First of all let me tell you that I have been in customer services call centres for 14 long years with 3 top English companies. Recently we had a very unprofessional meeting with a female person that works for Barclay's branch near us; she was very unprofessional,sarcastic in her comments and arrogant too. “A disaster!”

I was a client of this bank (not any more, thanks God!). At the beginning everything was going quite ok. Then one day I discovered someone took money from my account - 5 times the same amount, about 10 pounds each. Its not much, but still annoying. It never happened to me before. I asked Barklays to refund it and they did, but I never got to know what was happening. I´m the only person who had access to my banking details. “Terrible Service”

My experience with Barclay's Business banking has been nothing but awful. From months long mandate change, to rude staff member in the branch who claimed to have rung in advance before a meeting but didn't, then asking me to go into the branch with my ID three times because they didn't register it properly. 

Cheques take weeks to go through and staff clearly haven't been briefed on how to handle foreign cheques- sometimes telling me they could' take them.

I'm sorry I have to disagree with this comment. Barclays is one of the more reasonable banks out there, their bank charges are a lot lower than other banks, in fact the lowest I know and customer service is very good.

Every bank does have its problems and to every customer who's query cannot be resolved, the bank gets down graded and bad reviews. But all in all, Barclays is the one who puts its customers first, good with your money and will do its best to try and resolve any problems you have.

I am a consumer journalist and have vast experience with all retail outlets etc and I can honestly give my recommendation to Barclays as a bank. Set aside any odd little mistake like all banks have, but generally a well deserved four stars.

Their customer service is horrible, they are rude and they do not even trying to help you solve your problem. When you have a problem with your account they just say that is your fault and try to help you figure out how you can fix it. “Stupidity”

I have banked with Barclays for a number of years, over 20 in fact, but find their current attitude is stupid. 

Yesterday I waited in the Kettering branch for over 20 minutes to make a payment. There were 2 cashiers on tills, and a queue of people waiting. There were at least 10 employees, just wandering about, obviously doing what they thought was more important, like filing, stapling bits of paper, and avoiding making eye contact! 

Not one would jump on a cashiers desk. This is shocking

“Waste of Time”

I was told that this is good for savings accounts. Yeah, ok. For a month now I've been trying to set one up. I get through the entire application including those five pointless questions, every time I get a "could not process" message. I also tried calling several times to get a reason for that. No one ever answers no matter what time I call during their hours. “Can't seem to resolve long term IT snags”

I have been trying, without success, to set up new payees online since late July - I keep getting an "error 06" message. In July I was told Barclays were working on resolving the IT snag, and (foolishly) I believed them. Today I wasted nearly 2 hours , getting the same error and trying to get Barclays to resolve the problem - the "helpline" (hollow laughter) tell me my date of birth isn't correct despite the fact that I have the same date on my birth certificate, and therefore they cannot help… Read Full Review

“terible credit card”

I had an airline credit card with another bank. When the airline merged I was changed to Barclay. I had been with that bank over 20 years and never had a problem. In the 6 months I was with Barclay, I was issued 3 different cards. Each time they issue a new card my automated payment is suspended and I get a late fee and interest charge. Barclays are replacing cashiers with machines. It would be nice to feel that the bank that I have loaned many thousands of pounds to as a customer saving with them would at least respect me enough to allow me to speak to someone and have them help me and deal with my payments into the bank. My expression and only word to sum up my experience "SHOCKED"!!!! I have been a customer since 2004 with a healthy balance and never any issues at all. I have 2 Barclay Credit Cards in good order as well. My daughter wanted a start up loan. 50k family putting in 25k.for a reptile shop. Meet business managers all seemed to be going ok if a bit slow. Senior manager went of sick.
