“long time customer, disgusted, never buying from here...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by AlistairNeil on 26/04/2021

Change of management recently ? What else could it be.... OCuk had a great reputation but it's slowly doing down the toilet. Ordered an "in stock" item on the 7th, chased up by email, chased by onsite ticket system. Phoned them, finaly a responce. I was told they might send out my "in stock" order at some point in the next 12 to 14 days, due to covid. Give me a break, my company is also doing business while dealing with covid, we dont treat out customers like this. Utterly hopeless. Will never buy from OCuk ever again, this final straw was the last one.

“Good products but rubbish customer service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MS-review on 13/10/2014

Looks like i should have read some of the online reviews before placing my order with Overclockers.co.uk, but you live and learn. Nice website, good product range, reasonably well priced and seem to know what they're talking about but then you order and it all goes downhill. Seemed to unable to put two products in one box resulting one part being RMA'ed before it even left the warehouse. The 2nd part also didn't leave the warehouse as the courier number they gave me never got picked up, presumably because it was never ready to ship. After 4 phone calls saying they were about to fix it had to ask for a refund. Use the website for ideas but do yourself a favour and buy elsewhere.

“Absolute Shambles”

written by Ignaciop270 on 25/09/2014

I am writing as I have been mucked around with since the 9th Sept, I ordered a complete rig, monitor and mouse etc. I have called countless times chasing up times that change multiple times in a single day. Told it would originally arrive last thursday, then told friday, then saturday, and then told it would be dispatched today, safe to say on your website it shows still in warehouse queue. I have honestly had nothing but complete headache, believing a big company like OC would be very professional, I am honestly so sick of the constant lies being passed off, I think I will cancel the lot and go to Scan or someone else, take my chances there. Doubt anyone on here now, but if someone is reading this, get your self some real customer service as treating customers like dirt simply wont pass.

“A terrible company to deal with”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Reese166 on 07/08/2014

I brought some computer Components from them. A few days later, I needed some technical advice. I rang up the technical department to get some technical advice and the person pick up the phone ,but just when I explain my problem he put down the phone. I thought nothing off it. so I rang again . I told him my problem . he was rude and did not offer any technical advice .then he put down the phone. It is A terrible company to deal with if you need technical advice for the products that a person buy from them I shall not be buying any more from them. Do yourself a favor and shop somewhere else. If I could them them a no star , I would. The rating system is I got to give overclockers uk one star for really terrible services.

My question is - why is it the responsibility of OC to answer your technical questions and not the manufacturer direct?

That's like asking ASDA / Wallmart for advice on setting up your Samsung TV, it's much better to ask Samsung as they built it!

Do not worry this is the way they want to keep a customer!!!!!????? If you go to buy something from them think twice if you will not waste you time and only get back a stress instead of your product. Tks everyone

“Great systems, awful service.”

written by simon900123 on 13/09/2013

I recently bought a £1600 system from Overclockers (not my first from them) and I have to say the experience completely put me off ever buying from them again. Firstly they sent the wrong PC - not a great start. They then proceeded to be completely unhelpful when resolving this and went as far as to blame me for the delays as I did not send back the original OUTER (no relevance to PC) brown cardboard box. The staff were openly rude over e-mails, not apologetic and never followed up on promises. However, I must finish with this, the system now that I finally have it is fantastic. I can't fault that. Although, it did arrive with a cracked window on the side - but to be honest after the whole ordeal I decided to live with it rather than engage with their customer service again.

“Dishonest and very bad overall”

