Had a problem with a company taking money out of my account since April and not one single customer adviser could help me with my problem, it is now July and again the company had taken money, called the company for the millionth time then called the bank again, spoke to a lovely lady and it took her the matter of 5 minutes to fix my problem, there is some people who just can't be bothered to their job but she was more than happy to help and she did, thank you!!!… Read Full Review

“Tricked by the Bank of Scotland - Check your Insurance”

“poor care and no standards”

Moving home is stressful enough but add the bank of Scotland into the mix and stress goes off the scale. I ordered a new card, only problem was it had the wrong name on it. When did I discover this? when I was trying to transfer funds to complete a house sale. “Disgusting ethics and fees”

As a Halifax customer, I was happy for about 5 years, but they aggressively got me to open a BOS current account which suited me temporarily due to hating my other bank and living in Scotland where they were few of its branches. “I wish that they would listen..........”

I use my BOS debit card often now on the internet to order goods. The shiny plastic card has a pretty picture of the Stones of Callanish on it with the card number printed over it. This makes the numbers very difficult to read. So I went into the local branch and asked for a plain card please without a picture. As my title suggest this bank is a complete joke. I cancelled my account after 6 months - mysterious bank charges pop up out the blue, the call centre seem to be full of people who cant speak english, they are slow at doing things and just generally suck at everything to be honest. “Worst customer service ever ”

“Archaic systems and dreadful customer service”

I have a credit card with BOS. I tried to change my address, but you can only do it by going to a branch or writing a letter including an original utility bill. I don't live near a branch, so the only other option is to write a letter. When I suggested that this was a little archaic I was told that this is a very safe method of doing things. If you are just starting out in business as I am, please do yourself a favour and DO NOT open a Bank of Scotland business account. It took me a month just to get the account open. That was after dozens of calls because it was taking so long. It was resolved promptly and without me asking, they have credited my account £50 for having to deal with this during a holiday plus £15 to cover the long distance phone costs. “Unreliable, untrustworthy and liars to boot”

Had an overdraft facility on standard current account that I used occasionally. They had no problem offering this facility to me for years and years. One day they took it away out of the blue with no warning, consultation, discussion or consideration. When I questioned it, they said I didn't need it. “Prank of Scotland”

Bank staff used to be held in the highest regard, they used to be filled with intelligent, financially qualified people but bank of Scotland have proved that this is no longer the case. They are more like the greasy spoon of the banking world, poor quality services, ridiculously high mistake rate and poorly educated salesmen/women. “Online Mandate Form for business customers is rubbish”

My daughter asked me to get a mandate form for the charity account she is running. I found out (in branch) it is done by an online form, but when you come to use it with Safari, Firefox or Chrome, the system tells you you aren't using the latest pdf readers. It took me a long time to find out it only worked with IE - my least favourite browser, and a kick in the teeth for BoS customers using Apple MAC or Ipad.
