Good Points: Internet access - online statements etc.

General comments: Poor bank for students! The customer service I received throughout my time at university was poor! I remember asking to increase my overdraft facility and was spoken to like a child and asked a thousand and one questions on what I spend my money on - it was ridiculous! I could not believe how difficult it was to increase my overdraft! Save yourselves the stress! Because in times of need when I had rent to pay and other bills as a student Barclays were not there for me!

I found barclays to be rude on telephone, they were reluctant to give me an overdraft. You do get free internet banking with Barclays Student accounts but only a small overdraft and i found that when i went over my limit the fees i received were sky high.

Barclays internet banking is very good and easy to use and makes all my banking easy to access and simple to use.

The fees on the Barclays Student Account are ridiculously high. And although the customer service isn't too bad, the company itself is a big let down. It is a constant stress banking with them, and they have no understanding for students or self employed customers.

I've been with them since I was 11 years old, and I seem to have always had problems with them. In June this year, my card was swallowed by their ATM, and when I asked about it at the bank they basically said it was deliberately done, so I had to update my existing account to a student account. Why couldn't they just send out a letter?

The worst thing of all was that I was told by 2 different employees that I would get a £100 overdraft. When I was £17 and overdrawn, they sent ou ...

The Barclays Student Bank Account is not that impressive! You have to ring up to do pretty much everything. You can't just walk in and talk face to face about stuff. Plus, when trying to increase your overdraft you get an interrogation about your financial affairs.

I also have had an account with Barclays since I was young (ten). When asking for an increase in overdraft (from £200 to £500 in my third year of study) I was subjected to an interrogation about my spending and rather smugly told to spend my money on more important things! Therefore extra overdraft was denied. I am extreemly careful with my money and felt like a criminal asking for the overdraft. I am also now looking to change my bank.

I've had an account with Barclays since I was 13 but now I actually have to ask them for stuff at the end of my 2nd year, and take money out rather than always putting it in, I can't seem to get any help from them!! They have just changed their telephone system where you need a pass code for them to talk to you and as I had just moved house I couldn't find it so they asked me loads of questions (including card no, expiry date, mothers maiden name, my date of birth, my full name etc) which I answ ...