★☆☆☆☆

written by patrickplee on 28/08/2013

Long story short, Overclockers UK are not very good at stock management, poor at communicating problems, and goes against all trading standards and law. In the end I returned everything back to Overclockers. I had total of 6 visits by the courier; that is 3 deliveries, and 3 returns. This equates to a week of my time wasted. I advise that you avoid Overclockers if possible and look elsewhere e.g. ebuyer.com or dabs.co.uk etc. If only if I were compensated for the time wasted I would be giving this a nicer review. Unfortunately there isn't an option to give Overclockers UK rating of ZERO stars. The long story: I ordered everything on the 5th August 2013 to be delivered on 21st August 2013. Unfortunately you can not choose beyond two weeks (14 days) for planned delivery; and meant that by ordering 2 days later, prices of the items I wanted to buy shot up by £200. So I decided to drop those items that are no longer on sale. At the time all the items I ordered were in stock except for the graphics card which was a pre-order. Surely 2 weeks is plenty of time to get everything in stock. On the 21st August I received just one item out of the seven showed up. After discussing with the customer service team, the only thing that was holding the rest of the order was the memory card. So I decided to change that to hope that to receive everything the next day. On the Thursday 22nd August, I receive 5 more items: (1)CPU, (2)CPU cooler, (3)Motherboard, (4)hard drive and (5)PC case. I didn't even receive the power supply as it was out stock all of a sudden. I was then informed that the power supply was to be delivered the next day. After inspecting of the items I received, everything except for the power supply were already opened and tampered with. The CPU and the hard drive were not in its original packaging. This was unacceptable, and very dishonest the last straw and decided to return everything. I was given a return (RMA) number to return selected items, however it stated in the email that only the selected items should be returned otherwise extra charges will be made. So that meant I had to leave out the graphics card. On Friday 23rd August, I managed to return the 5 items (except for the graphics card) and refuse to accept the delivery of the power supply. On Tuesday 27th August, I was placed on hold on the phone for approximately 30 minutes, only to inform Overclockers that I still have their graphics card I want to return it. And also reminded them that I am not accepting the power supply which would be delivered that day. And so they arranged a courier for the next day to pick up the graphics card. On Wednesday 28th August (today), I get a message that I am expecting another delivery!!! After returning the graphics card, I refused to accept the delivery of the power supply. Hopefully that is the last time I will hear from them. I apologise for the long story, but I feel that this should shared (and on other review websites) to ensure that everyone should avoid them. Sure the courier is great, but Overclockers UK are misleading and very dishonest as a business company; and they will take every opportunity to give you used items rather than brand new items of which you expected to receive. Good luck to your future computer shopping!

Dear Mr Lee,

We have managed to track down your order through our system so I have your details.

Looking at the order I can apologise that it did not meet your expectations at this time. The delay of the order was due to an out of stock issue which you were emailed informing you of this, again my apologies if this caused any problems.

When you received the order I am very sorry to hear it looked like they had been tampered with, however looking at the unique ID of each product they have never once been out of our stock or used before. The only items which may have looked not new would be the Hard Drive and the Processor, this is becuase the are OEM and dont come with retail packaging.

In regards to the RMA process of returning the items there are no charges on unwanted or returned items within our 14 day satisfaction gaurantee, this is stated within the returns email which is sent out.

In the review you stated you were on hold for over 30 minutes on the phone line, I have just checked on the phone stats viewer and the maximum hold time on Tuesday 27th August was 2 minutes 47 seconds so I am a little unsure about a 30 minute wait.

We provided a full refund of the order for you within the 14 day returns period as you requested and which we are legally bound to do.

Overall I am very saddened to hear this review but all of our team were here to help at each step of the way and we have provided you a complete refund of the order in compliance to the 7 days DSR and 14 day return policy.

If you do wish to purchase from us again please contact me directly and I will be able to help

Best Regards

James Bailey

Written on: 10/09/2013

Thank you for taking the time to track down my information and to reply to me. Apologies if this review was harsh, however the reality was that the stock issue and communication of these stock issues by both email and telephone was very poor. Having ordered everything in 14 days advance, when the website claims at the time that all items (but the graphics card as this was a pre-ordered item) were "10+ and in stock" I expected this to be put to one side and delivered in one go on the 21st August.

I did receive emails with regards to the stock problem a week after ordering, but these emails were not clear and did not indicate what was the problem. After receiving the first delivery of just the graphics card, I discussed the problem with your colleague (from sales) to establish what had happened to the rest of the order. He did conclude that there was a supply problem with patriot mamba memory. Due to the time for these to be in stock, it was decided that we would swap the memory for the corsair memory (that were in stock at the time) to ensure that the rest of the items would be delivered. I was also told that because of the CPU and cooler was a bundle, that this will be installed with the motherboard for me hence the delay. Anticipating that the rest of the order will follow through the next day, another item (PSU) was not supplied due to ANOTHER stock problem with no email or verbal communications made. Due to the multiple deliveries and the fact I took annual leave to receive these (and to return these), meant that I had a total of 4 days of which could have saved for my trip to Australia where I intend to spend Christmas with my family. This was not acceptable at all; and will stand by my bad review of Overclockers.

