“By far the worst bank in the world”

I have banked with hsbc for over 15 years. They used to be a great bank. About 5 years ago they went completely down hill. ALL of their customer service is in india now - you will spend over 2 hours on the phone with people who have no idea what you are talking about. The supervisors are just as inept as the operators. The online banking purposely shuts off your auto-payments without any notification & they could care less. They are solely responsible for wrecking my credit. No other bank is as… Read Full Review

“Declining Customer Service”

I have been with the HSBC for the past 8/9 years and have noticed a noticeable decline in their customer service and face to face contact. When the local branch was still in existence, we had several run-ins with the staff especially when it came to using the machines to transfer money from one of our accounts to another. “Happy to give your money away !!!”

Initially i was happy with the service i got from HSBC and the ease of use of on-line banking etc. It was only when i was in dispute with an insurance company about fees i apparently owed them HSBC just gave them the money AND that i needed to talk to the insurance company first. SERIOUSLY AVOID. If it wasn't for the fact that i have now set up my bank account as i would like it i would to someone more reputable. SHAME ON YOU HSBC FOR THE SHOCKING SERVICE YOU GIVE !!! “Faceless & Impersonal Behind A Blank Red & White Hexagon”

Was a customer for 20 years, I've lost all faith with this corporation. There's no empowerment for its staff to give empathy or understand a person's circumstances instead as a sign of its distrust in its branch staff, it relies purely on data it buys from other companies. Hi,

I work for HSBC and credit is given according to ones credit scoring standard practice in this country.

If we as a bank just handed out cash with no criteria we would get critised as being an un responsible lender.

Pretty sure part of reason this country is in so much trouble in the first place is because the banks like HSBC have been giving money out to people who clearly could never repay it.... so I'm not sure is that 100% the responsible part is accurate.

And in fairness Blairs... HSBC have been clearly helpful and considerate to people who want to save money via tax avoidance. ...

“5.5 years with them and they do not value youU”

I am with this bank from last 5.5 years. I had salary account, flexi saver, regular saver, current account and business account. I have a very good credit report also. But still when it came to mortgage, this bank did not approve my mortgage application. The manager was infact did not show the courtesy to send all the information in email. “HSBC - over the top security rules having very bad impact”

The approach HSBC have to security is so over the top there is a very detrimental effect to the service you receive. Moreover departments do not speak to each other so you tell the same information to different people over and over again. Issue 1). “BANK CHARGES”

They always take bank charges etc from your account at the right time to cause you to become overdrawn. They say they don't do it on purpose, but it's strange that it's always done at the worse time for you. I did have a helpful person on the telephone who got my large bank charge refunded as I had no money in my account for food until pay day in two weeks time, but I think that was only done because these days banks HAVE to help if you're struggling. Been with this shower for 32 years, since they were the Midland Bank. Went £1.32 overdrawn for 3 days and they wanted £50 bank charges !!! Discussed this with a mindless automaton whose English was infantile and he said I should be grateful that he had halved this to £25. “Horribly Sour Banking Corporation”

HSBC run a share dealing service under banner "Invest Direct". It is a poor service. My most recent misfortune was that when I rang to cancel a trade order they couldn't find my account then there system suffered a technical failure and when i finally got passed on to a second agent after being put on hold three times, my order could not be cancelled. By reading the the title I'm sure you are scratching your head to know w.t.f. that means same thing happened to me too. I opened a corporate account in this bank and got activation confirmation in 20 days but when I went there to deposit salary check they said that this account was closed 1 year ago because it went below the limit. I never really had an issue with HSBC up until I went to Australia. I am guilty of going with "the name you know" from home, but let me tell you about these idiots.
