Egg Banking are the most incompetent bank i have ever dealt with. I reclaimed PPI from them and they sent me a letter to say that it would be removed from my remaining balance. It has no emerged that they never did and I have overpaid them. I have spent the last THREE months trying to get them to rectify this situation. The call centre is atrocious. I spent 40 minutes on the phone one day trying to just speak to an actual person and I couldn't get through no matter what combination of… Read Full Review

If you are thinking of using them, then call their customer complaints line first, when you realize they are a joke then go and get a proper bank and be grateful you found out in time. As I write this I have been waiting for over an hour. They obviously want me to hang up again… Read Full Review

The previous owners of Egg have now sold out to Barclays. I had a suspicious transaction on my credit card, recently. I phoned Egg and asked them to raise a dispute and a chargeback. They cancelled the card and sent me a new one. The suspicious transaction was still on my online statement 2 weeks later. I phoned again. I waited in the phone queue and, 22 mins later, they answered. They said I'd have to print off their online form and post it back to them before they'd raise a dispute and… Read Full Review

Some three years ago Egg did not send a replacement card to cover one that was expiring. I cancelled the account and cleared all outstanding balances on the 'phone. Over the following three years I was sent repeated email notices about my account and invited to log in, which I could not do since I had no card. I contacted them repeatedly - always speaking to someone different who had no record of previous complaints and no capacity to act or to say anything outside the stock replies. I was… Read Full Review

Absolutely horrible, un friendly and not helpful customer services. Have had a credit card x 2 and have never been able to access online statements on line. Asked on several occasions for them to put this right and they still haven't. The team have also phoned me on old numbers which I have requested to be taken off the system several times. I would never ever deal with this company again, I wish I had read the reviews first!… Read Full Review

Set up an egg savings account and ISA about 3 years ago. The site is slow and ponderous. Their ISA rates became uncompetitive and it took weeks for the transfer to be correctly sorted out. In addition I notified them 6 months ago that their system wouldn't process payments from my bank's Mastercard debit card and it is still not fixed (even though they thought they had fixed it).
For an internet based bank to be unable to process payments from the world's major card provider (and fail to… Read Full Review

Absolutely useless. Have been customers for years (savings/credit cards/ISAs) but now moving everything.
You name it, it goes wrong and their Customer Services are as useful as a chocolate teapot.
Their version of a fast pay system is days - this includes moving money between different Egg accounts as "they are not a clearing bank".
Problems as others with security of credit cards - they cancelled mine because of some security breach and didn't replace it for weeks despite various phone… Read Full Review

I've tried to pay my utilities bills using the Egg online banking system and can't. The problem is that the utility company wants online payments made to an account which has an account number of 00000000 (eight zeros) and Egg won't let you use such an account number. Egg have admitted that lots of utility companies use an account with similar numbers and the problem is "not their fault". So, if you want to pay such bills from your account (check the back of your utility bill), don't use Egg!… Read Full Review

I have been with egg.com and have had an Egg.com credit card for around 5 years but I'm now moving. They seem to be having massive security problems according to their telephone support "they are loosing batches of credit card numbers"
I am on my 4th card in as many months because they keep having security breaches and have to keep re-issuing me a new card.
Egg.com then every month charge me a £16 penalty for late payment because they can't setup my DD properly.
The latest card they sent out a… Read Full Review

We have accounts with several instiututions but opened an Egg Money card at the end of November with 1% Cashback (yes, there is a monthly £1 fee). The first 'statement' was issued showing just the £1 fee. The Direct Debit payment facility was correctly set up. We received a phone call on 24 Dec 'please call Egg' .. I called.. nobody knew any reason why we had received a call. I then found that the Secure Message system was blocked as our account (stil with £4000 credit available) was with… Read Full Review

I have been an Egg customer for nine years. The bank was bought out by Citi Bank who changed all the agreements without consultation, imposed new guidelines that don't make sense, and took decision making power away from front line staff. Result: Credit limits dropped without notification, cards suspended, savings rate dropped to zero. Not just a bad service from a bank, but actually the worst service I've ever recieved from any company. Almost any other bank is a better option… Read Full Review

i have just opened an egg fixed rate savings account i find the service that they offer to be excellent, except for one thing when i set up the account they gave me a sort code for paying money in via the faster payments service, but when you want to withdraw your money you cannot do so via the faster payments system, so you can only get your money back either by bacs which can take up to 4 days or pay £25.00 to have it sent by chaps.
i think that in this 21st century certain banks want to get… Read Full Review
