I ordered several items and was able to pick delivery dates which ensured all items would be delivered on the same day so I only needed to take one day off from work and I arranged a tradesman for the following day to install the items. “Avoid them”

Don't believe the hype that these guys are excellent. New fridge delivered. Dropped on my hall floor damaging my floor and fridge is damaged !!!! Not what you expect from a name like John Lewis. Avoid them and take your custom elsewhere. Called customer service as due to my dad paying for it I can't be the one to resolve the issues. Need whole floor replacing and a new fridge. “Shocking service and are holding my money with no goods”

“Appalling Customer Experience”

Purchased an IT system from John Lewis on-line on 12 April. It arrived faulty on 15 April, was reported as such and a replacement provided on 16 April. 1. The only detailed paperwork received related to the faulty PC (Purchase Order Number, Statement of length of Guarantee, Price Paid, Purchase and Delivery Dates, My Name and Address, etc). The same courier is not used for delivery, JL may contract the same company though due to said contractual obligations, often pick ups/deliveries is not possible and need to be arranged separately.

With regards to the warranty, I'm not sure what you're trying to imply but it is more than likely the warranty changed because a promotion or sale had just taken place.

“John Lewis fitted bedrooms”

If you are considering buying John Lewis fitted bedroom furniture, DON'T! John Lewis out-source this to Hammonds. John Lewis very carefully hide the fact that, other than collect your money and charge premium rates for their name, they have nothing else to do with the after sales. If anything goes wrong (which it probably will) it is almost impossible to get any aftersales service because John Lewis hide the fact that they don't make or install the furniture, even from most of their own staff… Read Full Review

This is by no means hidden. With regards to any item purchased, there is a period of guarantee which belongs to the manufacturers/ contractors. This is common knowledge. If anything goes wrong within the first year or two of purchase then you contact said people.

I'm not sure what reflection on JL it has if a third party company does something entirely out of their control. You can't possibly expect a company to have qualified technicians/engineers/installers in quite literally every aspect of purchases.

“Stressful poor buying experience”

Decided to buy a TV online from John Lewis. BIG MISTAKE! Despite 5 attempts at finalising the purchase by pressing the pay button nothing happened. OK move to option B speak to a human. Reasonable chap gave him all card details etc and made a BIG point of informing him several times about restricted access to our property. Made a delivery date some 7 days later! of between 7-2pm. First of all, why press the button five times? It is not a refresh button and often people will accidentally end up paying for something five times and blame JL for slow internet/fraud checks (causing the system to go slow)

When leaving notes for delivery drivers, there is no which way the agent you are speaking to is able to directly tell the specific courier your address instructions. All he can do is leave a note on the system and hope the courier is competent enough to review the notes. Unfortunately in this case he wasn't.

Yes, the agent would have full access to your bank details so he did a security check. Call me old fashioned, but do you like the thought of a complete stranger calling in with your name and JL giving them all of your details without checking security?

“Nightmare Delivery”

I placed an on line with John Lewis on 8th February. I order a lot from John Lewis and normally it comes in a couple of days. However, this turned out to be longer, and when I got the tracking numbers I realised it would be delivered on Thursday 12th - when I would not be at home all day. I Recently bought a samung tablet had problems with it charging after 2 months . I phone technical support they told be to take it to the nearest john Lewis shop.they sent it off to be repaired. They Rang me to say it was back in store fixed. Got home with the tablet and there was a note in the box saying it hadn't been fixed . “Spent 10K, left us all the rubbish”

My husband spent over £10k on fitted wardrobe, last week the fitters spent 3 days fitting them and left us all the rubbish, they said they will collect them next day but never turned up. When we called and complained they said the earliest they can do is next week, it's so much rubbish that the carpet fitter won't be able to fit the carpet. “Didn't want to know but I tracked down their MD!”

I agree with you their Customer Service is the pits. I will be writing to their MD shortly to complain about the way I was treated. You cannot call an individual store any more. It's a call centre!

“Inept installation "experts"”

I ordered a gas oven from John Lewis on the basis of their reputation, I should have come on here first! While their delivery and installation date was much later than others we felt confident that there would be less hassle with such a reputable name behind it. The installers came when they said, but expected the old cooker to be removed ready for them. We bought a cooker from JL beginning of December. They would not be able to fit it till after Christmas!! and it would cost £65 Electric cooker. So we took delivery of the cooker in a couple of days. I found a local reliable electrician , charged £30!! So a rip off! Our problem was getting the £75 cash back! I managed in the end. Without their useless Customer Services. We have bought no end of electrical appliances from them over 30 years they have been locally. They are not customer friendly like they used to be, too much about making bonuses. Should have realised after the fiasco with the new fridge!! You have my sympathy I don't think we will buy from them again!

Oh dear John Lewis. You really need to sort out your customer services, after all, this is what we pay a little bit extra for. Having alerted you to a pricing issue, JL error, I was questioned as if I were trying to defraud you out of millions of pounds.
