I have always shopped at lidl as i come from the continent, however at Lidl High Wycombe the security guard is very rude always staring and even follows me . It makes me feel very uncomfortable and for that reason i now avoid this shop. also one or two of the staff at the till can be quite disrespectuous. I will now shop in an English supermarket where quality is higher at most levels. really a shame i have to write this , as Lidl does not deserve a bad name. (read more)

Shopped in Penzance Lidl store at least twice a week since it first opened. Today a member of it's staff made me feel very uncomfortable with his rude and abrupt approach, certainly not in keeping with Lidl's own ' our employees philosophy'. Firstly, he announced very loudly "bring your trolley round here",which I did. When I asked why, he said " we've got to make sure you've not got anything in your trolley before you start loading ( staff usually just look over their tills as you start... (read more)

Today I went to the Lidl in Dalry Road and wanted to refund an item (hand mixer) that was not working properly. So I went up to the casher and told the cashier that I wanted a refund. He said that I could not return the item and had the worst attitude I have ever seen. It was almost like racism. I politely asked him for his name so I could report him but he would not give me it so I tried to take a picture of him to show the manager there since there was no other way. The cashier grabbed my... (read more)

If you buy clothing in Lidls, bring your tape measure. Their size labels seem to be a suggestion rather than reality. Have bought pants, sized 16 that were actually sized 10. Don't lose the receipt. I have been to a number of Lidl's because I live in Cardiff. The one I consider my local (Colchester avenue) is the one I am going to base my review on. Somebody initially recommended them to me and I started shopping with them around 3 or 4 years ago. I absolutely swear by them now. I also think if I lived somewhere remotely (as I used to) I would be more than happy to have a Lidl's there. If things were so unappealing, why did you find yourself at the checkout buying anything?
Lidl is cheap because it's a 'no frills' place. They actually stock better quality fruit and veg than the other supermarkets and it is checked meticulously, countless times per day.
The staff work very long hours (at least 50) doing all manner of jobs including unloading deliveries of goods, keeping the shelves stocked, serving customers, dealing with enquiries, making orders and completing paperwork. When they are on tills they have to scan 35 items per minute, because that is what's expected by the bosses....or, no job. If you want a shop with lots of staff, a higher mark-up and a chit-chat, I suggest Waitrose. I am not a Lidl employee, but I have an in depth knowledge of what it is to be one. Plenty of stick and few carrots. If you want to keep Lidl, you have to treat it differently to the experiences you will get at Asda etc.

New Malden Lidl Store Review. Prices aren't too bad, but expect a near zero rating for customer service at the check out. This is the store's biggest problem and is standard procedure for all staff. Lidl is legendary for its poor customer service at the till, known as 'Check Out and Throw Out.' Anyone who is buying more than a few items will end up in trouble for many reasons. You're meant to put your items back in your trolley and pack your groceries on the shelf located along the wall.
Bringing your own bag or spending a few pence on one if it's not a planned shop isn't a big deal and helps on waste. All shops should do this. It's 2012 not 1978.
