I was one of the first in '99 to be invited to be a Black Card holder. I'm known as a 'Charter Member' which means I'm one level above that of a normal Black Card user.

I'm only 36, but have had an Amex card since I was 21, so they know me well..

Many upgrades available when you use the American Express Centurion Black, flew home to NY using British Airways, even thou only booked into economy, one flash of the black card - and I was whisked away to first class. Sitting just 2 rows away from Victoria Beckham!

Jimmy Choo (marbella) shut down for one afternoon so I was able to browse the shoes in privacy - this privilege was gained by my Black Card! Once tried to spend $80.000 USD in Hermes NY - and shamefully the black card was denied, but after a call to AMEX, all went through the next time.

American Express Centurion Black is the best card and the only card I use. I don't care so much about the attention.

However the extended warranty, replacements on things that break or my wife misplaces, upgrades on flights (to first class) and hotels ... the list continues.

If a restaurant does not accept AMEX and does not serve Coke, I don't eat there. I'm loyal to these two things!

It took two seconds of flashing the American Express Centurion Black Credit Card in their face in the most discreet manner, and now I am the male version of Paris Hilton!

After having the Platinum credit card, I will never go back unless I cannot afford it. The American Express Centurion Black credit card is simply the best, and it's worth every dime.

I have found the upgrades and the ability to do anything, well worth the price of the card.

I would not trade the American Express Centurion Black credit card for any other!

The list of benefits is endless, such as: prompt service, extremely polite service people, value in services, card comes with free car insurance on rentals and the concierge service is the ultimate. I lost my card to a pick pocket at the airport in Rome. I boarded a flight to Barcelona and arrived at my hotel 1.5 hours later. A new card was waiting for me. Now that is service! When checking into an approved hotel, they upgrade me to the nicest available suite in the hotel. Free of Charge. The hotel also gave me a gift. In Venice, Italy, the hotel gifted me by paying for my party's dinner. There were 18 people in the party, and the bill was over $2,900.00.

After 3 years sustained spending, at a rate of circa £400,000 per month, I was invited to accept a Centurion card from AMEX. Service is as expected, value for money reasonable in terms of its social ROI. Would recommend to any frivolous associates. Recently spent £8million in two transactions, and the card, which was slightly alarming in some ways, but satisfying that I could do it on a whim, without prior notice for a WIRE etc. Looking to purchase a new Sunseeker next week. Let's hope this transaction is as flawless.

After I was offered the American Express Centurion Black credit card I soon realised that the world was at my feet, and as soon as my clients found out that I had one I suddenly accumulated more business. I had a little chat with the boss of American Express to have a new card made for me with a more expandable spending limit, and I have to say, he's done a fine job of doing so.

The US black seems alot more difficult to get than the UK black. In the UK I was told they were not issuing any until late in the year; waiting for Amex Platinum to pass though a few upgrades to member benefits. I presume the same is true in the US, there is a set time when they will review accounts - if they truly are global in branding I wouldn't expect anything until late 2006. All my best.

Well I know I am not Centurion material, but then again I have no need nor desire for a credit card that comes with a $2500 annual fee. And as far as being secretive from the average customer??? Well, I think the secret is now out of the bag.

I actually have a very reliable source of information on the American Express Centurion Card. American Express DOES give the card to the "high roller" consumers now. The requirements to obtain the card are very strict. The card does carry a $2,500 US annual fee and a very substantial minimum spending requirement per year. The Centurion card is kept very secret from the average consumer just to keep the prestige. As for the benefits that come along with the card the sky is the limit. I have heard several stories from current "Black Card" card members and the crazy things that they have done with the card. I also know that with the American Express Centurion Card the customer service is unbelievable and the best that you could get. If you get a chance to get the card I strongly recommend it.

No offense here - but the Black card is offered exclusively by invite only. It is very prestigious - a 40K monthly spend is not even near enough the type of spend that the particular card is geared towards.

I was offered the American Express Centurion Black credit card about a year ago, and of course. I was not at all hesitant in accepting! I was a student at the time, and so having this card was awesome, enabling me to travel the world in term holidays, meet some awesome people, dine in the worlds smartest restaurants and shop in the most exclusive boutiques... You wouldn't believe the amount of attention you receive! I LOVE IT!

I am one of the original holders of the American Express "Centurion Black Card", as I am grandfathered in for the bargain rate of $1,000 a year. I can't begin to say how many times the card has come through for me, but none more than when I didn't know that you needed a passport to travel to Canada post 9-11. Without Amex I would probably still be there. It is the ultimate weapon having this card.

If you're from LA, you don't need a passport to travel from the states to Canada until January of 2008. Check out the government's website.

“I've had an American Express Centurion Black Credit...”

I've had an American Express Centurion Black Credit Card for about 6 months, and I have been thoroughly impressed on all levels. The customer service is spot on (although in fairness, Amex have always offered good service). I have certainly noticed more courtesy and personal care taken with calls I make to Centurion customer services. The staff there are excellent, and I am sure only the cream of Amex's CSA's are allowed to answer Centurion calls.

