had 4 night in a chalet through the daily mail offer ,it was basic ,but warm and clean ,the food was good that we had ,staff friendly ,we had a wonderful time ,saw culzean castle ,burns park and brigadoon ,the village of dunure was beatiful with the harbour and views of craig ailsa ,had a lovely lunch in the pub there .the beach was very rocky and full of sea weed ,so perhaps not good for young children ,there is a bus to ayr every hour if you dont want to use the car ,a big sea front there .overall ,a brilliant holiday.

Went to Craig Tara last weekend. Booked from a deal in the newspaper. After reading a lot of bad reviews, we upgraded our caravan to what I think was a Prestige. So glad we did, the caravan was lovely - modern, warm, clean and comfortable with a veranda overlooking the sea.

The pool was quite good fun but the pools on lower levels are a bit on the cold side.

Night entertainment was great but drink is expensive.

Kids went to roller disco and archery, which they enjoyed.

    Found all the s ...

I went with my daughter age 9 and son age 2 half board for 4 nights to Craig Tara Ayr. The accommodation was clean but very basic and very cold, two small heaters that don,t give out much heat. The swimming pool was fantastic great time there.
The food was poor and the kids didn,t even eat the chips.Other food outlets were fine though. The go-carts cost £5 for 4 mins, climbing wall £4.50 and the caterpillar ride £1.75 for 1 min all were timed with stop watches.
    The shows at nig ...

I booked a superior plus caravan for 4nights at Craig Tara which cost £237.00. The caravan i was offered was disgusting. Windows filthy inside and out. Covered in seagulls droppings. Carpet was soaking wet. Curtains were hanging off windows,no blinds or nets.seating areas were absolutely filthy and threadbare.Toilet stank of urine. Surfaces in kitchen and cooker had not been cleaned. I complained and was offered another caravan which was slightly better but not by very much. If this is an ...

    Criag Tara - Ayr. 29 - 31st August, 2009

I have just returned from Craig Tara after a two night stay with my family (2 adults and 3 children). Value for money was brilliant. We only paid £120 for two nights for five of us. Food was good if a bit overpriced. The park was beautiful - very clean and the pool was fantastic. Our caravan could have been cleaned a bit better - everything had a sticky feel to it as if they had used one cloth and not washed it out all day - but hey you can ...

Just back from Craig Tara - from the very beginning an unprofessional approach to meeting people. Was kept waiting in a long frustrating que with disgruntle people. Could not believe the prices - bingo £14 I thought children were not allowed where gambling was taking place - illegal and should lose their license. Above all was offered three times a half glass tumbler for my red wine - no wine glasses the full five days we were there. Only consolation we had a sea view.

I have just arrived home from a cheap sun holidays 4 day break to Craig Tara, after reading all the bad reviews i was a bit disheartened about going, but overall me and my daughter had a lovely stay. We had a 3 bed standard caravan, ok it wasnt cleaned to my standards but fine for basic accommodation. Fun stars were great, lots of good shows, didnt try the food as went self catering, lots of activites for children, multi level swimming pool was good aswell we spent the whole afternoon there on ...

I had high expectations of Haven Holidays, Craig Tara but was utterly disappointed. Worst food I have ever had and I paid obnoxious prices for it. The accommodation was very basic and we all stank as if we were chain smokers after spending two nights there. Would not recommend it to anyone.

We recently returned from our holiday at Craig Tara and was exceptionally pleased with the clean and well maintained caravan accommodation, the cleanliness of the site, its facilities, the surrounding areas and the helpfulness of all the staff that we came in contact with. The only downside to this park is the relatively high prices that are charged in the entertainment complex, bars, shops and fast food outlets, although this was of no surprise and should be expected. Overall a holiday is of yo ...

In an age where value for money is a priority and the English and Scottish tourist boards spend millions of pounds a year asking us to holiday at home, you would expect Haven would give visitors to it's site a helping hand, a place to feel comfortable, good entertainment, good food, opening times of facilities to suit the people who matter, i.e the guests, but no.

What Haven give you is a money making, no frills exercise in utter greed, shabby management, disgraceful cleanliness, utter disdain ...

We have just come back from a weeks holiday at the haven Craig Tara site in Ayr, Scotland. Driving up to Scotland from Devon we were dreading arriving at Craig tara due to the reviews we read beforehand about this particular site. As it is August and one of their busiest times we were pleasantly surprised, the staff on arrival were very helpful, the caravan was ready for us on arrival, and was clean and tidy, and the staff explained how all the kids clubs and entertainment worked. Our 8 year old ...

Turned up at the site after booking the best caravan available "Prestige 3 bedroom". What we got was a two bed caravan that was not to a standard I would expect for a "Prestige" holiday home. The place stank of stale cigarettes, TV didn't work and was only a two bed unit. We spoke with reception who claimed there were no three bed prestige units available, strange that the booking form from 8 months previous confirmed us in one. We were offered the chance to view a 3 bed Superior Plus caravan of ...

what a dissapointment, this park is supposed to be the flagship of Haven's parks in Scotland, yes there was more to do than in most caravan sites, but get real your paying through the nose for it. Also if you feel like eating out do yourself a favour and eat out, right out ie leave the site. the meals were over priced and disgusting the cheapest of the cheap products being used, there is no doubt they take advantage of a captive audience. I would say £2.70 for a pint of lager is a little ov ...

My family booked 2 caravans in Craig Tara for the week starting 20.6.09. Caravans pretty good. The site itself was fine and the entertainment was very good. However, the caravan we stayed in had a seagull's nest on the roof. The seagulls were very noisey - 24/7. So if you would like a peaceful night's sleep I wouldn't recommend. Dogs are allowed onto the site which is fine by us,however, some owners not taking resonsbility to clean up after them, hence dog's dirt on the beach!! Location of p ...

We just came back today after a week long holiday. It ws fantastic. weve been going to haven centres for 8 years now and you have to bear in mind these places get a hamering and this site is brilliant. The chalet we had was in brigadoon its our 3rd year t Craig Tara and the staff and funstars were excellent, nothing was a bother to them, couldnt be more helpful except for the security staff.
