General comments: i rang barclays 53 times in one day and got the same answering machine everytime.i then carried this on for the next four days.in total i phooned barclays 172 times and never got though.in the end i rang another number and they put me through to guess.. answering machine.if you ever get a complaint with barclays forget it its taking for ever.

I went overdrawn by £1.36 for less than 24 hours with barclays bank and was charged £22, which they flatly refused to refund. I admit I was at fault, but the amount of charge is far too high, I have since moved banks because of their poor service

Barclays Bank lies to you - never follow up on a exsisting querry you may have - pass the buck - poor customer service skills - more importantly you pay money into their bank in which they provide absolutely zero service for it!!
The one good thing is that if you can get past the mine field of customer service representives that know absolutely nothing and reach a manager in the /customer service/complaints dept- They are very good in dealing with your problem/complaint. - Just a shame that the ...

Bad customer service, I came across quite a few employers that there were unable to reply to simple questions. Barclays Bank phone service for instance, it took them over 15 minutes to find out the IBAN number of my account. They claimed that IBAN was sufficient for an international transaction when the swift code was also needed.

I live abroad, and have tried, unsuccessfully, to manage my account in the UK with Barclays. My card is frequently frozen, I spend hours at long-distance rates trying to get telephone service, and an explanation for why my card is frozen. I was very pleased with Woolwich before Barclays Bank took over, and by and large, the transition was pretty seamless.
We have had great difficulty in setting up direct debits. We keep getting them returned by the bank, even though we definitely have sufficient fund to pay. The reason they are giving is that they have no DD mandate from the requesting organisation, however try telling companies like Capital One that.

After having my computer hacked into I reported not known transactions going out of my bank account. I had to cancel my card and was told I would receive my new one in 3 to 5 working days. Had Direct Debit problems which have been set up but never shown on the online banking. However Barclays claim that I have cancelled this d/d and reinstated it on various occasions and have produced audit reports making me out to be a liar!!! Has anyone had these problems!!! I had to close my a/c as I don't trust them no longer with my banking

I emailed them and the auto response said I would hear back with-in 48 hours. A week later I was e-mailed back they said they would not help me. E-mails back and forth and ended with me paying the HIGH fees and paid off the balance so I could not get anymore fees. When they received my payment they closed the account. That just added insult, they really don't care about the smaller accounts

It would be useful if Barclays Bank made it easier for customers to contact them by adding the full address and e-mail, either on the regular bank statements or on the online banking page.
Perhaps take on board that not everyone can get to the Branch easily and employ more people to answer the phone.
I have banked with them for over 26 years but have now decided to move my account elsewhere.

I have been kept waiting on the automated customer service line for 57 minutes already tonight!!!! I have heard an automatic message every 50 seconds thanking me for waiting and telling me that my call WILL be answered when a customer service advisor becomes available. Barclays has gone down hill.Live in a strong Welsh community and unable to make an appointment with a welsh speaker to discuss and open new accounts. Would have to wait over a week to see a so called Branch Manager (English Speaker) who is not based out our Branch and appointments after 3.15pm not available. worst bank ever been customer for 18 years and there service is rubbish just one example wanted to increase overdraft for one month to take into account a payment that was going to come out which would have put me over the limit but they said no so when they rang me to tell me i was over my limit and i was getting charged i was not best pleased as i tried to sort it out and then pretty much demanded i paid 200 there and then.
