“Double up scheme is rubbish”

Written on: 09/06/2013 by jacko1953

We spend a few Thousands every year at Tesco on food and petrol. I waited and waited to get a personal DVD player and went to sandhurst store friday eveing to purchase food shopping and enquire about player through double up scheme only to be told that this item was not included in this promotion. This scheme seems to be a bit of a one sided, so the customer spend loads of cash with Tesco and then they shove two fingers up in the air back. Oh well we will now spend our shopping money at Asda... (read more)

“Will not bother to "double up" again.”

Written on: 31/05/2013

Finally managed to double up my Clubcard coupons and found I could only use one £10.00 token. When I phoned - three calls to find the right number-was promised a Tesco gift card for £10.00 which still hasn't arrived. Thought I would try again and the item I was after, despite being "in stock" was now out of stock! I decided to order two trees from Thompson & Morgan-again "in stock", but when I got to checkout were then "out of stock"! In future will use my coupons against my grocery order.... (read more)

trying to redeem a fair number of points that have accumulated, gone are the days of a practically free weeks holiday.,waste of time , late deals and online discounts more than cover the miniscule amount now allowed with the Tesco loyalty points. “ABSOLUTE RIP OFF!!!”

Written on: 08/05/2013 by Hassall42

Having used my vouchers for the last 4/5 yrs to stay in one of the Britannia Hotels in Blackpool i find that this year Tesco's own rates that they put in themselves are disgusting for a 3 night stay midweek booking.com quote £175.00 the hotel direct or online ask for £195.00 but will match booking.com's price. Tesco's own rate is £225.00. I have £30.00 worth of vouchers x 3 = £90.00. As if its not bad enough you used to get x 4 voucher value plus double points in store (thats now... (read more)

I have created a group on Facebook so we can all joint together to fight this giant who steps on us. I've tried complaining about their 'reward' to no avail. They just think they can do what they want. My expected £60 worth of vouchers (£180 via rewards) turned out to be worth £56 - not even face value. “Ferry Booking Rip Off”

Written on: 15/03/2013

I travel a lot between England and Ireland to visit family and saved up mu vouchers to get 4 times the value towards my ferry booking. However, the ferry companies (Stena and Irish Ferries), have a different pricing scheme for clubcard deals to that which they have for regular online bookings. So whilst honoring the £40 off for every £10 of vouchers exchanged the discount is off a far higher price. In my case the clubcard prices were 30% higher than the regular prices. I took the... “Tesco Clubcard Reward Rip-off”

Written on: 08/03/2013 by Gwarchotgi (1 review written)

You need to be very wary about using Tesco Clubcard reward vouchers. We had £30 of vouchers that we thought would reduce the cost of the Stena ferry on a visit to Ireland. What we didn't realise is that using the vouchers would result in various surcharges being applied. This put the price up by £50 – some "reward" for loyalty!! So we ripped up the vouchers and bought standard tickets ... and saved ourselves £20. (read more)

“Don't exchange Clubcard points for Park Resorts vouchers!”

Written on: 14/02/2013

I consider myself to be pretty on the ball with money saving schemes etc but I've come unstuck with this one! I exchanged £12.50 in Clubcard vouchers for £50 in Park Resorts vouchers in February 2013. I read the t & c beforehand and thought it looked ok. What I didn't do was check the price of the break on Park Resorts website (big mistake!) “Excellent Scheme upto 4 x value in some circumstances”

Written on: 02/12/2012 by Mum26boys (1 review written)

I love receiving my Tesco clubcard vouchers and working out how to get the most out of them. We had a lovely meal out at Ask recently where £10 in clubcard vouchers gave us £40 to spend on food in the restaurant. There are plenty of ways to make them go further too from Days out to gift purchases and Magazine subscriptions. Sometimes there are short term special offers, where the voucher goes further... last year we got a Thorpe Park ticket for £10 in clubcard vouchers. The clubcard... (read more)

He he he!! Somebody doesn't know how to make the most use of those vouchers!
I think it's a great scheme for people with brains!.
We've got Armani's watches, which would cost us over £800, for £30, also baby stuff, including a really decent quality cot-completely for free. Now we are going to use some vouchers with cottages4you and have a week in Italy for £500 including the flights and a hire car for a family of 3. So, as you can see a little bit of thinking doesn't hurt!

Although not the simplest this is definitely the most rewarding card giving you a huge amount of choice as to how to use your vouchers from spa days to magazine subscriptions to restaurants to airmiles to alton towers. Much better if you save your vouchers for a deal than spending in store. If you're doing the Clubcard voucher exchange, be VERY VERY careful what you order. I have just exchanged £45 of points for £90 in vouchers, only to find that I have made a mistake and ordered in-store vouchers for something that can only be bought online. I been a member of the Tesco scheme from the outset and I couldn't recommend it enough. It still amazes me that I see people in the shop who haven't got a club card when it's basically free money! I've used mine for discounts, vouchers, cinema tickets and to get some amazing days out for my family. I ordered my Tesco tokens and then went on to book the hotel, I was told that because I was using Tesco vouchers it would actually cost £339 for the two nights, I only had £120 worth of tokens and I would then have to pay £229 by debit/credit card. Rogie's Response to Caroline0263's Review

Written on: 19/12/2012

Absolutely totally agree - on the front of it seems like a great deal as everyone now buys their hotel rooms on the web and we researched our rates on the web before exchanging vouchers. We were told that this rate on the web was an offer and our vouchers could not in conjunction with another offer. W T F, that is your prices, who books their rooms any other way??

Now you also dont need a maths degree to work out that with the above figures you end up spending more money topping up the vouchers than if you book direct online or through laterooms.com. We have now lost £80 in tesco clubcard vouchers which would have bought a fortnights shopping!!

Also without meaning to sound arrogant, this isnt going to wreck my financial situation but for someone who plans this as a weekend away I want them to see this review and spend their well earned money on something else rather than waste their clubcard vouchers which could but a family their weeks shopping.

I havent checked to see if Tesco would refund these vouchers back to normal ones I can spend in store but I would imagine that they probably wouldnt!!!

Find another deal that you research throughly or just use them to buy your shopping.

Whilst I like the idea that I can save up vouchers for a weekend break, I find the whole experience frustrating. You have to ask for the tokens before you know if you can get any accommodation. If that is then not possible, then wait 3 months for them to be credited back to your account. I had a very similar problem. I asked three months ago for my vouchers and they said that I would get them all in August statement. August came, still no vouchers contacted clubcard and the first few people I spoke to were nice but didnt seem to be able to rectify my problem. After having to phone them 5 times I spoke to a man who was very rude and said it was a technical fault and that I will now have to wait until November to get my vouchers because the system wont let me have them until then despite being promised them in August. I decided to save my vouchers for something that I needed this month which I cant get now and on top of that because I dared to complain the man from clubcard told me that clubcard is discretionary and can be terminated at any point without reason if they see necessary (he was threatening me because I complained about it). They do not like you to spend a bulk load of vouchers in one go and they make it as difficult for you to do that as possible. Its a rubbish scheme and like you I shall be sticking with my nectar card too.

I have previously only used my vouchers for groceries in store. This year I was persuaded by a friend to change them up for 4 times their value in deals.
