“I hate the Honda Silverwing, it's uncomfortable as...”

I hate the Honda Silverwing, it's uncomfortable as hell to drive . if you are over 5 foot 10 inches tall there is NO ROOM for your legs . Every one has to spend a small fortune having the seat redone . The engines go bad at around 60K and man are they expensive to repair . One little bump and you've got at least $1,000 worth of damage to the plastics . The plastic body vibrates like crazy and drives you nuts . It sounds like your being attacked in your ear by a swarm of killer bees . I would rather have a Big Ruckus any day of the week . I've owned both and I'll never own another Silverwing , unless I can get one for maybe $1,000 and even then it would have to be in mint condition . Buy yourself a low mileage Honda Big Ruckus for around $3,800 and you will be MUCH happier .

I found this review not helpful because...What do you base the 60,000 mile engine life on. i have seen SilverWings with 90,000 to over 100,000 miles still running well. Talked to the owners about problems all had nothing more then change tires and brakes one had a clutch.

I found this review not helpful because it is missleasing & only one persons opinion. I have owned 2 Silverwing bikes the first one I retired at 104,000 miles circa 170,000kms; and only because it was uneconomical to replace the radiator on a high milage 9 years old bike (and I fancied a newer model).

Givi sell a tall replacement windscreen which is very good for me (I am 6' tall). Not sure about the leg room comment as I have never thought the bike was compromised in this area. The seat is, comfortable, & well engineered (I believe that the drivers back rest is adjusable however I have never been compelled to do so); at least it can be opened at the same time as having the top box open. The same can't be said of many other bikes.

The bike can vibrate a bit at low speed especially when cold but it is not noticably more than any other maxi scooter (Suzuki, Yamaha & Peugot) I have ridden over the years.

Mechanical repairs... I have never had to pay to change anything other than the tyres, brake pads, oil filter, oil, spark plugs and the drive belt (circa every 12-14,000 miles) and occasionally fuses & bulbs and once the battery after 4 years). In summary all consumable items.

In summary a good bike. If I had to criticise it would be the cost of buying new (but in this case you get what you pay for).

I am sorry I bought this bike, it was too much money for what I got. I had to learn a 9000 lesson. You can not ride this in the rain and not expect to wipe out sooner or later. I am a very experienced rider, My Silverwing slid out from under me while I was going about 10 mph. This has happened twice. Now I need expensive body work. Both times I was going slow in the rain. But the good side is I was not hurt either time.

It must depend on the type of tyre that was fitted. To be fair, even the best tyres are likely to suffer some sort of failure when cornering in the wet.
