Had the 400 carbine for about 4 months, although powerful, pellet accuracy tends to wander the more you use it. First 20 shots start low, working through exact acuracy, and about 40 shots in its starts shooting above POI. Any thoughts? Is my spring c--p, and only gets better as it warms up? Any advice from anyone would be good as it is anoying, thought it was me at first, so kept zeroing sights-----

Very nice gun, try different pellets though, found ACU Pellets a little tight and tend to drop quite a few shots. WASP seem good though, again nice gun for money Carbine works well although still get spring noise. Still powerful gun, punches through tins 20m +. Good hunter that does not need charging.

The Cometa Fenix 400 .22 is a cheap air rifle, good finish, dead accurate even at 50m - 80m. I had some problems at first with my spring so I had it replesed. I fitted a bushnell 3-9 -56 scope- this scope is made to go to real hunting rifles.I use it for hunting crows, megpies, ducks, rats, rabbits and even foxes!!!Becouse I live in Slovenia we have no limit to how poferful the air rifle can be, so my cometa air rifle is producing about 24 ft lbs ( 32 joules) of energy with 14 grain amunition. I ...

Bought my Cometa Fenix 400 .22 about a month ago and think its a very good springer for the price. I found the best pellets were RWS superfield 22. once handling is correct with this rifle, pellet on pellet is not uncommon at 30 yrds. Good finish, very accurate and cheap.

I bought the .22 version Cometa 400S 12ft/lb model from the local shop for Xmas 2008. I fitted it with an Optiks 3-12x 50 OE telescopic sight on a Webley one piece mount. The whole lot including the case and cleaning kit was £200. Zeroing was relatively stressless and once run in and the dieseling had stopped, the accuracy with both Eley dome heads and Webley hunting pellets was quite good. I zeroed it to 25 metres and was able to achieve a new 10p group with ease. I have now fired about ...

Having spent a few years out of shooting i decided to take it up again . I have always had the better known makes Webley, Weihrauch, Air arms i thought i might go for a BSA lightning XL but after a bit of research and a bit of advice from my local gun shop i gave the Cometa fenix 400s a go its just as good as the BSA don't let the lower price tag put you off. I have been shooting for nearly 30 years and this gun is just as good as some of the better known makes.

I've recently bought my cometa fenix 400-s carbine after much home work and thought, and when you way up the price of some of these air rifles today, what with bottles and everything.the cometa just had to come out on top.it's a top gun lads, take it from me. and also worth evrey penney... you also dont need to go back home from your great day's hunting trip, just to fill it up before you can carry on enjoying yourself.

Cometa Fenix 400 is a beautiful gun. Go buy one. Very powerful! I haven't got a confirmed kill yet (my hunting buddy threw a dead fox at me while i was lining up for a head shot on a rabbit, ended up hitting it in the lower spine, i think, and it got away... i definitely remember seeing a lot of damaged tissue as it rolled back down the hole!) Anyway, it's a great gun and with a one piece mount and good scope it is very accurate and capabe!

Excellent gun very accurate and consistently powerfull, if you want to make it harder hitting put a motorbike wheel spacer in with the spring easy to do if you have a mate help push down on the barrel. i shot a pigeon in the back of the head at 20m and it pushed its eye out of the socket along with half it brain

After hearing all the good things about this cometa fenix 400 in .22. I purchased mine while ago mainly for hunting.
Cometa fenix 400 .22 is probably the only few rifles that actually can do better then their factory claims. this rifle is doing 825+ fps with RWS superdoom (14.3 gr) .
The accuracy is very good, in 15 meters, shooting into one hole is easy.

Very well balanced, i also fit ultrafire touch onto the scope and sling that make night hunt for possum every easy. love this rifle.

    If ...

This is a very powerful gun, and therefore closing the spring requires some effort.
Th sights are more than adequate, but for those who prefer a scope, there are mounting grooves. Some pellet selection may improve accuracy, but this is usually a personal preference.

Benchrest accuracy with Nikko Stirling AirKing 3-9x42 scope and Gamo Pro magnum .22 pellets, gives 5 shot grouping of about 10 mm diameter per 10 metres. That is, 10mm group at 10 m

It looks great - what a finish!

The Cometa Fenix 400 .22 is an excellent air rifle, and at 18 ft lbs, a rabbit doesn't stand a chance!!

The Cometa 400 was a surprise birthday present last year. Two days later I added a Luger 4X32 scope and I think the setup is great. I suppose like all springers you have to learn how to hold it 'just right'. For me this means balancing it in my open left hand and just resting it gently against my shoulder.
In terms of accuracy its very good. Apart from the usual paper targets I've moved from using gambling chips, to beer bottle tops and now small beads which I can hit 3 out of 4 whilst squattin ...
