Good Points: Phone help desk, benifits when work

Bad Points: unknoledgeable staff, not meeting promises, unhelpful, feeling dissapointed.

General comments: I have had a under 19's account with lloyds for several years, ut upgrading to a student account was nothing b tsbut trouble. I made an appointment, which i was left waiting for 15 minutes. The manager who i upgraded with didnt have a clue on the account, and i was telling her what was in it. I have not been offered a credit card or overdraft, as i should have as she said i could not have one until i was at uni? I am still waiting for the free gifts

Their brochure says that within 28 days of opening a student account your account will be credited with £25. In addition to that you will get another £50 by 31 July 2008 if you don't go overdrawn and pay in money at least 3 times by 30 June 2008. 2 months down the line, I approached the bank manager of my local branch to ask about the initial £25 as my account had not been credited with same. I was told that the £25 was part of the additional £50 and that becau ...

Really efficient bank, the account is simple and easy to use, which is what you need when you start university. If you don't go over your credit limit then you have little to worry about in the case of charges. However charges do occur when you go overdrawn etc, but only within the guidelines set by the bank (which is what happens with most banks) - unaccounted for charges have NEVER occurred with me.

Great bank, loyal and plays safe with your money.

Poor customer service and very difficult to get in touch with the manager who I opened the account with. I got nothing for opening the student account, it has been a year, and believe it or not, I'm still waiting for the benefits they promised to give for opening a student account with them, apart from the cards.
I phoned up many times just to check what went wrong, but nobody was able to help. I even went to the bigger branch in the city centre to see if they can help me out, but all they did w ...

I dropped out of university in March due to stress. I have used all of the £2000 overdraft and I have now been accepted at Nottingham Trent but they are saying I have to close the account and reopen it as they think i have graduated. But to do this I have to pay the account off. I'm now stuck and broke and best of all they have new policys on the student account only giving 1500 in 500 installments as the years tick over.

Also they charge through the nose if you go over your overdraft

I am disgusted both by the service provided by this bank, their lack of communication and their so called customer service.

This bank was terrible, their charges are extortionate, you cannot speak to your branch, its all call centres who give you abuse and cant be bothered to help you or just put the phone down, they keep charging you until your over your overdraft and then continue to charge you for no apparent reason. They also tend not to send bank statements which makes it hard to control your finances, overall this bank has made my first year a uni a complete nightmare!! DO NOT GET AN ACCOUNT WITH LLOYDS TSB!!!! ...

This review is for the 2007 - 2008 academic year.
I've had my current account since I was 14 but 2 years ago swapped my banking over to Nationwide, but left the account open knowing I was (Eventually) going to Uni. (Nationwide offer no student overdrafts etc...).

Swapping my account should have been easy and it was; sorting everything else was hard! The £1, 500 interest free overdraft is what I was interested in but they couldn't give me that as I had a bad 'Credit Report'. I expl ...

Before I went to university, I researched several student accounts, and it seemed Lloyds TSB was the best. I went to sign up for it, and I was told that I couldn't do it then, because my letter of acceptance was a photocopy. I was told I could do all the admin work now, and then come back later when I had less time to show the original. I said this was OK, and asked to start the admin. After much sighing and eye rolling, she eventually said she'd do it for me now (she'd offered anyway)! I went b ...

Absolutely awful customer service. I've been with this bank for 17 years, but clearly this counts for nothing. They sent me a cheque book with a cheque guarantee facility, so it's virtually useless. They didn't give me an overdraft, and I had to apply for one separately by calling them, which was extremely expensive. No credit card, and considering I pay over £10,000 into my Lloyds TSB account, and as a student to boot, I will most certainly be closing this account.

Having been with Lloyds TSB for over 15 years, I naturally went to them first to open a student account as a mature student. I was refused on the grounds that they considered me a credit risk. I have been at home raising kids for years as a single parent, and sometimes it's been financially tough. So because of a few late catalogue payments (no CCJ's) my credit history is damaged. Even though I have credit cards and a debit card. I will not be using them when I have my degree and a good salary!

I had banked with Lloyds for over 12 years, and recently graduated and transferred to a graduate account, which has an overdraft limit of £2,000, and I took out a graduate loan to buy a car and clear a credit card. My overdraft limit was put at £300 at my own request to stop me from going into debt again, this I thought was a sensible thing to do. I then started a masters degree and needed to stay in Scotland for two weeks for training, I needed my overdraft extending to about &pou ...

I had banked with Lloyds TSB for about 6-7 years and when I became a student I had no problems whatsoever of changing my cyrrent account to a student account. They only required my Ucas confirmation, or alternatively a letter from the University to open the account which was a simple and straight forward procedure.
During my first year, I ran into financial difficulty and the staff at Lloyds were only to happy to help. Although they do not deal with the student accounts in the branch itself- ...
