Fascinating. My father died in January 2009, and have since tried to access information regarding an account through the Halifax Bereavement Centre. For 12 months the Halifax have refused to give any information on this account, although I am a executor of my fathers will.
The transactions in this account, which were stumbled on accidentally, are the key to a 3rd party fraud which involves several 100 thousand pounds.

The halifax have refused to disclose any information in relation to this matter although they are aware of the probable fraud. It would appear that because of their lack of duty of care in relation to my father, their major concern is one of litigation. Not really sure who is worse; the alleged fraudster or the Halifax Bank

A great bank brought to its knees by wide boys following the Halifax takeover. Their systems became totally shambolic from about 2002 to 2005, from personal experience, they seemed quite unable to tell using their internal systems whether payments from my account were fraudulent or not. I greatly reduced using the account, but recently paid a cheque for £3088 which they lost in clearing, then paid electronically, the money has not arrived, I have had no response from the bank, and when I l ...

When I noticed that the Bank of Scotland were offering 5.38% on their Total Business Account, I rang them and asked to switch my Direct Business Account to their new product. I was told that it was for new customers only. I then suggested I keep my existing account with them and open a new Total Business Account with them, and was refused. I then said I would then close all my existing accounts with them and return as a new customer so that I could apply for their new product. I was told that it ...

2nd time in 12 months HBOS failed to calculate my Tax Dividends correctly. It has been now taking over 2 1/2 months after their formal written acknowledgement to give me an updated statement.

Very frustrating company to deal with. If I were you I would go straight to the Royal Bank of Scotland. They actually give you a manager to deal with.

My mother who suffers with epilepsy has banked with the Bank of Scotland for many years without too much trouble however since my dad died it would appear that they have been "selling" her products that she does not need or understand. This came to light the other day when I had travelled to Edinburgh from the Borders to collect something. While in town I intended to stop off at my mum's new house for a coffee, she had moved in the previous weekend - a fresh start after being widowed - and inste ...

I have been a customer with the Bank of Scotland for over 20 years, and I have noticed a decline in the quality of service ever since they linked with the Halifax. The staff are extremely rude on the phone, and give misleading information. I have personal and business accounts with this bank, and they have made a small fortune from me. Well, no more, because I am closing my accounts and going elsewhere.

As a long-standing customer with various business and personal accounts I have first-hand experience of the widespread deterioration in Bank of Scotland standard of service.
The most recent problems have been poor quality work in integrating the different IT systems resulting in data being corrupted and lost.

Every time I need service to do something, nothing works. I made a transaction of 690.00 pounds to my German account by telephone banking. All details I gave were correct. They forgot the last number of the IBAN. Now the money has disappeared. They started to investigate 4 days after I had told them the details were wrong. They don't care about me getting in trouble because I can't pay anything in Germany. This will take weeks, actually I don't believe I'll get my money back this month.
    I also ...

I have had accounts with the Bank of Scotland for over 10 years. Business and personal. Credit balances in excess of £20,000. Yet they charge £30 per transaction even when in credit. Do not reply to letters of complaint. Do not reply to Financial Ombudsman. They returned 2 items on an account in error..they admitted it..no apology, no compensation...Nuthin!.. They sent my statements to an incorrect address for 5 months. ...god knows why.....Accounts now transferred..to RBS what else ...

After 14 years I'm calling it quits with the Bank of Scotland. Poor service over the phone, no response to complaints via letter (still waiting after 4 months). I could go on all day. A bank that allows its "largest" football clubs to stay millions in debt, while other smaller clubs are threatened with closure. Looking elsewhere....
