I found a lump, rather large one on my dog on Sunday. Very concerned we took him to the vets on monday. Due to the sudden appearance and the size and because it could not be determined exactly what this was, they recommended immediate removal. This has amounted to a £554.00 bill which Churchill, after informing them of this, about 25 seconds later stated that we aren't covered and it is for emergency accident cover only. the policy does state that this policy covers us for up to £500.00... We took out our pet insurance with churchills as we "thought" they were a repitable company....WE WERE SOOO WRONG!..When we took out the policy, we called to confirm that if our dog became ill we could make a claim, this due to being ripped off a few years prior with our old dog. They said yes this is the policy you need. We are now in our third year, having stayed with them, paying £35 a month. Our dogs legs were buckling under him and he was struggling to breath, so we took him to the... (read more)

I recently made a claim regarding my dogs shoulder!! Churchill initially refused to pay stating my dog had previously had a previous condition for his leg. This was a condition relating to a puppy which had cleared up. My vet sent a report disputing their findings stating his condition was bursitis in his shoulder. Churchill then accepted this but then refused to pay out because in previous vet notes there was mention of a stiff elbow!! Something which was never treated nor claimed for.... (read more)

Had Churchill Pet insurance for nearly 12 months when had to make a claim, dog had an ear infection. Churchill asked for the pets TOTAL medical records from the birth of the dog! They then waited 4 weeks before calling me to say that they would not pay the claim as their nurse had reviewed all her notes and had linked her ear infection to one other 12 months before.. I called my vet (Churchill would not do this) and he explained that it is impossible to link such cases so I asked... (read more)

I just want to point out that this is not for life cover. It is per condition, so once your dog has used up the benefits for that condition, you are on your own. (read more)

Extremely helpful customer services - recently found problem with my policy which had accidentally been cancelled by them some time ago, they let me back date the policy and pay the full premium and make a claim immediately - can't say fairer than that !! (although they had cancelled the policy by mistake, I hadn't checked my statements either to see that the money wasn't being taken from the account by DD). In all although they don't cover as much as other more expensive companies I would... (read more)

A good policy for anyone with a new or younger dog. I didn't like that they only offered 5% online discount, I liked Direct Line's £20 towards vaccinations offer, but still decided to go with Churchill as they were the cheapest provider. (read more)

I had been with Churchill for 11 years, my premiums suddenly went up 280% in one year, even though I had not made a claim that year. I understand that as my dog was now 13 that the chance of making a claim is higher but the premium increase was almost threefold and an astounding jump in price. I am going elsewhere for my insurance (read more)

This review just highlights the general problem with all Pet Insurance i.e. when your pet gets old they all charge you a lot more. Its not something unique to any insurer, in fact there are some like Pet Plan who charge even more for old pets than a value for money player such as Churchill.
