“Grin factor out of this world”

Written on: 02/07/2013 by Gaz007 (2 reviews written)

I have a 1991 Suzuki Gti 1300, fitted Cultus 11.5:1 pistons, Cultus intake manifold and tuned headers imported from Australia. Currently around 140 hp but still have great economy. Full power from 800revs to 8000 revs with no hesitation and push you back in the seat acceleration. In the wet under aceleration can loose traction up to 70kph in second gear (running 185/60 x 14 tyres). In the dry the grin factor is huge as you blow off bigger cars at the lights with ease, bring on the Honda V-tecs… Read Full Review

“I've had mine for 4 years now and its awesome”

Written on: 27/02/2013

I bought it 4 years ago as my first car, it was in good shape I paid a bit more than what they usually cost...and man you had to see the faces of the 106 and 205 gti owners, it just destroys them, you can take the little 1300cc engine up to 8000rpm, it loves to rev… Read Full Review

“MK1 owner . . .”

Written on: 19/06/2012 by Wheelnut78 (1 review written)

Got my hands on a VGC MK1 GTi - 1987 model. Found out they are quite rare which is a bonus and have not seen another on the road since buying, unlike my common as muk WRX. Mine has straight through exhaust and sports suspension and Enkei Mags. The car is a great cheap ride, practicle, reliable and great on fuel. Engine and handling are fun but its let down by average brakes, heavy steering and is upset by bumps while conering. If u are considering buying one make sure u get a good one as… Read Full Review

Such great little cars so quick for a 1.3. Cheap to run never let me down 148k and still going strong. Still looks fantastic today. Parts can be expensive modding or just repairing keep them well undersealed. Thin metal used in building them keeps weight down but I found they can rot badly. Suzuki Swift 16v GTi is a great car all round had mine 9 years now and would never sell it… Read Full Review

“I have owned my 91 Swift GTI for just under a week now...”

Written on: 17/09/2007 by CraigSpella (1 review written)

I have owned my 91 Swift GTI for just under a week now and love it! The only thing is I haven't had a chance to drive it hard yet as literally 3 hours after receiving the car the radiator burst. I fitted a new rad but the engine still tends to overheat and me 'check engine' light comes on from time to time. Could this be due to the fact that the engine was not used for 6 months? Plus the engine idles strangely, it goes up and down between 1500 and 2000 rpm. Can anyone help me and explain what I… Read Full Review

Written on: 08/12/2006 by Rolo786 (1 review written)

I bought the car just over a year ago, its white... and it's currently in the garage getting fully restored... I have ordered a new shell for the car from Japan so the car will be totally rust free and in mint condition. The swift I have will not be totally done up - it has the standard kit on it and will be transferred to the new shell and this swift will only have a few modifications done to it - firstly a K&N induction Kit will be fitted, then the back three windows will be made Midnight… Read Full Review

Written on: 08/08/2004 by david phil (1 review written)

I have had many cars over the years and my modified 115 bhp Suzuki Swift 16v GTi car was the quickest, flickyest fun car I've had until the car I've got now. And even when the cam belt broke it took only 3 1/2 hours to put a new belt on and start it up and away I went. No problems with bent valves etc. Brilliant!! Oh, my new car is a import modified Impreza wrx SA. I would go out and get a SSGti any time to have for a fun car. Up to 124 mph hardly any car can beat it!… Read Full Review

Written on: 15/04/2004 by swiftgti (1 review written)

Having only just bought my first SSGTi I was stunned at its performance, it handles like a go-kart and has decent fuel efficiency. The best part of owning the car is the look on owners of Nova GTE's, Golf GTi's, Metro GTi's and cavalier SRi's faces as you tear by them (apart from the metro, tight race but the swift pulls better upto 100mph) Altogether a truly remarkable little car… Read Full Review

Written on: 11/03/2004 by Miltos Patronis (1 review written)

The Suzuki Swift 16v GTi is a trully great car. I am from Greece and I own a slightly modified 1990 Swift GTI. It now has firm KONI-Eibach suspension, a free flow stainless exhaust and a racing air filter. After these mods the car is seriously fast -faster than any 106 GTI/Rallye or Saxo VTS in a straight line and in winding roads. In 'Limanakia',a well known area in Greece is one of the fastest cars around...and it sounds great too!… Read Full Review
