This is simply the worst banking experience I've had and I have worked in the financial services industry for 17 years. The registration process has been massively changed and is now completely unworkable. It is simply frustrating and ultimately fruitless. My honest advice to anyone would be to use another bank - have nothing to do with Clydesdale Bank. “Dreadful registration process”

I just give up! All other banks have far simpler registration processes but this one is just a series of hurdles to set up internet banking. It costs a bomb to have to register for telephone banking first outweighing any interest you might eventually receive - press this; press that; press this and that again and again and then fail if you don't remember from weeks ago starting the process how much you were going to open the account with - then you have to go through some other process - FORGET… Read Full Review

Not impressed with this bank at all. Moving from New Zealand to the UK and basing myself in London they were pretty quick to set me up with an account ready for when I arrived. HOWEVER they only set me up with a maestro card. At the time I didn't think anything of it, until I began trying to book holidays and travel and had to pay for everything on my NZ credit card! “Totally unprofessional ”

I required to move a not unsubstantial amount of money from my credit card to my current account to cover a matter that needed dealt with sooner rather than later. Never having withdrawn such an amount before I checked with the credit card company who assured me it would be no problem. “Disregard customers time”

The Giffnock Branch only has 3 teller windows in total and frequently only one is in use with their constant staff shortage. When one customer commandeers the teller, for any reason, which often happens. The other customers are forced to stand in an ever increasing queue. This is a regular occurrence in Giffnock and suggests a total disregard for their customers. “The most awful, frustrating service I think I've ever had”

I have been banking with the Clydesdale for 30 years and have already closed my business account, and the only reason I haven't closed my account is I'm so busy as it's a moammoth job changing everything over. I dread calling them up for anything as their telephone manner is appalling 90% of the time. They must have training in 'how to frustarte customers'! “Bank Charges”

I was charged £35 in bank fees because i didnt have £3.50 in my account. I suffer ill health and can barely manage my banking but have banked with Clydesdale for many years. They just hammer on the fees.I couldnt believe they would not let me go overdrawn by £3.50 as i am not working for now. I dont like the bank and wouldnt recommend it to anyone unless you have plenty of funds in there accounts.I have been turned down for a small overdraft to stop this happening and yet they send me offers… Read Full Review

“Communications appalling”

We have banked with Clydesdale for many years. Over the past year we wished to extend our mortgage and have had to communicate with the bank more than usual. This has been the worst banking experience ever - we have now put our complaints to the ombudsman as nobody at the bank was able to deal with them. “Customer Care?”

this bank is the worst I have ever dealt with. They keep loosing documents, do not respond to email or phone calls as quickly as they should, and are completely and utterly unprofessional. They do not understand customer care and I must say, I find the whole experience of dealing with them incredibly frustrating. Absolutely terrible service, treated me extremely badly charges all over the place, £50 for just going overdrawn by 12 pence. Horrible customer services, the guy on the phone was very condescending and I had to get him to repeat things twice and he still was not clear on his answer to the question I was asking. While we can understand that their presence in England is a bit of a problem (one branch in all of England!), we found their customer service fairly good. We got an account from overseas (through NAB), when almost no one else would give us an account at all, and what's more, they did it for free, and fast. We had to call them from overseas twice (as the first woman in the call centre was just plain evil, the second was truly sweet)

I've been with CB for 35 years. They have lost the ability to respond to genuine customer concerns. The tellers just parrot the usual and the managers won't talk to you. Terrible communications. Clydesdale Bank tried selling me private banking services before they had even given me a mortage offer (and obviously before I have become a customer). This is actually breaking FSA regulations, as they actually cold-called me even though I am not yet an existing customer. Every time I ask someone to ring me back with information, I am left handing indefinately.
