“This is the third time I have been to Pontins,...”

★★★☆☆

written by on 04/10/2009

This is the third time I have been to Pontins, Blackpool - I'm sorry the camp is now closing.
The check-in is a bit chaotic - there were two areas to book in "A to L" and "M to Z" - but this was not obvious to people queueing out the door and we wasted 15 mins before we realised this.
The accommodation is basic and the whole camp looks a bit down at heel.
The entertainment at night was good and the Restaurant meals were very good - as they have been on each of my visits.
And of course it is a good base from which to explore Blackpool.

We had a great time last weekend at Pontins, Blackpool. We stayed in club chalets, basic but spotless. Fresh white towels and fresh bedding lovely. Good food in the canteen, friendly staff, the bluecoats very entertaining and great cabaret. We read the reviews before we went too but gave it a chance and our children loved it at Pontins. So remember its not a 5 star hotel but a good old fashioned british holiday!!!! Its a shame its so old because looks are deceiving.

written by celtic footie on 19/07/2009

ive just spent a week half board at southport pontins which was dire compared to blackpools pontins, we went to pontins blackpool half board 5 days at easter cost £200 there were 4 of us and we got 2 rooms that were ajoining, ok, the park was a bit desolate but most fowk go into blackpool during the day anyway, rooms were clean and not metered (like southport)but best of all was the food ,my god you can have anything at all they have the lot, both breakfast and evening meals were fab ,ma kids loved the buffet queen vic pub is lovely for a nice drink and play darts it was relaxing. clubrooms were busy with average intertainment but overall it was good value for money weid definately go back, oh we did have ants but the guy came within 5 mins and put powder down, not the end of the world

“Have just returned from a Pontins holiday gold break...”

★★★★☆

written by phoole on 26/10/2008

Have just returned from a Pontins holiday gold break and thought it was great. We did upgrade from a basic to club chalet the first chalet being a bit cramped with having bunk beds in as well as the double bed. We found the food great and the dining room staff very friendly. The airport is close by but not as noisy as people said it was. The bus stop is right outside the main gate, a bus every 15 mins and the same back to the camp. We will visit again next year just hope the weather is better.

Have just come back from Pontins Blackpool loved the food and the entertainment but accomodation was horrible, smelly carpet and black mould on the windows, found staff helpful. Whole place could do with updating, accomodation needs a deep clean. When you first arrive you think what am I doing here but after sorting out complaints and as the holiday progressed you start to enjoy the food and the holiday atmosphere. Myself I would definitely go back as the people and the food make up for the horrible accomodation but I think I would try club accomodation next time.

“On arriving at Pontins the outside is run down,...”

★★★☆☆

written by lynnethompson on 23/08/2008

On arriving at Pontins the outside is run down, unloved and in general need of a tidy-up. We were asked to check-in at "Stardust" and did not have any idea where it was and there was no-one available to direct us, as the queue at reception was really long. We followed the crowd and eventually stumbled upon it. Everything on the site needs updating. The equipment used during the day entertainment, ie go karts are old. The tennis court was flooded and therefore unable to use. The swimming pool, although clean, is basic. My children were disappointed that it didn't have a slide. There is a kettle and cups in the chalet but without any coffee/tea/milk on the tray. We had to buy our own. Overall I rate the holiday a 6/10 mainly for the food which is wonderful. If nothing else, we certainly had plenty to eat and it was delicious.

“We arrived at 2 and, were welcomed by the Bluecoats...”

★★★★☆

written by beckylh92 on 26/08/2006

We arrived at 2 and, were welcomed by the Bluecoats providing children's entertainment, firstly, we decided to look round, as we had another 2 hours till check in. We looked round The Queen Victoria Pub, the arcade, and Stardust, in Stardust were Bluecoats, singing on stage. Next we decided to look in the leisure zone, there were about 5 snooker tables, and behind the desk was a timetable, listing all the children's activities on offer, and the time they were on, all the activities were free. There were also a few shops around, Londis, providing basics and not much value, Fashion Spot, which was a game of spot, the fashion! Many of the clothes on offer were for older ladies, and a few of the items were Bench or Elle, but there were only a few. Also there was Snappys, where you could buy photos taken on camp, and other photography needs. Just past the main gates was Hire Time, where you could hire bikes, skates trikes, and pedal bikes, that looked like quads, but be warned, most things require a £5 deposit, as well as the hire charge (on a list on the door) Next to Stardust bar was Tricks and Treats, a very small shop, mainly filled with merchandise. We tried out the crazy golf, nothing to get excited about, especially because the holes had mud and water in, so you had to put your foot on them, so the ball would not go in properly. When it came to checking in, the staff at reception, were friendly, and gave us a room key, and showed us directions, on a map, which we were allowed to keep. The chalet was a classic and was very small it also smelled musty. At 11 0 clock, we decided to go to bed, but we couldn't get to sleep because of noisy neighbours, who settled at about 1 am, and then were up again at 6am. After a second night of this, we spoke to the retail manager, who explained that there was a large conference on, he offered us a room swap, which we accepted, and also 25 pontins pounds, which could only be spent on site (not in fashion spot however) and then proceeded to give us a free holiday voucher, redeemable for 12 months. Overall, after our room swap, we were quite happy, there wasn't much to do on camp, but Blackpool, is 5 minutes away, so that was good. The food was nice, always hot and a variety.
We will visit again