Incidentally, when I gave up my platinum card, Amex refunded the whole yearly fee, even though I was 9 months into the year!

The prestige of the card only really became apparent to me when I recently visited New York. In America I received a comment at virtually every purchase I made. Although this could be distracting, I actually gained a lot of fun from the reaction. On one particular occasion I was stood casually at a pay register in my jeans and T shirt next to a very affluent looking American guy. He was proudly sporting his Platinum Amex, virtually waiving it for all to see. You should have seen his face when I pulled out my black card - yes I enjoyed that, and so did the two guys who were serving both of us (incidentally I didn't waive it - the Black Amex just seems to get noticed).

In the UK the card is less recognised as a status symbol. This is fine with me, as I don't want any recognition when I am buying petrol or groceries. The card does of course get noticed at restaurants and hotels.

In 6 months I have virtually saved the yearly fee on upgrades, travel insurance and benefits.

Highly recommended, well worth the annual fee and great fun!

Hahahaha , great great great, i adore situations like that one You had in NY....however in my county just recently we got the platinum card so i never paid much attention to cards at all due to the fact that i have agreement directly with issuing bank about my high limits on the simple green card :) which is also great fun when I spend a fortune in Monte via Napoleone street and shop cash desk operator gets nervous when system checking my card or similar thing in Las vegas when club manager tried to politely say that because I was from Croatia they needed to check my card......after I bought my 5th bottle of Cristal I got another one for free and each night was the same :D

I received an invite from American Express a couple of years back, but I didn't at the time realise that Centurion and Black were the same thing. I held on to the invite and sent it in, and I have just got my black card today. Hopefully it will prove as rewarding as many of you have found it.

To get the invite, you don't have to spend tens of thousands a month - I certainly didn't. It seems like the moment I had spent over say £150k on my Amex in total, I was invited. I have never paid late and I have always paid by direct debit.

Good luck to anyone wanting an invite.

By the way, I did speak to Centurion when I was sending in my application, and they told me they were holding back on invites until the latter part of this year, because of some restructuring in Platinum (whatever that meant).

I've had an American Express Centurion Black Credit Card for over a year now. A couple of weeks ago I was in Palm Beach walking down the main street with some friends. We wanted something to eat so we went inside a restaurant. The person at the desk said that this was for Actors ONLY. I went outside and called American Express. Not more than 5 minutes later I was sitting down and ordering food.

This card is great, and you can get what ever you want anytime.

I have lived in Palm Beach most of my adult life and there is not restaurant here for "actors only". Any American Express Card provides you the ability to charge millions of dollars anytime - all you need is the right credit rating. AMEX lies when they say there is no Preset credit limit on their cards - of course there is - it is linked to how much you spend each month. So maybe they are mincing word "preset" meaning before you get the card. So - if you believe them then run right out and buy 50 million dollars worth of diamonds and then leave the country - sell them, and you can fight them in court for years with the proceeds!!!

Most companies usually provide me with their products or services at a discount or for free.

This sounds like an amazing piece of insurance cover. But, I have to confess to never having heard of it before! (I thought that EVERY piece of 'junk mail' had dropped on my doorstep at one time or another.) I will make a point of reading the relevant literature if and when it finally arrives. Judging however by the purchase price (or annual fee?) it may however be reserved for 'major players' in which event I may have a very long wait! (I very much like its colour).

I'm a Japanese woman and I've had an American Express Centurion Black Credit Card for almost 2 years. The card was introduced in December 2003 in Japan.

I'm not very rich, and the card's annual fee is surely expensive comparing to others'. But I feel it worthwhile. The service at the American Express Centurion Service Center in Japan is excellent!

I always ask the American Express Centurion Service Center (AECSC) in Japan to arrange my trip overseas. When I booked Hayman Island Resort in Australia for Christmas 2005, at first I booked (through AECSC) the Pool Access Room (935 Australian Dollars per night) for 2 nights. But after they arranged my entire trip, I was told that the Hayman Island Resort Hotel made a mistake and there were no Pool Access Room available for those days. But AECSC in Japan negotiated with the hotel and I got Pool Suite Room (2,100 A Dollars per night) for 2 nights with initial rate (935 A Dollars x 2 nights)! So I didn't have to change my entire plan (including air flight schedule and stay for other hotels).

Some things are not always possible, but they always do their best and they are very helpful.

I've had the American Express Centurion Black Credit Card for nearly 10 years, and after that long you would expect your bank to know a little about you and your preferences. Amex do, and they treat you very very well. This card will open doors and generate service in stores that the many platinum and gold cards will not. This is not a credit card, it is a charge card, and as such the criteria for being offered this is fairly straight forward. Pay your balance on time, use the travel service when you travel, and use the card as often as you can. The main criteria though is loyalty. Be loyal to them and they will reward you.

I have been a Platinum card member for 20 years. I would like to upgrade to the Centurion card. However, I do not meet the spend requirement. My Fico is 850 and my Vantage score is 979. I love this card, and I enjoy the benefits of many Black Cards. I would look forward to making the Black American Express my primary card . Any thoughts?
