Having read some of the reviews on Haven Riviere Sands before we went away we were worried what we might find when we got there. Luckily we were pleasantly surprised to find a very nice holiday park. We arrived at around midday and were told that check in hadn't started yet which we know when we booked it and we were supposed to check in a 4pm but when we came back at 2.30pm our caravan was ready. Check in was very quick and easy and when we got to our caravan it was very modern, clean,... (read more)

i came home today from rivera sands THANK GOD. i have to say i was very disopointed by this haven site. having staid at peron sands i expected the same. i had four children with me 11,7,6, and 14mnts one of which is disabled. i booked a standard 3 bed caravan. ON arival i first noted that the site was very dated and small. i then went to check in. staff were very polite and helpfull i got my keys and proceded to my caravan. the van was not nice but the park was fully booked so i had to make... We are at Rivi re Sands now, preparing for our last evening on-site. Having read the reviews on here, we were a little concerned about the quality of holiday that we were about to have.
We needn't have worried. The camp is well presented. The staff are all friendly, although it takes a while to get used to their Cornish speed of working! The chippy is good, the food in the Bluff Inn is really good and the beer is good too. The entertainment do their best to do a good job without causing... (read more)

We have just returned from another short break at Riviere Sands, they have made loads of improvements for this year, the pool has been updates and looks great, new entertainment and more out side acts, they food at The Bluff has improved alot with the new menu,
During our stay we had a massive power cut, lasted about 6 hours til about 1am, not the fault of the park, a cable had come down but with in about 30 minutes they had the staff out knocking doors and explaining and checking on us all,... (read more)

Caravan was dirty on arrival although a note was left saying it had been cleaned.Great if you want to spend the first 45 minutes of your holiday cleaning.
The caravan left a lot to be desired since holidaying in October, you don't expect the weather to be great.
However there were missing window wedges on nearly all windows which meant that they could not be closed properly. When the wind got up the curtains were blowing all over the place and it was freezing cold.
The whole place needs a... (read more)

Absolutely disgusting to stay in Riviere Sands, Hayle. The "Exclusive" Caravan was "wonderfully" described on the website. A pack of lies. Disgusting and tacky. What a shame for such a beautiful location and county. Be truthful to the customer. Advertise truthfully. The Bluff Inn was absolutely disgusting. I had to give one star to each category because it is mandatory. Overall score is zero. Disgusting. (read more)

We booked our holiday a year ago(July 2009) at riviere Sands and after looking at all the options and the pictures of the caravans we chose the exclusive caravan because we were looking for something a bit special... Our first impressions were"WOW" the sea view was fanastic but the caravan was nothing like the pictures on the internet. The caravan was much smaller and the overall specification was nothing like we expected or was stated in the brochure.Looking back the lower graded caravans... Riviere Sands , Hayle Cornwall - Lasted Visited - March 19th - 22nd 2010
I have been to this park 3 times prev and i have enoyed every moment of it. Its got a lovely welcome from staff when you check in and bradley bear is always there to geeet the children when you arrive. On arrival there are always the possibilty of reduced upgrades on offer. The weekend we went donw the weather was awful and having a small child we decided to upgrade to a bigger caravan with heater in each bedroom.... (read more)

After booking almost a year in advance at a cost of £581 for the half term week in a prestige caravan, our entire family (taking up 4 caravans) were looking forward to a great break at Riviere Sands. First impressions can make or break a holiday and when you're greeted by the most miserable Receptionist I've ever encountered, it wasn't the best start. When the staff can't even be bothered to move from their desk and stop talking to their work colleague to welcome you when you've just... (read more)

We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children (aged 6 & 3). We were on a Sun newspaper break and stayed in a 3 bed static caravan. We're massive fans of St Ives and if you're looking for a cheapish way to visit then you won't go wrong. I have to say that I wasn't expecting miracles as we paid peanuts for a 3 night break at the beginning of the half term holidays. However I was very pleasently surprised. Our caravan was very nice, very clean and much bigger than I thought it would be. We... (read more)

Haven Riviere Sands was nothing but a dissapointment to me. After arriving at 9am from my 6 hour drive (missing all the day traffic) i called into reception to ask if there was any way i could get into my caravan any earlier than the 4pm check in time, the staff were rude and unhelpful and told me bluntly NO. I was however told i could use the facilities until i had to check in, but there is only so much you can do in a small arcade, a chip shop and a shop. After being let into our caravan... (read more)

Lovely location, right on the cliff top, views out to sea across st ives bay to st ives itself. Direct (if steep!)access to beach, make this wonderful, particulary if you have kids. The worst feature is the pool, its small, basic, and very desperatly in need of cleaning (thats the pool area, rather than the pool itself!)To be honest, Haven would probably be best off knocking it down, I would not let my kids in it! Stock up on "light-up" toys and other "cheap tat" from your local pound shop... (read more)

