These are one of those other phones that you need for business work and to talk on the phone. This is a stepdown from the Treo Palmone. But, less expensive. This is for the people who want to pay less for less. (read more)

This is a review for a Blackberry 7230 on Vodafone for business use. The previous two opinions were about personal use, but Blackberry was designed actually for business use, due to its excellent integration with the corporate mail systems (such as Microsoft Exchange).
The Blackberry is in our company for about 4 months now, after 2 months of trial. I was responsible of setting the Blackberry infrastructure on our network.
I will start the review by telling you few things about the...

If you just want emails on the move, the Blackberry 7230 works perfectly. If you want a PDA with all the bells and whistles and a little pretend pen that you tap away and sometimes get email - buy something else!
Go for a managed account (Vodafone) and not a redirector. After getting to know all the settings, mine does exactly what it's supposed to. When I'm on site I get all of my emails, attachments, WAP and SMS messages without the need for a laptop or phone line. It syncronises with...

Blackberry is great. It really is. If you are a business user especially I can't imagine that you would not benefit from using it. I always felt that someone had to design something like the Blackberry one day and when they did it would be a winner. Eventually they did!
Now I have to say it is quite funny seeing all the suits in the airport lounges and hotel lobbys around the world trying to receive e mails on clunky laptops or hotel PC's. I am the smug guy in the corner with a coffee...

I have had my Blackberry 7230 for sometime and over the first few weeks loved it - well almost. I found the dim screen, even with the back light on, it was disappointing.
Then my Blackberry stopped working - I could send but not receive. It took Vodafone two weeks to tell me that my web server mail box was full and I needed to empty it! If only they had told me! Plus there website is very poor on help and guidance.
Vodafone aside I do like the Blackberry. It offers a relatively simple...

I have constant problems with the Blackberry 7230 when using desktop re-director. Cannot pick up emails half the time, and there is no chance of you picking up emails when abroad - it just seems to lose connection. Absolutely nothing to do with tariffs or reception. (read more)

Really surprised to read this users problems. I was surprised when I first took my blackberry abroad at how easy it was to use. As soon as I stepped of the plane in Bangkok it was chirping away as new e mails were downloaded. It was great to be able to sit by the pool whilst reading e mails and answering them instantly. My wife hated it, however!

The Blackberry 7230 blends the best of both data and voice functionality. Suprisingly good sound quality, solidly built with great battery life. User controls are intuitive, slick and easy to master. The form factor as a mobile phone remains problematic for regular usage and the backlighting is its weakest point. Very small text fonts makes it challenging to read if your vision isn't perfect. Lacks Apple connectivity and would greatly benefit from Bluetooth (read more)

On the subject of small text, if you go into the options and click on screen/keyboard function you can change your font size and family very easily.

If you are using desktop redirector and your PC is switched off it will not forward your email, your PC in this implementation is your email server, hence it is better to use either a corporate version of the BlackBerry Exchange Server or the BlackBerry Web client version which will redirect your ISP based email to your BlackBerry 24/7.

<br>Plus when you are abroad you need to select that you are recieving messages as GPRS network charges vary widely and this can be default option to save you running up huge bills.
