Good Points: You can whisper immediately to someone you like. You can block someone straight away who is abusive, quite a few.

Bad Points: Useless pointless whispering for men who are just looking to muck about. Too expensive

General comments: Udate.com should have a weeks trial, even costing a tenner, as they lure you with cheaper rates for long term membership when after a week, you realise what a rubbish site it is.

Udate is expensive at 24.99 per month, and has rapidly declined compared to what it was 2 or even 3 years ago in my opinion.

I take back my earlier profile and would not join udate again!

I think its an OK site, I am trying it again at the moment having rejoined but - its not as good as it used to be 2 or 3 years ago so unless I want just a fling I dont expect udate to change my life but it is good for meeting new people and making friends.

I would not recommend this site at all. Altogether I had a very bad experience using their service, unlike Dating Direct or Guardian Soulmates...AVOID!

I was a member of this site in the late 90's and left when it started to change and was relaunched as uDate. I joined for a month in February 2006, and then for a month in April. My membership expires tomorrow and I won't be signing up again. If you are a real person who thinks they are paying to join a genuine dating site where you might meet the love of your life, don't hold your breath. I have had some diabolical experiences; fortunately not face to face. I have had to block a couple of me ...

Many of the recent "bad points" in previous reviews I have to agree with. I too felt the frustration at communicating with "ghosts" (people who have logged off, yet they still appear as logged on). I also was very disappointed in their matching engine (several of the matches were so opposite I wouldn't even have bought them a drink in a bar (ON A DARE!!). I can't believe they pride themselves on the system. It's useless!

I guess the biggest complaint I want to voice (and one that will help yo ...

I am very upset with the Udate web site as I initially joined up for the 3 free days offer to look around. I then joined up for what I thought was one month. Two days later I noticed they had me down for a six month membership. I wrote to complain/explain, but they flatly refuse to make a refund. I would therefore definitely NOT recommend the Udate site to anyone.

Udate used to be the best dating site but now appears to have grown too big for its own boots. It has become arrogant and does not consider the needs of its members, even to the point where it will completely ignore messages of complaint!

One other point I, and others have noticed over the years. Just after your membership has expired you will log on to find lots of new 'whispers' from potential matches, far more than you had been getting whilst a member. Unable to read these you rejoin, o ...

Udate charged my charge account twice on the same day. When this was corrected, Udate denied me access. Attempts to send requests for help to help@udate.com were all bounced.

Udate - I had a lot of fun for a 6 month period. Cancelling the rebilling feature involved quite a few calls to my bank to check the cancelling took place. I wrote hundreds of letters. Got a few back. Didn't make any new friends and never met anyone.
