The operators in the lloyds tsb phonebank are frequently very polite, but the systems, especially the credit card systems, are 'down' an extraordinary proportion of the time.

No matter how polite people are, the service is terrible if they can never access your details, let alone amend them of make a transfer.

First class service from Lloyds TSB phone banking. I had been held up on the motorway and needed to make an urgent transaction and stop a direct debit (part of a new arrangement), however, the branches were about to close. The telephone banking system was terrific and the operator had not just a polite and reassuring attitude but made me feel that 'HE' would sort everything out come what may - and he did. All this at 4.50pm on a Friday eveningwhen I would have thought they would be very busy.

Shunted from one operative to another, having to repeat query each time. Tiresome if query is a complex one, and resulting in considerable time being spent just getting to the point. Eventually told I would have to contact my branch (35 miles from my home) but there is no way of calling them!
Security systems seem to be designed to protect the bank, not to assist the customer - Despite answering very intimate account questions correctly, I was told I had failed the security system (because I cou ...

I am finding it more and more difficult to get through to the actual transaction stage. It is not unusual (even at 6:30 p.m. on a Sunday evening) to be told that the lines are very busy and I may have to wait up to 5 minutes to speak to an operative. On one occasion I was cut off several times during the process and it took over an hour to get to speak to someone. This service is becoming so difficult to use I am contemplating switching banks because of it.

If Lloyds TSB want to chase up payments you get a series of auto calls to your contact phone number. Anyone picking up the phone hears your name, the fact that you have an account with Lloyds TSB bank, and if you opt to speak to someone, they will tell anyone you have a credit card with them!!

What is worse, the call ties up your line and you can't hang up until it's over. They claim they are allowed to make up to six such calls each day.

Essentially the Lloyds TSB telephone banking service is an automated service with call centre operatives intervening as a last resort. There is a secondary phone line that isn't automated, but it's an 0845 (so it isn't free), and there can be waiting. But, all in all, not a bad service; just not a great one.
