Good Points: Bright L.E.D when you come up to a speed camera, you can switch off accident hot spots as an option and Road Angel has a built in front and rear laser detector.
Bad Points: The Road Angel database is very poor, also the Road Angel doesn't display the road speed limit for each camera you approach.
General comments: I first bought a Road Angel 3 years ago but I found the database not picking up cameras even though I'd updated the Road Angel a few days earlier, after my free 6 month subscription ran out I bought a Snooper camera detector that had all the cameras in the system and when a new camera goes up snooper always updated it within a week of a camera being up, however I recently dropped my snooper and I broken it, so as I already had a Road Angel I bought a 2 year subscription costing £79 and I downloaded all the cameras onto the Road Angel, however whilst it picked up most off the cameras there were 3 cameras around the Manchester area that had all been there 12-18 months but they were in my snooper within only a week of each of the cameras going up, I will be trying to get my £79 subscription money back from Road Angel and buying a replacement snooper as they have a far better database, and at only £99 for a snooper unit which displays the speed limit for each speed camera you drive up too, snooper gives you full uk and all European speed cameras unlike Road Angel that only cover uk.

I bought this for myself and a Snooper Syrius for a present and found that the Syrius for £50 more wiped the floor with the Road Angel plus. Its camera and blackspot detection were far more accurate than the extremely disappointing Road Angel. The voice and sounds on the Road Angel are annoying. Due to the complex nature of storing your own blackspot information, the unit hardly ever gets accurate updates via the web. Do not buy this flimsy unit. Most sat navs do more than this now.

Expensive tool - that does not do all that is claimed by the manufacturer.
(Never detected a mobile unit - 30k miles and passed several camera vans, tax vans, and 2 hand held units).
It can help keep your license, but I can not rely on it as I had hoped.

Great as a reminder not to go too fast and great for static cameras. Do not believe that it picks up mobile units - in 2 years I've either been very lucky that they choose not to point at my car or it doesn't work. I know which I choose to believe.
I can no longer get a power lead for the Road Angel GPS speed camera detector without paying extra money, even though not one of them has lasted 12 months! The annual premium is not refundable either, despite there being 6 months left on a unit ...

The magnetic base on which the Road Angel sits is too weak to hold the set in place firmly and you find yourself constantly readjusting it. The screen keeps reminding you to update even when you have done and this can be a distraction when driving. The updates available on line are not recent enough to capture new installation cameras - particularly at road works etc. All the information available on Road angel can be loaded on to the better versions of sat nav with better screen, more functions ...

I upgraded from my classic Road Angel, which I had for a number of years. This unit works extremely well, and I'm glad I went for the Road Angel 2. This was all due to the very honest advice I received from speed detectors UK, who really seemed to know their stuff. Their site I think is: http://www.speed-detectors.co.uk.
I'm very happy with the unit, and I would definitely say to other people to buy one, if only to stop Tony Blair getting all our hard earned money from the cameras in the UK. ...

I used to work in the trade and sold all the various GPS detectors and this Road Angel GPS Speed Camera Detector is the one I chose personally. Compared to the Snooper equivalent, it works better, is more reliable, has more features and is cheaper to buy and update. It's only been wrong occasionally and these have always been warnings of cameras that are no longer there or of ones on side roads running parallel to me. All the competitors do the last one, so must be unavoidable! The only prob ...

This Road Angel is the only GPS Speed Camera Detectors I've owned so I can't really compare it to anything else. But it works as it was supposed to, you get plenty of warning for cameras, schools, congestion charge zones and blackspots, plus you can configure the settings to all sorts of levels - LEDs, distance, sounds etc.
It's really helped me slow myself down (9 points already)and I've found myself driving a little better because of it. I used to go a little over the speed limit on cameras ...
