Only just got round to writing a review, but we enjoyed a weeks holiday at Haven's Golden Sands in May 2012. Despite other reviews on here, we had a great time. Check-in was handled well and on arrival the caravan was nice & clean and fully equipped. After 10 minutes of being in the caravan, a checker arrived to ensure that everything was ok with the caravan and he checked the smoke alarms, never had that happen before at any other holiday park, but it was a nice touch. I have been coming to Golden Sands for years and this will be our fourth year. After reading a lot of negative reviews I can understand why it could drive people away from this site. However if it were as bad as people say it is, me and my family would not be so eager to return. I have found that the people complaining must have been expected to be waited on hand and foot. My 13 year old daughter went with a friend and her parents to end up being a victim of crime! An adult male put his hand in her bag and stole her brand new ipod which she had got for her birthday 4 days before. The 'customer care manager' Amanda was rubbish. The family she went with had their car reversed into causing significent damage with no details left. I think maybe Haven should invest in CCTV! 5 days there and a victim of crime twice! “Fanatastic Holiday To Haven, Golden Sands, Mablethorpe”

We have just got back from a fantastic holiday which was made all the better by one member of staff in particular. If you want to meet a great guy who will make you have a good night, say hi to Barney in the Live Lounge. The entertainment was great for the kids, who enjoyed all the characters and games available. All the adults enjoyed themselves in the evenings at the night disco's, dancing away to all the great music. There is a great range of food available which is cooked to good... (read more)

Had a lovely week at Golden Sands - particularly helped by the good weather! Caravan clean and spacious. Extremely close to the entertainment because we had an accessible caravan due to one member of the party having a disability - both an advantage (2 mins walk and you're in the midst of it all!) and a disadvantage (bit noisy at times!) All facilities were clean and staff generally friendly and welcoming. Travel cot we paid to hire smelt of vomit but a quick call to reception had a new one... (read more)

I was very impressed with the quality and quantity of entertainment on this site. The entertainment in the bars was excellent although there were not enough bar staff ad the queues were quite long at times. Also some of the security people were a little over zealous in their approach to customers and most of them did not smile much which made them appear unaproachable and not very friendly. We stayed at Golden sands for 4 nights on 18th April, If you want to avoid the queues come 4pm book a PLATINUM caravan as check in is at 1PM, this is top the range caravan and you shouldn't be disappointed with the quality. On arrival I noticed the latch on the outside of the caravan was broken and when I contacted reception they replaced it within the hour, I also mentioned that there appeared to be 1 or 2 small stains on the lounge carpet...

So we always want a good safe clean enviroment. Delux caravan was not good

We are a family with three teenagers, we've been to Golden Sands before and really enjoyed it, but we went in October after not going for about six years. The site had changed which we didn't really like. We stayed for three nights in a three bedroom caravan, it was very cold with only a gas fire in the living room, the oven didn,t have a shelve or any baking trays. Golden Sands Mablethorpe is such a dissappointment. The caravans are filthy. Our caravan had not been cleaned out in ages, there were balls of dog hairs and stains all over the carpets. The microwave we had has thick with rust, a health hazard. The curtains were hanging off and the tv did not work. The cutlery were dirty and the plates had not been washed. Couldn't fault the site, facilities or the surrounding area, all were excellent. We had a budget caravan which was adequate as a base for touring the area. Minor details left a bit to be desired, cleanliness of the caravan was only superficial, debri under bed in main bedroom, food and dust behind cushions in lounge, vent missing from kitchen ceiling exposing cobwebs. When we 1st arrived at the site, the key's for our accomodation wasn't avalable, after a 10 minute hold up we arrived at our accomodation
to find one of the doors to the caravan wide open and a key with a green keyring in it. When getting into the caravan and unpacking a cleaner's
manager arrived asking if we had a key. We gave him the key and told him about the curtains in the lounge area hanging of the rails. He did

The staff was lovely and friendly but the cleaning contractors were observed to be not very good as they appeared to prefer to watch the tv in the caravans that to clean. Pizza place were very slow on delivery but gave us a full refund when we complained and we got the meal for free. Eldest didn't enjoy it but didn't really want to be with us but the rest of us were so pleased with the holiday that we've booked to go back next year (read more)

As a company we dont advertise our accommodation as non smoking however, we do ask that people respect the caravans and most people do smoke outside. I do apologise that you found your caravan not to our usual standard. If you choose to make a futher booking please contact us with your requirements, although we can't guarantee them we endeavour to meet all requests. If we know you have a preference we can double check this prior to your arrival.

Went to haven caravan site at golden sands at mablethorpe,we stayed in a 8berth caravan it was lovely inside could not fault it what so ever. my kids loved it not that far from the beach,really had a good holiday.the only down fall the caravan above us was very noisy what had young lads in carrying on all night,but it did not put us off.the sand train on the beach was great the seal sanctuary was really good..apart from that we had a great holiday going to book another one for next year cant... The caravan was dirty with faulty appliances such as cooker and shower, there was only enough cutlery and corkery for 4 even though we were in an 8 birth caravan. Lights bulbs and the tv were broken and then there was a strong smell of gas only to find a huge FAILED sticker accross the boiler. I would recommend Haven to a friend although I would tell them not to book standard accomadation as I feel this was really poor. Every thing else about the holiday was great and the staff in particular were excellent. Wall paper was ripped off the wall in one of the bedrooms, the bed in the main bedroom was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever tried to sleep in. Hi we went to haven in mablethorpe for a weekend with our 2 dogs we had a fantastic time, the caravan was clean and lovely and the beach was wonderful our 2 lhasa apso loved it. Well we enjoyed it so much we have brought our own caravan there so we can go any time we want to. I know my 4 year old grandson will love it there. The Site Staff were very Helpful, Friendly and gave 100% to resolve a problem I had with my key. The caravan was modern but more importantly Clean and the Site was well maintained.
A great place to stay on site relaxing or to enjoy a variety of entertainment or to explore the surrounding areas.
I will defiantly be booking another break at Golden Sands. Thank you for a lovely time.

