I could add lots of information here about the Banks mistakes how I was treated, but you would of read it all before, I have taken my complaint to the ombudsmen and hope to have the matter resolved through them. What I would advice to anyone looking at using this bank would be to stay well clear, they will breach their own terms and conditions, they will ignore complaints, they will use threatening or abusive behaviour while your talking to them and they will always say its your fault! I have just been forced to complain about this company through the financial ombudsman, as it is apparently impossible to make a formal complaint through the company themselves. This whole situation is as a result of an application dating back to November last year to have my mortgage put temporarily on interest only, following redundancy & loss of substantial income. In a nutshell, it is now 18th April the following year & I am no further forward. I have always been an excellent... (read more)

BARCLAYS SERVICE IS NON EXISTANT. For example Yesterday I was kept waiting for 72 minutes on their "fraud line" as my debit card had been stopped for reasons unknown. Eventually an Indian operator said "putting you trough" and passed the call back to England and more recorded music. Today the same thing is happening - so far on ther line for 78 minutes - the first 60 minutes with an Indian operator and then, once again, passed to a UK operator who kept on the line while recorded music was played. Having been with Barclays for over 50 years both personally and corporately I shall close all business and personal accounts later early next week. I cannot help thinking that this is probably a manifistation of something severely wrong throughout this Bank and I will feel safer when my funds and investments are no longer with this Bank. I shall be happy to to provide more information and may be reached on 02380 207233. I have to agree with some of the above comments, I have been with Barclays Bank since Dec 1964 and although during the 70s I very nearly changed my Bank due to awful service, In which they vastly improved there act after screaming at them face on in a Bank full of customers. However sadly Barclays are failing the customers badly again, Mainly on the so called secure on line Banking system when it comes to purchasing on line. There used to be a security check
with questions like your Birth place, Mothers maiden name etc. which was fine. But for some obscured reason they now ask 3 multiple questions. On this occasion I only knew one my Sort Code Number the other 2 questions were like what addresses
do you know from this list, as I did not know any of them I put none and the same for the 3rd question. Only for Barclays to decline my transaction and they flag up a Premium Price Phone number with a ref number where I tried to get through 3 times at
15-20 mins at a time with out getting through. I have now today managed to get through after 10 mins wait only to hear the voice
of an over seas employee who is very hard to understand and clearly working from some sort of Script. They went through the normal security checks plus loads relating to your Bank statements ( Make sure you have copies of them at hand or you are stuffed ) I am now told my Debit Card will be lifted so that I can use again, but leave for a couple of hours before trying again.
I did ask the question that if I try the transaction again those 3 multiple questions will come back and it is highly likely I will not know the answers. Just a thought maybe this is Barclays way of
making loads of money through the premium lines to cover there costly PPI fiasco ?????
Next we will be having Premium Phone Line refunds call centres sprouting up.
Another very annoying this about this Barclays on line banking is the complaints e-mail page where by you fill in all the details and send only to be told its e-mail facility is of line, I have tried this a dozen times and It does NOT work.
