I started reading Air Gunner several years ago and it has gone from strength to strength. It is packed with gun reviews, hunting stories and technical advice.Recently it had a massive re-design and looks better than ever. Definitely one of the best airgun mags on the market. (read more)

Air Gunner is a very well layed out mag. The lads that write the articles do actually own air rifles, and use them regulary, so they speek the lingo. A very enjoyable read. Not enought pages. (read more)

I was thinking about buying airgunner to get an opinion about air arms s410 1.77 but if its true that the reviews aren't accurate then is there any one who could recommend a mag or even give a comment on the air arms s410 in 1.77 (read more)

Yes airgunner and airgun world are dominated by their advertisers but there is still a lot of interesting imformation to glean plus they portray or sport in a crucially good light and thereby if we are responsible shooters that can only be a good thing. (read more)

Airgunner and Airgun world are the only good airgun magazines or I do not know of the others. They cover all aspects of Airgunning including hunting and field target. The reviews are written very well explaining information in an understandable manner.
The write ups on hunting expeditions are very good, with excellent tips. I can't help noticing how they often mention certain makes of equipment through their expeditons, obviously a crafty marketing ploy. However, these reviews can often...

Air Gunner - I find the magazine useful and interesting, there is not a lot of gun magazines of its kind around, so I'm grateful for its existance. The magazine tends to praise everything, but that's just life. Most of the guns are great and maybe some people have high expectations from the reviews, but I don't know. The competitions are good. Afterall, you're only going to buy the magazine if you're interested in guns and as it's one of those frowned-upon sports, just like it. If you find... (read more)

I have stopped buying Air Gunner magazine now. I am fed up with reading how great everything is. I'm sure the airgunning public would rather have honest reviews of products rather than read pretty much the same thing every month.
If you read the magazine, tell me, have you ever read a line that says "this realy is a poorly made nasty airgun, don't buy it"?.
I didn't think so.
But this is true for a minority of guns that the mag reviews, but they don't like to say.
I also don't like the...

I agree that Air Gunner rarely faults the guns it reviews, but if it was a lot more critical then people would be critisising the fact that it had nothing good to say about weapons featured. You must remember that the people reviewing these so-called 'best buys' are professionals and are on quite a bit of money, so, for example, £600 for a gun will not matter to them if it is rubbish, at the end of the day they will just compare performance to the price rather than what it's like. Not all of us have the luxury of just being air gunners, most of us will have to live other lives and have to find time to get the best guns so we can enjoy our maybe little shooting time so I can see your point there. Also, I know £2 seems steep, but I am sure you wouldn't be complaining if you actually won the average kit of the gun, scope, mounts, pellets and lube normally worth between £500-900 in each issue. Admittedly the competitions are extremely easy so you won't stand much chance of being 'pulled out of the hat' compared to the other million or so entries but also remember that if you join BASA you can enter free using one of the tokens supplied. Overall, the mag features a large variety of good and bad guns. I hope I have restored a few people's faith in the magazine and I for one will continue to read it.

Is there some magazine that can write an unbiased review of an air rifle or new product without boot-licking the manufacturers?
I would sooner pay double the going rate for a magazine that tells you how it is.

Thanks Lew...Have just read some of their online reviews and you seem to have hit the nail on the head.
Would like to find a better source that critically reviews air guns.

Ballistics, 25, 50 and 75 (yard/meter) groupings, energy/footpounds delivered, and any other
tech. info that could be had... Some magazines are more along the lines of a "Consumer Reports"

If anyone out there as the answer to this .....Drop me a line

I agree.I stopped reading Airgunner and now read Airgun world and it is just the same as the reviews of airguns in the airgunner mag , very biased .I have never seen a reviewer say they would not buy a particular gun!....The best read i have found for anyone looking for an airgun is 'What Airgun?' the Essential buyers guide.

Springer's Response to lew's Review

That is a spot on statement. I find it hard enough to get an accurate and trustworthy rifle review as it is without airgunner magazine dressing everything up. I have been shooting air rifles for 8 years and with so much choice on the market it's hard to decide on which rifle combo to pick. Life would be a lot simpler if some hardware was scrutinised and some products compared with each other such as: bsa hornet vs air arms s400
air arms tx200 vs weihrauch hw97
or logun mk2 vs theoben rapid.
