I have had the american express blue card since 2002. I have used it less these days because the interest rate is non-comptetitive, but still use it rarely for international travel. I had a 0 balance in February 2014. Without warning, their wallet protector service auto-billed to it in March 2014 ($39.99). This was the only charge that billing cycle. I did not check the statement since I had not used the card. There was no warning of the impending charge. In April 2014, American… Read Full Review

I have an American Express card only because Costco does not accept other credit cards. Most small stores do not accept AE. Visa and MasterCards are much better to use. Here is my recent experience with American Express which makes me dislike the AE card even more. In the early days, only businesses can have costco/priceClub cards. I had mine through a friend who had a business. Earlier this year they closed their costco member, and I had to apply a new costco card. And has to apply for a… Read Full Review

I paid off three credit cards in JULY 2012, called and got a 10 day payoff and they were only credit card company that does not offer this in writing. Paid off and mailed check, 4 days later check cashed, 12 days later posted. Got a check in the mail for an overpayment. The following month received a bill for $43.00 and called and told it was a mistake and they will remove the charge. The following month a charge of over $70.00 showed and called. Not only was charges a $25.00 late fee, but… Read Full Review

I rarely use this AE card, while I was traveling I made a purchase on the card. American Expres never sent me a bill (paper or electronic) I forgot about it and since I never received a bill I did not pay the account. Eventually they sent me an electronic notice that my account was delinquint and it had been suspended. I immediately paid it off and called them to investigate the problem. They agreed to reverse the late fees and write a letter the each of the credit agencies explaining that they… Read Full Review

I been carrying American express for the last 12 years and for last 12 years I been paying my bill full amount. 3months ago I try to pay minimum balance just to see how it works. Next bill I notice there charge the 40$ interest rate. So I made the full payment to avoid the interest rate. Even though I paid the full payment again I notice 89$ interest rate for nothing. I call customer service and there couldn't help and I was very upset and closed my account and made my full payments Now… Read Full Review

Today I rcvd 2 identical letters dated on different dates saying that AMEX was cancelling my card in 4 days time, saying that they had written to me before to warn of this. I called up and was told that AMEX are withdrawing Blue cards and the decision is final. I told them that I had not rcvd any warning but they also alerted me to the fact that they sent 6 closure letters to me, 2 of which I rcvd. They could not explain why they sent me 6 identical closure letters. I have been with AMEX for… Read Full Review

Americ*nt AxePress is a waste of your time. I've had them 'twice' in my lifetime, and both times they suddenly and without merit, cancelled my membership without warning. I had been prompt and ALWAYS PAID ON TIME OR BEFORE MY DEADLINE.
so, I have to tell you they absolutely SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!… Read Full Review

As a customer for over 20 years, I needed to charge $975 on my card today. I called to check that no terms/LIMITS had changed and they had not. I went to make the charge and was rejected because they LOWERED my LIMIT to my balance within the 30 minutes! THAT IS A SCAM!
This is true and I have the papertrail proof… Read Full Review

I have been an American Express card holder for over 20 years with an impeccable payment history . I have put up with a 15% interest rate long enough. I called and asked if they could lower my interest rate based on my history; the response was an immediate no. Okay, no problem. I will pay off my remaining balance and get a CC that is more user friendly and appreciates customer loyalty… Read Full Review

I have been an American express platinum card holder for over 20 years and was recently stranded because of the Volcanic ash. I contacted Amex and asked them how much I could charge to my card and they told me a one off £300. I was stranded for about a week and ran up several thousands of pounds that I can't get back from Amex. The people in Amex accounts dept were very rude to me when I asked could I have my spending limit increased to cover my costs whilst I was out of the country. Apparently… Read Full Review

I would definitely not recommend AMEX Blue. I had that card for 3 years at a 9% APR. I have never missed a payment with AMEX, or with any of my credit card bills, or other loans. AMEX kindly repaid my good credit and responsible living by almost doubling my interest rate. It went from 9% to 17.8%. I wasn't allowed to close my card or opt out either. The rate applied to PAST purchases. Buyer beware...I don't want this to happen to anyone else… Read Full Review

Basically, American Express pays me to use their credit card. As long as you pay your credit off each month, you will earn money for spending money. My wife had her i-phone stolen, and Apple would not do anything about it. We bought the phone with our AmEx blue and the Apple people informed us that since it was purchased with the AmEx blue less then 90 days ago, AmEx gave us the money back. AMAZING CARD!!!… Read Full Review

Always on my side (and at my side). At any transaction it is the first card I use. The only drawback is that some places don't take it (ever more rare now though).
Ten years and customer service has been excellent -- they caught fraud on wife's account before we even knew about it, and fought a merchant who ripped me off with a shoddy product.
On one occasion when my a missed statement meant I missed a payment, they reversed all fees.
Unhesitatingly the best credit card I've had in 20… Read Full Review

I have a Amex card from Virgin, but when a payment was made to the card it went to Amex blue's bank account with Lloyds TSB! Amex have after more than 2 months not rejected the payment after loads of phone calls to them. They even refuse to talk to my bank to try and resolve the matter! Me as a Amex customer, have not been able to speak with them either! Why can they not provide better customer service? Or let us talk to a human being to try and resolve matters?? American express had me for a loyal customer since 1993 ,
many times they came through for me. But I in turn always
said good things about them. All these years I used Amex
for my business, sometimes I had choices, could have went
with Visa, but I am very loyal. My Eyes where set on there
rewards program. My points grew to over 400,000 ..
WOW! I could do so much with them. Than my state audit me,
I owed them sales tax increase. They put a lien on my credit.

Got online to American Express and found out that my card had been cancelled as of a few weeks ago No notification, no letter, nothing. This is after being a customer for over 25 years. This is coupled first with a lowering of credit limit by $5,000 without notification as well, about three months b before the cancellation.
This is a disgraceful way of doing business and treating customers. Amex will never get my business (or that of my rather large family and circle of friends) again… Read Full Review
