“Worst customer service ever ”

I recently had to go in into the Branch in Renfrew town centre to withdraw money as I had forgotten my card, as I did not have my card the staff refused my withdraw which is fair enough I understand their are security precautions even though I have withdrew money from the Glasgow branch without my card without a problem before. “Archaic systems and dreadful customer service”

I have a credit card with BOS. I tried to change my address, but you can only do it by going to a branch or writing a letter including an original utility bill. I don't live near a branch, so the only other option is to write a letter. When I suggested that this was a little archaic I was told that this is a very safe method of doing things. “Worst business banking ever”

If you are just starting out in business as I am, please do yourself a favour and DO NOT open a Bank of Scotland business account. It took me a month just to get the account open. That was after dozens of calls because it was taking so long. Luckily I got my account number from someone on the phone, otherwise I would still be waiting for it because over a month later, I am still waiting on my welcome package with in the account details. bank of scotland is the worst bank when it comes to business banking. it takes more than 2 hours to even speak with the businee team via phone. please don't use it.

I never write reviews, but today's service by the bank requires one. I phoned from abroad regarding an admin problem with my account. It was resolved promptly and without me asking, they have credited my account £50 for having to deal with this during a holiday plus £15 to cover the long distance phone costs. “Unreliable, untrustworthy and liars to boot”

Had an overdraft facility on standard current account that I used occasionally. They had no problem offering this facility to me for years and years. One day they took it away out of the blue with no warning, consultation, discussion or consideration. When I questioned it, they said I didn't need it. “Prank of Scotland”

Bank staff used to be held in the highest regard, they used to be filled with intelligent, financially qualified people but bank of Scotland have proved that this is no longer the case. They are more like the greasy spoon of the banking world, poor quality services, ridiculously high mistake rate and poorly educated salesmen/women. “Online Mandate Form for business customers is rubbish”

My daughter asked me to get a mandate form for the charity account she is running. I found out (in branch) it is done by an online form, but when you come to use it with Safari, Firefox or Chrome, the system tells you you aren't using the latest pdf readers. It took me a long time to find out it only worked with IE - my least favourite browser, and a kick in the teeth for BoS customers using Apple MAC or Ipad. After countless "unplanned overdraft fees" of a steep £28 plus interest, being taken at least two months after the supposed fee was incurred, enough was enough. not to mention the great difficulty i had opening a student account with an overdraft.Most banks give grace periods or do not even let you enter this unplanned overdraft; mine was incurred due to them never being able to show me my available balance and continuing to let me make withdrawals, after which they'd write to me claiming they… Read Full Review

“Extortionate”

Having had a 20 year mortgage with BoS for 18 years I was trying to make plans for life after redemption. I increased my payments until this year (2014) when I asked BoS for a 2 year extension. Unbelievably they came up with a calculation which charged an interest rate of almost 50% over the 2 years! It just goes to show that any loyalty a customer might ever have felt for the bank is NEVER returned. “Terrible Banking”

do not expect to get any help if they screw you about. customer servise agent 90% have attitude problems.complaint WILL take months to get resolved if they even do, majority of the time they forget you have even logged a complaint. excessive charges as well even for a student account. this is a shame as there are a few agents who work for them who will go above and beond, they'r just few and far between… Read Full Review

I am from Bulgaria and came to Scotland to work.I opened an account with them in Portobello and was told my account would be up and running in a day or two. I was also told to bring my letter confirming my national insurance number when I got it. I may as well start with the the good points since i have so many bad things to say.. oh wait there aren't any. “Poor telephone services”

I lost my debit card so phoned bank of scotland. They forwarded me to a Lloyds call centre who said they couldnt help (because its a different bank). I had to phone back and was eventually helped. The man cancelled my card and said he would send a new pin. a new pin was not sent but instead a new telephone security number (which was not requested).
