For years I have used black liquid eyeliner, however the past few bottles I have purchased over 4 months have caused a bad reaction.I know it is this product as I discontinued using it for 2 weeks and re-applied another "new"bottle and had a worse reaction. My eyelids began to get red, itchy over several hours. By the time I got home from work my eyes were swollen, itchy red and becoming flaky on eyelashes.I washed it off and woke up with swollen eyes still, flaky -looked infected. This... (read more)

The brush was perfect easy to put on and it looked perfect afterwards but recently I had to buy new one and my eyes got red itchy burning also I'm really upset been trying to find something that compares to this bc I love me some eyeliner, but I can't. Wow this was the first and only eyeliner I use to wear. It was the best. Last year aprox July 2010 I bought another one and much to my surprise I started getting really bad swollen eyes and my eyes started burning. I never thought it would be the eyeliner since I had been using this for 12 years. I switched everything else mascara ..eyeshadow and brushes 7 months later I finally figured out it was the damn eyeliner. Very disappointed. I will never buy another loreal product they screwed up... What Happened??? I've used this product for as long as I can remember. Two months (July 2010) I bought the eyeliner and the next day my eyes became red, swollen, crusty. It took a whole week for the problem to go away. I suspect L'oreal might have changed the product's consistency to save money. It is too bad they lost another customer. DO NOT AT ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BUY THIS PRODUCT!!! (read more)

OMG! I thought it was me! I have also used Loreal liner for years and years and would use no other because I loved it and then one day I got the red, swollen, crusty eyes as others and had to go to the eye doctor. It took weeks to heal and I didn't want to think it was my liner so I bought another new liner and used it and the same thing happened again. Shame on Loreal for changing a good thing!! (read more)

I have used Loreal Liquid Eyeliner for over 10 years. I bought a new eyeliner about a month ago and when I used it, under my eyes got red, swollen, crusty, itchy and unbearably sore. I thought I had pink eye or something. The doctor said no and gave me eye allergy eye drops and ointment to put on them. It took almost 3 weeks to get better. I used the eyeliner again and it happened again, this time it looked like I had a red liner on, they looked burned. I finally realized it was the... (read more)

As with all the reviews about this product, I agree, it has made my eyes sore etc etc. But, personally I think that's because the bottle was pretty old anyways (I had the same one for about 8 months).
But, it is without a doubt one of the best eyeliners I have ever used! Easy to put on in the morning, and pretty easy to take off it night :) Just fab people, despite puffy eyes lol.

I too used this eyeliner for 20 years with no problem. They ruined the product by changing the formula. I get swollen blistered eyelids from the new one. tossed it out bought another one same thing, waited a few months, bought another one. same problem. I would LOVE to talk with a company rep to see what the change in ingredients is so I dont waste money buying another product that will irritate my eyes. Has anyone found a good replacement for this eyeliner? Pencil dosent work for me. (read more)

I too have used LOreal Eyeliner for years. I always use black. In May I threw out my old bottle and bought a new one and after using it my eyelids where really sore and red around the lash area I had oozing and inflammation. I stopped using it for a month threw out that bottle and bought a new one used it once and my lash area was very red and sore and oozing, removed it and by morning my eyes were almost swollen shut they hurt so badly I could hardly stand it. It took 3 days for them... (read more)

I have been a faithful user of Loreal Eyeliner for years. I have always used the brown/black and loved it. I recently about almost 2 weeks ago went and purchased it in black. I applied it and within two hours I notice my eyes were burning and itchy. I continued to use it and now my eyes are super puffy and where I use my eyeliner is all red and flaky. It's really sad this had to happen as I love Loreal's eyeliner, but it's not worth using if I'm going to get this sort of reaction. (read more)

I too have used L'Oreal Liquid Eyeliner for years (at least10)and loved it. However about a few months ago, I've noticed that after wearing the eyeliner for more than 4 hours gave me a "weeping" eyelash line and eyelash dandruff (complete with crusties overnight ugh) and a red line where the eyeliner was applied. The skin here was also peeling. I thought I got a bad batch so after the area healed I bought another tube and same thing happened. If I don't wear the eyeliner I don't have the... (read more)

I, too, have inflamed eyelids when using Loreal liquid eyeliner. There is a red line that appears on the top of my lash line and the corners of my lids are a bit swollen. I have used this product for years and for the last month have encountered this problem.

Have you found a liquid eyeliner that does not have this reaction?

I used Loreal superliner in black for about 4 years. I used to get it in a gold wand but the last one I bought was in the purple bottle. I believe they must have changed it or I have a bad product because the liner liquid is very wishy washy and takes a long time to dry. It also rubs off very easily and leaves lines where I open my eyes. I am very disappointed because this eyeliner used to be my favourite - I used to wear it nearly everyday. I now started using a cheap brand from Superdrug -... (read more)

I have used L'Oreal eyeliner for more years than I can remember and have always loved it. A couple of weeks ago (if that) I bought it as usual, however after a very short period of time my eyelids started to sting and it was so hard to get the eyeliner off. I actually had to scrape the hard parts with my fingernail and still couldn't get it all off. When going to reapply there were bumps around my eyes that made it hard to put the eyeliner on straight. I thought I must have just got a... (read more)

This LOreal Eyeliner Superliner is excellent if you are new to liquid eyeliner and it's also great for seasoned users who want a thicker line without having to spend ages drawing and filling the line with one of those poxy little tiny brush applicators. The pen design is great. It's thick and the eyeliner comes out evenly. It's a bit like a felt pen really.
I have been using this brand for about three years; a bottle lasts me on average about 6 months and I use it every day! I have had no...

I've have used L'Oreal eyeliner for twenty years. But the last two I've bought has broken my eyelids. My eyelids have swollen and got blisters where the eyeliner was. It took almost a month before I could even think about trying it again. I bought another L'Oreal at a different store and it happened again. My eye doctor asked me what in the world I put on my eyes. He prescribed some medicine it has helped. Did you change the eyeliner? I have worn it forever without breaking out. Please... (read more)

I had the same thing happen! I had worn Loreal eyeliner (black) for at least 10 years. In late 2007 I started having a problem with my eyelids swelling and itching, to the point that they actually peeled. I went to my opthalmologist, thinking I had an eye infection. The eye drops didn't work, and after a month of misery, I was referred to an allergist. I had a series of allergy tests, and the conclusion was an allergy to an ingredient found in hair color. I switched to a natural haircolor product, but the problem persisted. I was then referred to a dermatologist, who said it was a contact allergy to my eye make-up. Once I changed eyeliners, the problem went away. Loreal must have changed their eyeliner formula, as I never had the problem before. I wrote them for the ingredients in their eyeliner, and none were on the list of things I was allergic to? I loved the thin brush and ease of application, but it wasn't worth the itching.
