rebuilt four times (not by me). Sadly I have found this bikes handling to be unimpersive in comparison to other models.
The exhaust is a problem (the little tube that bends underneath) has had to be rewelded about three times now. The scooter is good on fuel and the large tank helps. In my opinion the the bike gussle's 2-stroke. The build quality is poor if the bike is left outside. The screws begin to rust and the choke button has fallen of so now i have to pull the wire.