We had a great holiday the only thing I would complain about is there needs to be air conditioning put into soft play it got really warm in there which was ashame as the kids loved it. I think the soft play is a great area if this was looked at and this was one of main reasons we picked this park as the kids love soft play it is great to take them there out of sun or if weather bad. Got there late but it appeared that i was not booked in. They print the list for the day on the night before. So my online request during the day was missed.
No keys provided so could not use loo or showers.
Limited room for van and awning, its a first come first served set-up
Horrible one way system right around the camp with speed bumps, perfect for a touring van.
No food after 10. and the on site chippy serves grey tatseless fish

In reading your comments I note that you mentioned the shower block being closed, we dont lock this at night as this is a service for the entire touring area. The only toilet, shower area which remains locked is the accessable, which is in most public areas is accessed via a Radar Key. The main distance between all tents and tourers is 6 meters, there is a selection of extra large pitches offering more space.
<br/>The onlt one way systems we have on the park are in some areas of the caravans not round the main site, there would be no need to go in these areas, sorry for any confusion.
<br/>Our restaurant serves food until 9pm and after this time we do have Papa John's take away service available and also the fish & chip shop, I am sorry that you found the food dissapointing.

Me and my family recently went to Golden sands and we all absolutely loved it! The site was amazing and the entertainment was brilliant. I have recommended this site to my friends and family and we are even going to book to go back next year. I found this review helpful because...we are going to Golden Sands in August and, having read less favourable reviews, we have been dreading going there. Perhaps it is not as bad as those reviews make it out to be and although apprehensive, we shall reserve judgement until we get there.

Terrible place! Bought a caravan and what a rip-off!! Reception staff are rude as are most of the others and very unhelpful. There's no discipline amongst the mainly young staff and they have a flippant 'couldn't care less attitude' and I doubt they've never heard of the words 'customer service' let alone 'good'.
The sales team only want your (hard earned) money and will tell you anything to get your cash from you - and I do mean just about anything! The 'truth' only emerges too late,...

Visited this park in October 2009. It's not the worst caravan park i've been to, but no where near the best. We were given a 3 bedroom caravan instead of a 2 bedroom so that was good. But when we opened one of the doors it came off, the cleaners had obviously not told anyone it was broken, called reception though and they came straight away to fix it. One of the caravan doors wouldn't lock, was unlocked when we got here, another thing the cleaners must not have mentioned.

To call Golden Sands a dump would be an insult! Infested with flies and wasps due to an inabilty to clean, rude and unhepful staff and 5th rate accomodation- we arrived to a room that " was forgot to be cleaned".
Overpriced stores, clammy entertainment rooms, dated rides.

We spent 5 days at Haven Holidays, Golden Sands last week and all i can say is thank god we took our own accommodation at least we knew that was clean.
Where to start the touring site was filthy a million wasps it seemed like cause bins were constantly full, the toilets and shower blocks were disgusting i spoke to 1 woman who hadn't showered all week because she would rather stay dirty than wash in them can't really say i blame her either. We went to golden sands myself my wife and the kids in late July and I must say this what a disgusting place. The swimming pool changing rooms were disgusting. Nothing was free, the bars were disgusting, the caravan was filthy, the ball pool was way to hot, there was no air conditioning.
As for the staff I thought they were quite helpful, the young man working in the ballpool was helpful and polite, the security staff were extremely helpful especially the grounds staff as they assisted us...

Just a quick review, to re-iterate the other reviews on this site. I've been home for 2 hours now since getting back from Haven Golden Showers, I mean Sands! And I feel so strongly that no one else (with any sense of personal standards) should go there, that I decided to right this straight away.
Every time I clear dog poo's from the garden I will think of Golden Sands, due to the smell. Let me run you through some of the disappointments.

We booked Haven Holidays at Golden Sands, three caravans for our family, two standard plus and one prestige. The two standard plus were passable to some extent (one had to have the deep cleaning team in to clean smelly carpets) but the prestige caravan was so disappointing. It hadn't been cleaned properly (if at all) as old food was left in cupboards, dirty glass on floor - flat screen television and dvd missing etc. etc.
On site facilities - swimming pool too much chlorine and dirty...

Golden Sands was the worst holiday ever,expensive considering all facilities is a 15 min walk away,toilets and touring site dirty and smelly,flies and wasps everywhere,dog poo everywhere,bike hire but couldn't take them to touring site,water waste was too high to lift waste container,staff not helpful,paid £196 what a waste came home early we were really bored,not even a park on site for the kids we had footballs keep hitting our caravan and car, and disabled friendly (WHERE)never again.... We have just returned from a week at Golden Sands and with it being our first family holiday we decided to stay in a platinum caravan. After reading plenty of horror stories on sites like this we weren't expecting much but thought that the whole experience was good.
Admittedly the Pool is a little bit messy and the falcon bar could do with a bit of TLC but all the staff were very helpful and polite, they weren't too pushy selling things and the things you could buy were quite reasonably...

I was very saddened to read your comments, all caravans do come with a gas fire however we only advertise certain grades of accommodation that come with guaranteed heating throughout, which are our Prestige and Platinum range.
<br/>If the issues encountered during your stay were mentioned to us, such as no oven shelf or baking trays we would have rectified this straight away for you.
