After reading many negative reviews on here we were a little worried about what we would find at Craig Tara!! We stayed half board the apartment was fine not the poshest of rooms but we didn't pay posh prices. The food was good and plenty of it! All staff on the camp were friendly,cheerful and happy to help! Just back from an amazing week in Craig Tara On arrival to the park 2hours before check-in opened we where greeted with friendly staff at reception who gave us out park passes to enjoy the facilities in the park until our caravan was ready. We stayed in a delux caravan in Aran view and it was out of this world very clean and the view was outstanding. This guests experience is indicative of the attrocious accommodation, and disgraceful attitudes towards customer service offered by Haven, and their staff at Craig Tara. I reitirate the advice " DON'T GO"!!!

i dont work there but i do holiday there 2 times a year and some of what you have said is rather ott to say the least any accommadation which is infested with ants is taken out of use until it is cleaned if you only payed for a standard caravan thats what you will get some people expect the ritz well you wont get that there your review is like most of them on here more than likely from people who booked through some news paper promotion and want top grade accommadation at cheap as chips prices.

Ayr75, if you care to read my own review again you will note, I did not take a £9.50 holiday!!! I paid a ridiculous amount for the attrocious conditioned "platinum" level caravan. Best on site I believe!!! Anything else stated in my review is completely true and accurate, as experienced.
The only thing that is off is the arrogance of haven in treating customers in this manner, and refusing to address any complaints. Realistically, nobody expects the Ritz at a holiday camp, and I'm pleased that this overpriced, rundown, filthy site and its disgracefull ACCOMODATION satisfies your exacting standards!!! However some of us expect jist a little bit more for our hard earned money!!!

as you might or might not know from next year craig tara will no longer offer halfboard holidays as a result of this the turnberry gardens building is set to be demolished at the end of this season .i feel that haven are making a big mistake in doing this as lots of people use the turnberry gardens restaurant.as yet haven have not said what wiil replace the building. but i would not be at all surprised if the area was used for yet more caravans its all very well adding more caravans. but... i just arrived home from a monday to friday half board holiday at craig tara with my girls we had a real good time. we paid around £270 that was for 4 people meals were good, staff worked real hard to look after us during our stay, accommodation was ok. we visited the heads of ayr farm park a must see, we also went into ayr town center,i think this was our 4th visit to craig tara my only advise is GO HALF BOARD it is not as expensive as you may think in fact i bet there was people there... I went to Craig Tara 2 Weeks ago after being there in the past. I thought that the park may have changed over that time but there was not much difference from the previous year. We had to wait in a very large cue to get our keys,passes and a camp Map. i dont know where u get the idea the live lounge wasnt finished on the 25 march i am a owner and on the 12 of march it was unvieled to all owners the place was spotless and everything i saw was top shape my husband and i would be the first to complain if anything wasnt up to standard i think people on this site just like to moan also i used to clean in craig tara and all cleaners work to a checklist and the vans are checked before anyone gets the keys (read more)

just back today and all the staff could not have been more helpful i agree i think people just like to moan. i have been here 3 times and my caravan has always been spotless and i would be very fussy as i suffer from ocd. its got lovely views i would recommend that you go and give it a try for yourself. the only thing i can say is that there is not much entainment on site but this could be because i go in end of june and not peak season. the fun stars are great way the kids esp dan, rem a hoilday is what you make it. i hope this helps

Just back from Craig tara and we all loved it so much that we have booked up to go back again ! The park is excellent plenty to do, there's a big park that the kids could spend hours in , next to that there's the fun fair which could be quite expensive 2.00 per ride however the trampolines and bouncy castle where free, then next to that there's go karting which my sister and man had a fab time on these cost 5.00 and last about 5 mins (really fast) straight ahead from that there's a boat pond... be aware of scams by private owners
we had a lovely time till it was time to leave the owner said the caravan was good but her husband swore in front of our children saying that his plastic box was broken and a plastic seat was broke too ,we should have checked the box but the seat i cant explain how it got broke,but we was made to pay on the spot, i say the box was broke already, so (name removed) i think you scammed us u know them box was broke before we came no wonder your husband was standing guard over them when we first arrived

I read this site before going to Craig Tara and wondered what would face us after a long journey north! I was pleasantly surprised by the great experience we all enjoyed at Craig Tara :o) The caravan was spacious and in an ideal location, only a couple of issues with the cleaniness of the caravan, but nothing major and sorted quickly. We were given wrong accomodation for disabled! caravan was filthy!, we were put into a 2nd caravan at 9pm at night on a friday and PUT OUT on monday morning as we had to move, 3rd caravan we were given stunk of body scum,grease and cigarette smoke, all camp in darkness and also had to suffer trauma of a family member being left traumatised by a young man banging on caravan for help just before 10pm the night before we moved, as he said someone was trying to stab him.This was brushed under... Accommodation - Was fantastic, I was there with my wife and two kids and we had more than enough room in the caravan. It was clean and well maintained.
Park - Swimming pool was good enough for the kids etc, but as a spectator - the area where you have to sit was poorly kept and there was a constant leaking from various parts of the ceiling.
Night/Day time shows - These were great for the kids and lets face it, that's who you are there for. The panto was fab!

Dirty caravan on arrival, broken blinds, equipment missing or broken. This was in a luxury plus van too. Beach untidy with litter, staff unfriendly.
This is not a four star site, I would give 3 star. The music in the showbar was far too loud, the speakers were buzzing, so did not visit. Food was awful whereever ate. Very dissapointing.

Just back from 5 days at Craig Tara and despite what I read prior to going, the family had a great time. Check in was quick and the staff were very friendly. We stayed in Alloway village which was 3 mins walk from the main complex. There was plenty to do all week from the funfair during the day to entertainment in the evenings. Just got back from Craig Tara after spending 2 weeks in a prestige caravan.
Would not listen to all reviews on here as many are not true. Had an awesome 2 weeks, plenty to do on the park (which was very clean), and was only 1 hour from Glasgow and 2 hours from Edinburgh.
Would recommend to friends and family and planning on having another holiday there soon.
Would also recommend getting meal passes to breakfast and dinner and it saves time cooking and washing up. But does sometimes feel...

We originally booked a prestige caravan but had to take our dogs with us and had to stay in standard accomodation, our dogs (jack russells) were probably better behaved than previous occupents of the caravan! just back aswell today,9 august,it was awfull.the showers were a joke,huge queues but only 2/3 showers working! and changing room lights! it was dark in over half the rooms and my daughter split her cheek open.the people there were horrible,me and my 2 daughters who are 7 were walking back to our chalet,when this family walked past and the kid threw a handfull of grass and mud at my daughter! i expected the parents to apologise but no,they all started laughing and gave me filthy looks! it was also so expensive.it is full of neds.you can see my review up above where yours is posted.we wont be back.

Just back from craig tara on a half board basis in chalet ,when we arrived we were allocated chalet and went to see it we found it was already occupied,we went back to recepetion and we were given beautiful caravan and we had great holiday.Thank you staff for making our hols stress free and very enjoyable we will be back. i can honestly say the food hygene standards are second to none in the turnberry gardens resturant this park can do without clean freaks so your accommadation might be a little grubby but if you tell them they will come and clean it or give you diffrent accommadation after all your on holiday and who wants to cook thats why there are take away shops so stop moaning about things when you get home and complain when your there (read more)
