    DISGRACEFUL! TRYING TO GET TREATMENT FOR MY PET AND HAVE BEEN TOLD I'LL HAVE TO WAIT BECAUSE THEY CURRENTLY HAVE A SMALL BACKLOG OF CLAIMS TO AUTHORISE, WHEN I ASKED HOW LONG THE 'SLIGHT' BACKLOG WAS I WAS TOLD THEY WERE CURRENTLY DEALING WITH CLAIM FORMS THAT CAME IN ON 14TH OCTOBER!! WHEN I TOLD THEM THAT MY PET NEEDED TREATMENT NOW AND COULDN'T WAIT FOR THEM TO CATCH UP WITH THEIR 6 WEEK BACKLOG I WAS TOLD I SHOULD USE MY JUDGEMENT AND PAY FOR HIS TREATMENT MYSELF!! ISN'T THAT THE WHOLE POINT OF PET INSURANCE SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY HUGE UNFORSEEN BILLS? WISH I HAD READ REVIEWS ON THIS COMPANY BEFORE PARTING WITH ANY CASH! WOULD AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS THEY ARE AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE & SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO CONTINUE CONNING PEOPLE OUT OF THEIR MONEY UNDER THE GUISE OF OFFERING A QUALITY PRODUCT. THE ONLY REASON I'VE GIVEN ONE STAR IS THERE ISN'T AN OPTION OF A LOWER RATING!

    Never have i known a company to be so unhelpful. I really wish I had researched these before insuring my cat with them for the last 6 years.

    Had cat put to sleep in July, finally heard today that they cannot continue with the claim as I can't prove where she had her jabs. This is after trying every other excuse they could think of.

    Stay clear, do not use....

    Happy to take your money every 28 days but wont pay out.....

    I have rated as one star because the system would not allow me to scoe as zero!!
    I have had my pet insurance with E&L for over 10 years & have previously made claims all of which were addressed & handled reasonably promptly with payment being made in a couple of months. That was then..........

    i wouldn't give them any rating because they are so poor. I was one of the lucky ones who didn't take out a policy with E&L (Excuses&Lies!). I got a quote when i got my dog and everything about it was too good to be true, it wasn't until i started researching them that i found out just how disgraceful they were.     I,ve never known such poor customer service from any company ----rude unhelpful & they try to wriggle out of paying genuine claims, they are exceptionally slow with claims.

    I would only give a minus rating on all catagories.

    absolutely the worst insurance company i have ever dealt with, i paid out over 2k for treatment for my dog and today i have received a cheque for £431.00,very good at trying to find reasons not to payout for any claim or to try and insist its is a pre-existing condition.NEVER get to talk to anyone on the phone or get any response from them,didnt get any insurance documents sent,then they change policy to exclude the condition the dog has, absolutely stay well away from the company, they re ...

    I made the original claim in Aug and have sent in continuation forms, one going in today and up to date 22nd Oct 09 they have not paid out. Every time I call to check I get a very rude and obnoxious person on the other end who tells me they are not up to that date yet.
    They have told me 5 times that they will contact me to no avail. Cost has gone up. They are the worst insurance company I have everdealt with. Everyone-STAY CLEAR- Dont waste your money.

    I took out pet insurance with this company, after 3 months I received a letter from them querying payment with a slip on the bottom to fill in and send back if I wished to cancel the policy. This I did and found they had still been taking the monthly premium out of my bank account for several months after! After contacting them, someone telephoned and disputed I had cancelled the policy ~ terrible company to deal with ~ steer clear!!!!

    A truly appalling company to deal with. Echoing the remarks of other reviews, it is impossible to get through on the phone, a simple claim has been with them since 2 September and to date we have not received payment. Out of interest I also tried their emergency number - no reply on that one either so better hope no policy holders have an emergency whilst with this company.

    Deliver a very poor service when it comes to making a claim, take upto two months to settle a claim. Do not deliver what they state when you take out the policy.

    I find E&L to be the worst Pet Insurance company out there!
    You can never reach them by phone - it doesn't matter what time you ring. You email them and it takes them forever to respond - and when they do the answer is vague and very simple and doesn't answer your question in the first place.
    Their customer service is dreadful - they are rude and unhelpful.
    Most Vet surgeries warn you against them because they take so long to resolve a claim - that they won't allow this insurance company to pay ...

    I always had trouble actually speaking to someone.I am very annoyed at how long my claim took to sort out.It was all very straight forward.
    Then to learn that e&l are now excluding alot of things my horse has never had!How can they do this after I have paid my years insurance..covering everything???

    I insured my 3 year old boxer with E&L because my premium had gone up quite a lot with Virgin insurance (who I never made a claim with). At the age of 4 Charlie was diagnosed with heart disease. It is very serious and is costing a great deal of money in treatment and ongoing drugs. E&L seemed helpful at first when I checked if I was covered for him to see a specialist.     I am so fed up with E&L. I have never had to claim to date, so can't comment on their ability to pay out or not, but I am absolutely sick to death of their constant adding things to your monthly premium - so much so that for one of my cats the cost of insuring it went up from £5.80 to just over £12 PER MONTH simply due to them adding on 'fantastic offers'.     i had insurance for both dog and horse,unfortunatly my dog needed treatment for lameness,she was refered to cambridge vet college,my bill was over £500,i put a claim in with eandl,to be told 3 months after putting claim in that they would not pay because her lameness was conjenital!!,ive had my dog from 8 weeks old she is now 2 yrs old,i wouldnt touch these people with a barge pole,a total waste of time and definatly money,both my policies are now cancelled,my vets did warn me about them a ...

    I have unfortunately had to make two claims in the first year that I have used E&L. The service from this insurance company is appalling. My first claim took 3 months for a payment to be made and I am still waiting for a claim made in July. It is impossible to speak direct to the claims department and emails are often ignored. I will not use them again and would not recommend them to anyone.

    How they get away with their terrible and uncaring service I fail to know.Fortunately (for them) our last retriever lived to 10years (no claim)Our new!!! retriever is now 11 and requires drugs running more than a year. Forget it ,avoid this company you have been warned.Read their small print if you dare. Almost allegedly sharp practice.They must make aware in large print they will not entertain any long term problems whatsoever

    AFTER FOOLISHLY TAKING A POLICY WITH PET INSURANCE.CO.UK (AGAINST THE ADVICE OF FRIENDS AND THE PROFFESSIONALS),I HAD TO SUBMIT A CLAIM. I HAVE NOW BEEN WAITING FOR 39 DAYS FOR MY MONEY BACK ON A SIMPLE CLAIM. THEY CAN T TELL YOU ANY INFO ON YOUR CLAIM OR WETHER OR NOT YOUR GET A CHEQUE BACK THIS DECADE!. I AM SO TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED THAT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU NEVER INVEST YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY IN TO SUCH A INCOMPETENT COMPANY.

    First claim made 8 weeks ago - have been with them for 6 years. They have found excuse not to pay up. Customer Service is absolutely non existent. They bump the price up each year and going by what I have been told in a letter today advising they will not be paying out that when you get your renewal each year you must tell them if your pet has been to the vet for treatment, then they can decide whether they will continue to insure the animal for that particular ailment.
