I'm just writing to contradict Mr XX's review. You can put in money to First Direct's internet savings account at any time. You do lose the (high) rate of interest in any month that you make a withdrawal, except for withdrawals made on the first of the month. You just have to be a bit organised not to be penalized. Like with everything First Direct offer (and I have used many of their financial products over many years) they are professional and efficient and everything they say will happen does happen. I recommend them generally and this product works just fine.

There is only one day in any month that you are open to a withdrawal from your First Direct saving account if you do not wish to loss any interest. While their bank account pays merely 1.58%, eventually I realised it was not worth it. There are other banks that offer much better deals.
