“Ordering Online is a problem”

A few months ago John Lewis took £80 off my credit card in an unauthorised transaction. Initial explanation was from them its fraud. So I cancelled my card, but then few days later they said it was an error on their part. Too late, cards already cancelled. Anyhow, inconvenient and annoying but £80 refunded. Today, attempting to purchase a MacBook Pro, a £2300 transaction and initially the transaction is rejected by my credit card company as they put a watch on any John Lewis transactions… Read Full Review

“Dreadful Customer Service”

Ordered bed from John Lewis and paid additional charge to have bed assembled. Bed came with parts missing - bed left partially assembled resulting in sleeping on the floor. Told not to worry parts would be ordered and office would contact me. After waiting a while realised that no one was going to contact me. “Awful customer service and quality of items: stay well...”

Have just bought a new house, and have lots of furniture/home appliances to buy. Friends recommended John Lewis: I was extremely disappointed and will not be going there again. Ordered washing machine, and installation of washing machine which had to be arranged for separate day. “Worst Customer service ever !”

Ordered online like I have done many times before (My compnay has spent over £30,000 with JL), delivered to Waitrose store in Hitchin, they refused to let me have my order because I do not own any photo ID, I have a birth certificate, paper driving licence lots of credit cards, but none have a photo, rude, arrogant staff. they told me that in 7 days they will return it and 3-5 days after that I will get a refund. “Bedroom cupboards”

We have just had five bedroom cupboards supplied and fitted apparently by John Lewis but actually by Hammonds, their sub-contractor. This has taken nearly three months which has meant that our renovation and occupancy had to be delayed because the carpets couldn't be fitted as the cupboards had to be realigned to vertical. “Never knowingly undersold on service... don't make me...”

Bought a table in their sale. They delivered it late and fully assembled. The men delivering it bashed it around my lift, through the door of my flat and eventually wedged it in the living room doorway. In so doing, they damaged the table. “Atrocious Customer Handling and Care”

In a very short matter of fact, I have never been treated as i have trying to purchase my items on line with my card which was rejected by the JL internal security department which you can't even get through to! The managers at customer services are not helpful at all and turning down a customer who wants to buy their product by saying 'there is nothing i can help you, sorry for the inconvenience'! Over the years, I have spent thousands with John Lewis.
As you can see in my review of their on-line store however, John Lewis will no longer get my business.
Review Centre should introduce zero rating for those the few who deserve the accolade. A worst -in-class service does not merit any "star" rating.

“Terrible customer service. AVOID”

My story is so long i will try to keep this brief. John Lewis have messed up my order three times now. Truly appalling. I had to pay next day delivery which has yet to be refunded and guess what? The item didnt even arrive the next day. I been promised a call back from customer complaints to discuss the matter, my refund for postage and a good will gesture but this has never happened. “Hopeless delivery service”

I ordered a TV online and selected the second available date offered for delivery. Payment was taken from my credit card immediately. Approximately one hour before delivery should have been made I received a phone call to advise that no delivery would be happening as the TV was out of stock. “Poor staff knowledge”

Went to our local John Lewis Baby Department. Needed to buy Nursery Furniture, Pram, Car Seat etc. Was very excited as this was our first baby shopping trip. Arrived at the store and had to wait 40 minutes before we were served. “They would not deliver a fridge!”

Last week, I went to John Lewis in Bluewater to replace our Maytag American fridge freezer. I was interested in either a John Lewis or Fisher Paykel appliance. “Worst customer service ever”

John Lewis on line offer the worst customer service that I have ever experienced. I live in Perthshire which JL call a 'remote region' therefore all deliveries are via a third party carrier. I ordered a book case and was promised 7 day delivery, over two weeks later the item arrived, heavily damaged and with pieces missing. We spent £1,000's with John Lewis in the 1990's when we were setting up out house, but in the last 10 years have shopped there very little, as we felt that their prices and convenience were being overtaken by the availability of internet outlets. “Worst delivery experience from any store”

I waited for over 10 days after placing my order (for a TV) to be given a delivery slot. I was given a 6 hour time slot (7am - 1pm). The driver rang at 1pm to say he was not coming - he "ran out of time" and "sometimes things happen on the road". He said JL would ring within "half an hour" to rearrange the delivery. I ordered a new cooker online and paid the extra £74 for connection and disposal of old cooker. I took a day off work and waited in all day, only for the cooker to turn up at 6:30 PM and be told they couldn't connect it and if I didn't like that I should ring their so-called customer services. “Rude staff, faulty products, Don't care attitude.”

I bought a soap dispenser and its tray. The dispenser didn't work so I went to return it. I used it once in my kitchen and it stopped working. Returns lady told me that it is a bathroom item (very rudely as is if was some sort of idiot) and that I shouldn't have used it in the kitchen. HI! how about my attending an interview at their private members club in Cookham.

The Odney Club is for JL members only. They advertised for a beauty therapist to work Sundays - went along , carrried out a full massage treatment on a member there - then proceeded to sit for a full hour's interview aterwards.

Imagine how I felt to be turned down via email over an "unclean" uniform - why let me massager her then?
