Good Points: Cheap. Lots of features for the money.
Bad Points: No proper server back-ups performed. One man band.
General comments: I was happy with the web hosting service from Ancile Hosting UK until around 3 months ago when the first major outage occurred. This resulted in all websites hosted by Ancile being sent back in time by 3 months, as this was the most recent off-server backup!
I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt on this and stick with them, but it's now happened again, and yet again they have no recent backup. The following was posted on their website yesterday:
'TANTALUS SERVER DOWN
At Approximately 11:00hrs on Saturday 7th January, the Ancile Server (Tantalus) went down. Within 2 hours our Technicians got the server up and running and back online. At 15:00hrs, The Planet Data Centre acted upon 3 hour old request ticket to reboot the server without checking to see the status of it first. The Server upon reboot then produced errors on the main drive. The Data Centre then took it upon themselves to rebuild a RAID array that didn't exist to begin with, resulting in total data loss on both the main and backup drives. As this data loss was not caused by Ancile but by the data centre themselves, we can only apologise to ALL our hosted clients for the extended downtime. Our team is working 24/7 to try and retrieve whatever data we can in order to rebuild client accounts. We ask all our clients to be patient as this involves quite a lengthy process. Below, you will find regular progress reports to keep you updated. Not a very good way to run a hosting service - a recent off-server backup should always be available without excuses.

www.ancilehosting.co.uk have very nice and helpful support, even for special requests. And good prices! The tiny problems I've experienced have been fixed fast and efficently. Doesn't seem to be a huge company, so there is a care of the customer I haven't seen in many other hosting services. Located in England, which is nice for European customers. Nice support and billing system.

Have been using Ancile for several months now and have been very pleased with the array of features offered, the cost of the services and the quality of support being offered. I've recommended this hosting company to several friends an colleagues. All those who have moved to ancile have formed pretty much the same opinion as myself.

I came across Ancile Hosting on uk.tophosts.com whilst i was browsing for a new host, admittedly I was sceptical at their rather cheap prices, but to my delight I have had no problems whatsoever with my account or my emails.
Top Job Guys.