As for the waiting time on the phone for returns, I may have exaggerated the waiting time of 30 minutes, however you did not mention in your reply about the phone-system issues you were experiencing, which was raised by your sales team (and advised to try again 10 minutes later; approximately 11:00am on Tue 27 August). And the total wait time did accumulate to approximately 17 minutes before spending 6 minutes 29 seconds on the phone at 11:40am.

And yes you are correct that the way the hard drive and processor were packaged are OEMs. I can accept that the way the hard drive was packaged as it was an OEM. However for the CPU "OEM" was not stated in the bundle (stock code: BU-019-CS) on your website meaning that what you were selling was indeed very misleading. Had I had known I would have purchased the retail version. There was also very strong evidence that the NZXT case had already be used.

It also appears that the return of the PSU is still pending with the DPD despite explaining to them that I will not accept it; and rather return it to Overclockers.

This whole experience was indeed unacceptable and so everything was (and will be) returned. You be happy to know that I will consider to shop with Overclockers in the future, but not from your website.

“Damaged goods and poor returns process”

★☆☆☆☆

written by andrewspm on 28/06/2013

Bought a PC case from this company recently. Although they were not the cheapest company I thought they had a good reputation. The outer packaging was fine but the case was bent/distorted when it arrived and so it didnt sit level on the desk and I couldn't fit the PSU because of the distorted shape of the case, so on the very same day I tried to contact them. The 'web form' that they make you use for returns is very poor and you have to manually enter the order number and other details. I explained the problem and said I'd like to return for a refund. They responded saying that I had to upload pictures of it to an image hosting web site. There was no way to respond to the message, I had to complete their stupid web form all over again instead. I'm now waiting to see what there response is. I've never had any company make returning goods that are damaged on arrival so difficult.

Well some good news here; James called me and arranged for the damaged items to be collected free of charge and a refund issued, whereas initially I would have had to return at my own cost. This is the sort of service I would expect, and if Overclockers could have made it easier in the first instance, I would have been very satisfied.

Dealing with James has restored my confidence in Overclockers and I will consider using them again in future.

Ordered RAM which turned out to be faulty - just one of those things. Rang up OC to arrange RMA and found them almost impossible to get hold of and lacking in even the very basics of customer service. After further complications (OC claimed to have not received my RMA - thankfully I had proof of postage) I eventually received 'new' RAM which turned out to be faulty. This is no surprise as they were THE SAME RAM MODULES I SENT BACK (I know because I marked them). Please be warned - you'll be very sorry if you spend your money here and something goes wrong.

They received the board & contacted me several days later saying they have refunded me a partial refund & with no reason explaining if it were my fault or a faulty board. Then I get an email asking to phone a 0871 number as the card details on their site are not up to date, but I have told them that I paid through paypal so what is the problem & that my partial refund was paid back into paypal so why cant they do it know? Bought my son a graphics card with six free games but only five arrived. Chased them but got told to get lost as they did not have any stock of the missing game but six weeks later are still advertising it !!!! I asked for a small refund (£8) to source the game myself but got nowhere. I could have bought the card cheaper elsewhere but the six free games enticed me. Basically just deliberately misleading people then giving zero service. AVOID there are much better places.

I have spoken to 3 or 4 different people at OC about this, their attitude was all the same "tough luck we're out of stock".

You should have told me you were out of stock before you took and kept my money. You should either honour my contract (ie supply the game) or offer an £8 refund so I can buy it elsewhere.

At the same time you should take down the misleading advert of 6 free games because you ran out of stock several weeks ago. What you are doing is illegal, stop it and improve your customer service.