We are a family of 5, 2 adults 3 kids aged 3, 8 and 10 and we stayed in Riviera Sands during the April half term 2009.
In the past, we've always tried to avoid this kind of holiday - to be honest we didn't know what we were missing! At £250 for the week it would have been an absolute bargain if we'd just used it as a base to explore the many attractions in the local area.
Throw in some extremely high quality (in my opinion) entertainment, a relatively well equipped caravan and a (very very... (read more)

My kids and I loved our holiday to Riviere Sands (july 09). The staff were friendly and the caravan was clean and tidy. My kids loved playing with their beach ball in the pool and riding the flume. The night time entertainment was great for the kids, they danced and joined in games they loved the shows and the security was fantastic guarding the doors so little ones couldn't wander downstairs.
The only grumble i have is the way they get you to spend via your kids its abit unfair, like for... (read more)

Just got back from Riviere Sands. The site shop (not actually on the site!), is extortionate. £5.04 for a small frozen pizza and 6 finger rolls!. The club "entertainment" was not entertaining at all and SO loud that we only went there once!. The local pub that is affiliated to the site (The Bluff Inn), sold plasticky overpriced food. The only good things about this holiday were St Ives, and the beach - although down a VERY VERY steep path, which was not stated beforehand. Tip - take food... (read more)

I thought that overall the Haven Riviere Sands site was fantastic. The beach was 5 mins away and it was beautiful. Haven Holidays, Riviere Sands was the worst caravan stay i have ever had and we were staying in a Superior Plus Caravan. The weather might not have been on our side for the four day stay but the accommodation should not have been so shabby for the price paid. the Park itself was grey and boring too! One plus side was the sheer length and beauty of the beach...nothing to do with haven!

Riviere Sandss is a lovely site. I feel this is the best Haven site there is! A lot smaller than most, but much more friendly for that. All the staff know each other, and they get to know the guests because of it. Yes, parts of the site are a little tired round the edges, and a lick of paint would cheer things up a bit, but generally a great site, and a lovely place. Nice being able to have a stroll along the beach in the morning to The Bluff for breakfast. Booked again for next year already! (read more)

The Riviere sands Haven caravan site was not bad but was swarming in ants...even inside the caravans! Caravan was okay, wouldn't say it was luxury as we were lead to believe. The bathroom could have been cleaner.

What flagship means is old, tired and shabby. I paid good money for an exclusive caravan expecting new, clean and refreshing, only the view was refreshing. I do not think the exclusive caravan had been cleaned properly ever!!!!! I wouldn't say that 6 hour drive there and back was justified and though it was a safer enviroment for our kids than Devon Cliffs it still fell short of the overall quality at Devon Cliffs last year.
That said the beach is wonderful, just wish the weather had allowed us on it a bit more. The chip shop was also excellent and the main thing of course, the kids enjoyed it.
I do appreciate the weather played a big part in our perceptions and would add that that the outdoor play areas were fine... (read more)

I just come back from a holiday at Rivierre sands and I loved it. Normally I hate Cornwall cause I don't think its worth a 6 hour journey but now I want to move to Riviere Sands its Great. The Funstars seem to work well together as if they have known each other for a long time. The Entertainment was amazing, the Funstar and character shows were put together really well. I also enjoyed a day out to Penzance and Lands end.

We travelled for 4 and a half hours from Salisbury to Riviere Sands and it was worth it. The views were stunning and the sun was shining when we arrived. The staff were pleasant and we were given the keys to our standard 3 bedroom caravan. We have just returned from a very enjoyable holiday in the Haven Riviere Sands park June 30th to July 5th 2008. The weather although windy was really warm (high 20's) and the atmosphere on the park was relaxed and friendly. This was our second visit to Riviere Sands as well. The caravan we stayed in was 4 star & very clean and spacious. Our caravan was quite close to the club house but we didn't find it noisy. The staff were very jolly & friendly, particularly the maintenance guys & the receptionists. The caravan park is in a great location, close to local attractions & just minutes walk to Hayle beach, which has lovely sandy beaches for about 3 miles with terrific views. The caravan I stayed in at the Riviere Sands Haven holiday park has got to be the filthiest caravan I have stayed in, and it was a 'luxury' silver. There were no knives, missing duvet, saucepan handle off, no stool for table, no baking tray... Need I go on? We went to Riviere sands last June through the Sun newspaper offer. We stayed five nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. Whether we would have enjoyed it so much if the weather was bad I don't know as we spent every day down on the beautiful beach. Went to Riviere Sands at end of April. Was hot on day 1 and 2 but as we all know, whether can change in this country very quickly.
