We are a family of 5, 2 adults 3 kids aged 3, 8 and 10 and we stayed in Riviera Sands during the April half term 2009.

In the past, we've always tried to avoid this kind of holiday - to be honest we didn't know what we were missing! At £250 for the week it would have been an absolute bargain if we'd just used it as a base to explore the many attractions in the local area.

Throw in some extremely high quality (in my opinion) entertainment, a relatively well equipped caravan and a (very very basic) indoor pool and you've got yourself the makings of a fantastic break!

The beach is right next to the park so a 2 minute walk and you're exploring rock pools and your feet are turning blue in the freezing cold sea.

Something else that I was impressed with was the cost of drinks at the bar. I assumed that since they had a captive audience they would have whacked up the prices but this was not the case. Both soft drinks and kids drinks were on a par with, if not less than our local!

At the end of the day this is a cheap way to stay-cation, when you pay this kind of money don't expect 4 star accommodation or facilities, everything is basic apart from the evening entertainment which was way beyond my expectations. Enjoy it for what it is and I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised.

My kids and I loved our holiday to Riviere Sands (july 09). The staff were friendly and the caravan was clean and tidy. My kids loved playing with their beach ball in the pool and riding the flume. The night time entertainment was great for the kids, they danced and joined in games they loved the shows and the security was fantastic guarding the doors so little ones couldn't wander downstairs.

The only grumble i have is the way they get you to spend via your kids its abit unfair, like for exam ...

Just got back from Riviere Sands. The site shop (not actually on the site!), is extortionate. £5.04 for a small frozen pizza and 6 finger rolls!. The club "entertainment" was not entertaining at all and SO loud that we only went there once!. The local pub that is affiliated to the site (The Bluff Inn), sold plasticky overpriced food. The only good things about this holiday were St Ives, and the beach - although down a VERY VERY steep path, which was not stated beforehand. Tip - take food w ...

I thought that overall the Haven Riviere Sands site was fantastic. The beach was 5 mins away and it was beautiful. The entertainment at the club was great and the funstars were very funny and made the holiday more special. I would recommend it to a friend as there are lots of places to go. The caravan was nice and well cleaned and I would go there again any day!

Haven Holidays, Riviere Sands was the worst caravan stay i have ever had and we were staying in a Superior Plus Caravan. The weather might not have been on our side for the four day stay but the accommodation should not have been so shabby for the price paid. the Park itself was grey and boring too! One plus side was the sheer length and beauty of the beach...nothing to do with haven!

The caravan was big but bog standard for 6 people. the roof leaked, doors hanging off, the sofa stank and was s ...

Riviere Sandss is a lovely site. I feel this is the best Haven site there is! A lot smaller than most, but much more friendly for that. All the staff know each other, and they get to know the guests because of it. Yes, parts of the site are a little tired round the edges, and a lick of paint would cheer things up a bit, but generally a great site, and a lovely place. Nice being able to have a stroll along the beach in the morning to The Bluff for breakfast. Booked again for next year already!

stayed in march in caravan at Haven Holidays, Riviere Sands. Shabby campsite ,needs updating. The caravan we stayed in stank of gas,we complained numerous times to be told it would be dealt with, the only person who did look at the problem was an ex maintenance man who now worked as security staff,he said it was the boiler and to shut it off,it could be extremely dangerous. We had no hot water or able to cook for the duration of our holiday, thank god it was only for a few days.when we returned hom ...

The Riviere sands Haven caravan site was not bad but was swarming in ants...even inside the caravans! Caravan was okay, wouldn't say it was luxury as we were lead to believe. The bathroom could have been cleaner.
The entertainment was nothing special and the funstars just seemed to spend most of their time bantering between each other.
The amusement arcades were very small and not much in them.
The Bluff Inn wasn't actually on the site itself it was a short walk away. Only good thing about thi ...

On the main Haven Holidays, Riviere Sands was ok'ish. Would I go again? No. Caravan was ok but not very cleaned. Entertainment was below average. Pool was very small and not very clean. Generally the site is tired and in need of investment and doesn't maximise on its location to St. Ives.

What flagship means is old, tired and shabby. I paid good money for an exclusive caravan expecting new, clean and refreshing, only the view was refreshing. I do not think the exclusive caravan had been cleaned properly ever!!!!! Mouldy shower, mountains of dust in and around fire, filthy fingerprints all over the windows and mirrors, shabby uncomfortable settee's, stains on carpets, very uncomfortable beds. I could go on forever and that is just the caravan. Now the site itself needs knockin ...

I wouldn't say that 6 hour drive there and back was justified and though it was a safer enviroment for our kids than Devon Cliffs it still fell short of the overall quality at Devon Cliffs last year.
That said the beach is wonderful, just wish the weather had allowed us on it a bit more. The chip shop was also excellent and the main thing of course, the kids enjoyed it.

I do appreciate the weather played a big part in our perceptions and would add that that the outdoor play areas were fine and ...

Location fantastic everything else was very below average. Lot of noisy teenagers and hoodies hanging around adventure playground intimidating younger kids. A week at Riviere Sands or a week in an inner city sink estate? Mmm.....not a lot of difference in my opinion.

I just come back from a holiday at Rivierre sands and I loved it. Normally I hate Cornwall cause I don't think its worth a 6 hour journey but now I want to move to Riviere Sands its Great. The Funstars seem to work well together as if they have known each other for a long time. The Entertainment was amazing, the Funstar and character shows were put together really well. I also enjoyed a day out to Penzance and Lands end.
But Reviere sands is the best Haven site just beating Devon Cliffs.

We travelled for 4 and a half hours from Salisbury to Riviere Sands and it was worth it. The views were stunning and the sun was shining when we arrived. The staff were pleasant and we were given the keys to our standard 3 bedroom caravan. It was booked through the sun newspaper promotion and we paid the extra £15 for a third bedroom which was worth it. It was a very nice caravan and had been cleaned and was well presented. We unpacked and later headed off to see the entertainment. The fu ...

We have just returned from a very enjoyable holiday in the Haven Riviere Sands park June 30th to July 5th 2008. The weather although windy was really warm (high 20's) and the atmosphere on the park was relaxed and friendly. We had no problems with any loud or disruptive holidaymakers and security teams were seen to be patrolling the park often which gave us a real sense of safety. The park was clean well laid out and easy to navigate. When we arrived in the park we were too early to check in but ...

We stayed at Haven's Riviere Sands for a week in September and had a brilliant time. After unloading all our things into the caravan which was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed we took a walk to the beach which is only down the road (turn right out of the entrance to the caravan site) and were amazed by the lovely white sand and turquoise sea, almost felt like we were abroad. We spent a couple of evenings at the Bluff Inn which has amazing views over the beach and our young da ...

This was our second visit to Riviere Sands as well. The caravan we stayed in was 4 star & very clean and spacious. Our caravan was quite close to the club house but we didn't find it noisy. The staff were very jolly & friendly, particularly the maintenance guys & the receptionists. The caravan park is in a great location, close to local attractions & just minutes walk to Hayle beach, which has lovely sandy beaches for about 3 miles with terrific views. I would definitely recommend this park.

This was our second visit to Riviere Sands and it was fantastic we stayed from June 2nd till June 16th 2007.
The weather was glorious and there was so much to do. The beach was very clean and it felt like we were abroad.
Our caravan was a Gold and was in very good condition and seemed to be thoroughly cleaned.
Follies on-site club was great, the children loved it and the Funstars made us all feel welcome the kids especially loved the bingo and dancing in the dark
Cornwall is an absolutely be ...
