Bad Points: Poor administration and misguided advice.

General comments: I moved to Argos pet insurance last year, unfortunately I had to have my dog put to sleep in February of this year, Argos told me to submit a claim for his treatment prior to his death, treatment was £120, less £60 excess. I then received a letter asking for the rest of the years premium £240, despite them telling me to submit a claim. Needless to say this would have left out of pocket so I cancelled the claim. I received an apology and a £10 gift voucher. However I received a letter this Saturday (27/06/09) still demanding the £240. I spoke to their credit department on Saturday and was told it was an oversight and received a cursory apology. I also sent an e-mail to their customer services on the same day, but they have not had the decency to reply as of yet

We have claimed numerous times for our Great Dane as he has been diagnosed with hip displasia and also have been poorly few times. Argos pay out really quickly (1 - 2 weeks), no questions asked.

We took insurance out for our kitten and 6 months later our kitten was hit by a car. He had a broken pelvis along with other minor injuries. We had to use an emergency vet and then he was transferred to our own vet. We had to put two claims in for this. I cannot praise Argos Pet Insurance enough. They paid out the full amount (minus excess) with great speed! They were helpful and straight forward on the phone too. We spent a great deal of time choosing our insurance, our vet wanted us to ...

We choose the Gold Plan with Argos Pet Insurance, all looked good and we were happy with them. Then totally unexpectedly on 4th December our darling puppy of 6 months tragically died from anaphylactic shock from the anesthetic, when going in for a routine operation (the death is not linked to the surgery as this had not yet started and she had only just gone under). A couple of days later we contacted Argos about this and wanted to claim on the death of a pet due to an accident Section 3 we want ...

Cat had optional blood test before dental surgery (recommended by Vet as he is 10 years old). Showed low blood count, so few more tests and re-tests needed. All costs paid (including initial, optional test) except dental surgery (which I knew wasn't covered) and £60 that I have to pay towards any claim. Better than I expected!

I renewed my policy with Argos Pet insurance a month before my little dog died of a condition she had been treated for for 3 months. What I didnt realise was that you have to continue paying the full premiums until the next renewal date in the event of your pet dying whilst a claim is in. If I had known that I would not have renewed my insurance and paid the vet direct. As it is Argos have taken 10 months of premiums from the vets and now I owe the vet the money they thought was coming from the ...

Argos have just increased the monthly cost of my dogs from less than £20 a month each to £75 a month for one dog and nearly £50 a month each for the other two dogs! I have not had any claims on this insurance for two years so this is shocking!

I was pleased to get platinum cover last year for £8 per month. I was prepared for a rise this year as it was a special offer. However I was not prepared to go from £8 up to £22!

Thoroughly recommend Argos Pet Insurance - glad we moved from Pet Plan, who became unaffordable following constant yearly increases and higher excess's etc.

Very easy to deal with. Polite friendly people, that you can understand, on the other end of the phone. Best value for money we found so we took one out for the dog and a linked one for the cat.

We have two policies with Argos pet insurance and we have yet to be disappointed. Our puppy required two eye surgeries only months after we got home (so only months after our policy began.) Argos sent the large sums of settlement to us within two weeks of receiving the claim. No quibble.I called to find out what would happen to our premiums and I was told they would remain the same until the following year only because prices only increase with inflation. Policy prices do not increase based on c ...

Argos pet insurance has been brilliant. We have made three claims and never had any hassle. One of our claims was very expensive, nearing £2000. We received our refund cheque promptly and with no quibble. Unfortunately our dog died as a result of his illness and Argos, true to their word, paid the death benefit. I will use them again and can recommend them highly.

When we needed the insurance, because my cat had an operation which cost us £800 plus other tests, Argos Pet Insurance dealt with our vet and completed all the necessary work. It was a great service indeed!
