I have held current accounts and mortgage accounts with Barclays for over 30 years - never a penny overdrawn or a penny in arrears. My credit rating is perfect. I received notification re pre-approved loan - applied for £5000on-line - was told I needed to take my ID and recent utility bill into branch. I duly did this in my lunch break today -qued for 50 minutes - only to be told by the cashier that I had to make an appointment - the earliest appointment would be 30.03.17 - 10 days time! I am absolutely shocked!! My mother has recently passed away and I went through the bereavement process to find that Barclays bereavement notifications are actually processed by Simplify private private company!!! YOU SPEAK TO SIMPLIFY ON THE TELEPHONE WHO PRETEND TO BE BARCLAYS!!!! They see ALL BANK DETAILS, ACCOUNT NUMBER, EVERYTHING THAT IS PROVATE AND CONFIDENTIAL!!! I am absolutely shocked!! “Worst Customer Service Ever!”

Barclays is the worst company I've ever dealt with. I filled out an online application for an Apple card (to use the 18 month financing option) and they wouldn't approve because they confused me with my son who has a similar name. I spoke to 8 Barclay people, the last of whom was a supervisor who assured me that she was taking care of the confusion and would approve me right away. In August I received a letter from Barclays offering a good deal on balance transfers. I phoned and arranged a transfer. At the same time I set up a direct debit payment and I received a letter confirming this. I was very surprised when I got my credit card bill to find out that the transfer hadn't taken place. for the past Month I have had a problem accessing my accounts because of a security question that I answered wrongly on an occasion. Now I understand why the bank would go down the road of blocking my accounts to safeguard myself which i respect. “Terrible Stratford Westfield Branch ”

I had the unfortunate occasion to have to visit the Stratford Westfield, London, branch on Thursday 4th August 2016, between 1630 and 1705 hrs. Is this a proper Barclays branch? Really? What a joke for a branch. I was waiting in the queue for counter service. I waited 20 minutes for service ! TWENTY MINUTES ?! Barclays is a piece of ..... Literally. Since I opened the account with them I have only encountered problems. Don't even know how they can call themselves a bank. Not to mention the extreme amount of security they have, which sometimes is extremely annoying. Tried to make a payment to get my flight ticket home, 4 times trying to pay and 4 times rejected. I have banked with Barclays for 30 years. In March my on-line banking was hacked in to and a loan taken out in my name. A fraud enquiry was launched and I was advised I would have a full account of what happened in 20 days. Trying to get help and advice from either the fraud or complaints department is impossible[for example a call back request as lines were busy took 6 hours and came through at 21.15 hrs] I have now been told to expect a time scale of 40 days. I banked with Barclays for nearly 30 years and they let me down at every possible point - when I had money and when I didn't - grant cheques, aggressively wanting overdrafts paid off, waiting till a student was well into one then massively upping fees, refusing help in short term need. I have been banking with barclays for about 4 years and to day I made a mistake when on there online banking I payed money in to the wrong account and when I phoned them up the told me that it's my fault and that they would not help me with trying to get my money back. The very serious scaldals apart, the way Barclays is moving in customer relations and services is very worrying. At my local branch they have closed all but one service till and installed machines. If one wants to talk to someone one has to make an appointment. Recently we had a very unprofessional meeting with a female person that works for Barclay's branch near us; she was very unprofessional,sarcastic in her comments and arrogant too. I was a client of this bank (not any more, thanks God!). At the beginning everything was going quite ok. Then one day I discovered someone took money from my account - 5 times the same amount, about 10 pounds each. Its not much, but still annoying. It never happened to me before.
