We went on Holiday to Pontins and had such a bad experience so we sent them a complaint letter. I waiting over 30 days to receive a letter back from them giving us 10% off our next visit to you. This is not acceptable and we will defiantly not be returning to this holiday park, we wanted a full refund and if you were to read the letter below I feel that our bad experience would defiantly warrant a full refund. Took ages to find chalet but when we did, we were horrified. Dirty smelly cramped two beds given for four of us. Electric tokens given £10 worth?? Why, are we not worthy of having electric. We have been to Camber sands for the last three years and booked to go again next year. Yes the place could do with a lick of paint and yes all the rooms could be decorated but touch wood we have always had a good room with no smells no stains and everything working.
The entertainment is good and the childen enjoy it very much. OK to buy food is a little pricey but if you are self catering take your own food with you that way you havent got to pay for much.

Good - the general facilities. Bars, club rooms, playgounds, pool and entertainment were all of a reasonable standard.
Bad - the accomodation. Mouldy, smelly, rundown. It took 24 hours for our chalet to be visited after we reported a cheesy smell from what turned out to be a putrid filter on the back of the fridge. A good thing we were in when they called too, as the two girls they sent were merely going to spray Fabreze everywhere.

Based on all the reviews I read before the trip, we nearly didn't turn up for our Sun booked weekend.
However, although the place is clearly dated,a bit run down and in need of some refurbishment, we certainly didn't find it the hell hole that many others seem to have.
Our main concern for us and our nearly 5 year old son was the hygiene of the chalet, but even though ours was a budget one, it was clean enough inside, and we felt comfortable using the cooker and fridge etc.

I used to work at Camber Sands on accommodation. It was quite some time ago however, I doubt things have changed much. The accommodation team did try their best but we were given too many apartments and not enough time. When the management was approached about this we were told to stop complaining. The staff are overworked and under paid is it any wonder that the customer service is terrible. On top of that we received no training. When I left I filled in an exit interview form which I was supposed to give to my line manager, I instead gave it to the services managers secretary, I thought things would get done that way. I found out about two days later from my friend who still works there that it had never been shown to the services manager.

We've just come back from a weekend at Camber, NEVER AGAIN!!!!!! The sofa bed and bedding smelt. As soon as we went into the chalet the smell made us heave. We complained and the sofa was swapped but the split bedding and dirty pillows still smelt awful. The cooking utensils and the cutlery looked as though they had never seen a washing up bowl. The whole chalet needed a good spring clean and refit. It was a classic chalet. First impressions of the site were "what a dump" and our opinion never changed. The site was scarily filthy we were too scared to let the children go near the swimming pool. There was nothing to keep the children properly occupied apart from PGL which was £5 a session. The postman pat show was advertised as being really great all it was was pat standing on the stage doing nothing. The whole weekend was awful if it weren't for the great beach and weather we would have come home Saturday morning.
