We stayed at Pontins Southport for a four night break over half term. Like quite a few people, after reading the reviews, we were very nervous about what our accommodation would be like (we booked a budget two bedroom apartment) and was dreading finding some of the horror apartments we read in the reviews. However, we were pleasantly surprised ~ although, our accommodation was basic, which is what we expected, the beds were in excellent condition (even the sofabed) and the apartment was clean and tidy with a good shower/bath and an oven and fridge that worked!
We only went to the club a couple of times in the evening as we spent a couple of evenings in Blackpool seeing the illuminations, but on the occasions we did, the entertainment was good and the drinks/food were reasonable.
The staff all seemed very friendly and helpful and the bluecoats still seemed quite upbeat for so late in the Season!
It's a very big site, it must be able to take about 3,000 at full capacity. There is a lovely beach a few minutes walk away, so it would be lovely in the summer.
I also heard someone say that Pontins are going to spend lots of money on refurbishing their sites, so the awful apartments might be nice in the future.
If we ever holiday in the North West again, we would definitely consider Pontins Southport as one of our options.

Was so worried about going after reading all the reviews. But we stayed there for a week and had a fantastic time. The entertainment was first class. Blue coats are tremendous and do a fab job. Facilities are basic but for what you are paying what do you expect. After reading about the cleanliness, I tood big box of cleaning products which I didn't use as the accommodation was sportless. Enjoyed so much are staying there again next year. At the end of the day you only get from a holida ...- Read Guest's review (96 words)

My wife had already booked a long weekend for us (me, wife our 5 year old son and my mum)at Pontins, Southport before I read the reviews. After reading some of them I almost cancelled. Rather than lose our money we went (30th Oct to 2nd Nov) and I am glad we did. We stayed in the Classic appartments which are one above the basic ones but not the most expensive ones. The rooms were clean, the beds were fine. Yes, the camp is dated and needs modernising but the accommodation was fine and the enter ...- Read Guest's review (136 words)

Just come back from Pontins Southport Oct 09. Was better than I expected after reading all the bad reviews on here. I agree the place needs a massive face lift, but its not as bad as people are making out on here. After reading all the reviews I was that concerned I rang pontins and nearly cancelled my booking, well I'm glad I didn't. The Accomodation was very very basic, but clean, you have no privacy so you need to keep your curtains closed, don't go expecting the 'ritz' because its far far fr ...- Read Guest's review (211 words)

My family and i went to pontins southport for a little
break and we were all disgusted with the state of the place!!!
It was like one big prison camp and there was no privacy everyone could see into ur bedroom and living room/bedroom! To get a little privacy you had to close all your curtins! We arrived there and 20 minutes later we had left!! The place was full of smokers and rough looking people. This place should be shut down!- Read Guest's review (82 words)

What an absolute hell hole of a place. No wonder the Pontins at Blackpool has closed due to falling numbers, more likely due to falling buildings etc. We were due to stay for 3 nights but as we checked in on friday evening, it was touch and go if we would stay one night! The whole site is a dump and in desperate need of upgrading. Our chalet had a hole in the door, holes in walls, dirty marks all over walls, no carpet in 'living' room area, the bunk beds wernt safe enough for my 3 yr old to ...- Read deej4706's review (174 words)

I took my children (10 months,6, 12, & 18) to pontins southport and we all had such a fantastic time, we went back 2 weeks later for a second holiday. Yes the budget appartments are hardly the ritz but we didn't book the ritz! we wanted a cheap british holiday in the current financial climate with entertainment day and night plus local attractions and beautiful beaches and thats exactlly what we got.The bluecoat shows were amazing and the reps were friendly and helpful. I'd recommend pontins ho ...- Read Guest's review (90 words)

I was disgusted to find what was in store for us at Southport Pontins....what a DUMP!!! We stayed for an hour then asked for a refund and went to LIverpool for the night as we'd already travelled too far to head back home but there was no way we were staying there for the night neva mind the whole weekend!!
I can't believe people are saying 'you get what you pay for' with Pontins...for them to sell this holiday to people is completely unjust. I wouldn't have this given for free! The room wasn ...- Read Guest's review (181 words)

The Pontins, Southport resort resembles a POW camp, and people are herded into disgusting chalets with random car parking. The booking in procedure resembles that of a chaotic jumble sale. The rooms are filty and disgusting, and the whole place needs a bulldozer to drive it back into the sea. If I could give no stars in this review I would.- Read Guest's review (61 words)

I don't care how cheap it costs, no one should have to suffer Pontins, Southport. Prisoners get better accommodation - they seem to get better food than NHS patients as well!. The "Shameless" estate is the Ritz compared to this dump.
It beggars belief that in a Western country like this, there are hotels like this still standing? What on earth do inspectors make of the place when they come for a visit? The carpet was black. The rooms were filthy. Mould on the curtains. Paintwork falling apart. ...- Read Guest's review (159 words)

we have just got back from pontins southport, after reading all the bad reviews was very nervous at what we would find, when we got there we was pleasantly surprised, the shalley was very basic but clean, you get what you pay for. There was only one reastaurant which was small but we fund the food very nice, but i think they was very short staffed as we had to wait 45mins for our deserts. My children aged 10 and 7 enjoyed there stay alot and want to go back again. We found the blue coats very en ...- Read Guest's review (98 words)

just got back from pontins southport a day early as we could take no more of the squalid disgusting conditions and the common people that were there! the club stunk of urine, the food was awful, you had to pay 2 ponud just to go on a slide, nothing was free for the kids apart from a scruffy football pitch! all the wallpaper was ripped in the chalet, the carpet was black, the bathroom was mouldy. unless you live on a shameless council estate DO NOT visit this hell hole!- Read Guest's review (89 words)
