Good Points: Free For Basic Service.
Bad Points: Awful service - full of technical glitches and very unhelpful customer service. Quite often the service is unavailable or unreliable.
General comments: I would not advise anyone to trust important emails to this service. A year ago they deleted all the mail I had saved in my in-box and despite much correspondence never even apologised. Now I am unable to forward email or print it and they don't respond to technical support requests. I'm taking my custom elsewhere.

I upgraded to a hosting package over the net, really only because I wanted to use the professional photo gallery. I spent an age trying to make it work and I'm pretty tech savy so knew I was doing things correctly. LYCOS what can I say about them, well in my experience and opinion... -
- Overpriced
- Unhelpful customers support
- Unhelpful technical support
- Lack of customer focus
- Pathetic "one click" packages that are open to hacking
- A very bad hosting company
- Webftp that rarely works
- Ancient control panel
Right that is for starters, now to explain, you pay for a domain (standard rate) then a hosting package for that one domain, so for one .com on an annual basis could cost in excess of £ ...

Well I have previously been with Lycos and with no problems!
This time I get a account with them for just web space but they took 7 days to get it up (they state 2 days) and it's not even fully working.
So I scratched that idea and went with getting the whole bundle with them - domain name and webspace. I'm still waiting(been 9 days) I called them up and they have no idea on the progress of getting the domain name and its nowhere purchasing the domain name for me as I've checked for mysel ...

Oh am I glad I have found somewhere to vent my complete disappointment with Lycos.
If you are a UK base company do not host with Lycos.co.uk at whatever cost their servers are not based in the UK and therefore google will not class submit in google.co.uk
If you want to host a wordpress blog with Lycos again do not you cannot activate pretty links (key to search engines)
Thirdly they will not admit blame, I just wish someone warned me I am now looking to change desperately

The Lycos web site has been down for days. I am travelling and cannot access any emails from home. Where are we meant to find any information? This is disgusting!