OC152875. I have emailed at length 3 of your team, their attitude seemed to be we ran out of stock, tough luck.
You should have either advised me prior to taking payment that you were out of stock of the bundled game, reduced the price or sent me the game when it came back into stock. On Christmas morning I was searching in the box for the missing code.

I fully expect that retailers will have problems and mistakes will be made. It is how you recover from those problems and deal with issues that differentiates c rap suppliers from great ones. If I ever have issues with Amazon they bend over backwards to put things right. they don't say "tough luck we've ripped you off".

A good start would be to change your current advert to say 5 free games not 6 if you only have 5 to send. Saying 6 is false advertising.

Very rude, arrogant and defensive when it goes wrong for them. Without a motherboard for 2 months now. They lost it to ASUS. Offered partial refund on 5 year garantee. Come on. Still nothing. I have a small claims against them that's how bad it gets with OcUK. Disgusting.

Dear Sir,

I am sorry to hear of the problems with the RMA process, the motherboard you sent back to us was indeed faulty so we sent it back to the manufacturer to be repaired / replaced for you. However as this was an end of life product (not longer produced) this wasnt possible so we tried our best to accomdate your needs. We offered you a brand new alternative replacement board to get you up and running again or a refund so you could go for something different. My colleages got in touch with you at each stage of the RMA process to let you know what your options were and you opted for the refund rather than a brand new replacement.

I am sorry if this has caused any problems so as a gesture of good will I can send out some free games for you if you wish.

Please let me know.

I completely agree, it seems like they are all well and good when things go well but when things go bad, they are extremely rude over the phone, and very sluggish. I'm paying TWO THOUSAND pounds for a laptop from them, and they sent me a faulty one, the first time i phoned about it, i did not even get an apology, and the person at the phone did not even process the call so the company who was supposed to pick up the broken one never came, delaying my replacement even further. It is still in processing now and if i don't get some kind of compensation for the trouble i will be absolutely livid.

Ordered something and got delivery date given. Then get an email the day it is due to arrive saying, due to a warehouse error, it is not available and I can either order something else or wait an unknown length of time. No refund offered. I then email saying I am unhappy and I want a refund. I get an email back telling me it is my fault for ordering something that was out of stock. Um, it wasn't when I ordered and paid for it! I can't believe a company would be so rude. I won't be using such a terrible company again.

“poor customer service”

Competitive components come at a price. If you have a component with a fault as I did don't expect a great deal of assistance. After many attempts to contact overclockers I returned my faulty RAM which overclockers. I was assured that once tested I would be offered a replacement or an immediate refund. Instead the RAM was sent to the manufacturer in Germany. I chased up the item and after two months was told that the item had failed its test 6 weeks earlier. Overclockers made no attempt to contact me regarding the matter and repeatedly rejected or refused to assist me with the matter using their web forms. When I phone their £1 per minute hot line they refused to transfer my call to the appropriate department. Be warned.

Hello jones80, I apologise for the delays and inconveniences caused on your order.

Unfortunately it seems like you ordered on the time of when we moved our entire business to a new premises which caused some hiccups on your order.

If you would like to try us again, please quote your last order number with the issues you have had and we will give you free shipping and can see if we can also offer you discount on the products too. :)

“Terrible support”

Took them 3 weeks to replace a PSU. After a total of 13 webnote messages and 3 delivery attempts I finally got a replacement. I've ordered many computer components online, and occasionally I need to RMA them. OCUK has been responsible for the worst RMA experience I have ever had. In part due to the webnote system being totally inadequate for customer support, you can't reply to messages but instead have to create a new webnote every time. Typically takes them 24 hours to reply to each note. Laughable. I have friends who have similar experiences dealing with their support. Stay away from B-grade items at all costs, if it comes missing accessories they will not replace them. I bought a B-Grade monitor that was missing cables and 3d glasses, ended up costing me much more than I saved buying B-grade to replace them. Buy from Scan/Ebuyer/Microdirect. Prices are the same, dispatch is faster and the support is immeasurably better.

Hi there,

Do you have an RMA number or order number so I can look into this for you? I can assure you we as a company dont operate like this so if you could get back to me so I can investigate that would be great.
